I didn't know anyone was supporting this besides his family! I know his defense attorneys are paid to do use any means necessary... but why would anyone want anything to do with him is absolutely absurd. My fellow POC should be his loudest detractors! He made a fool of us, because we believed him for a short time. Why would anyone feel this was staged after initially hearing this. So glad this hoax started unraveling almost immediately. Shame on anyone defending this.

Usually when you plea guilty you get a lighter sentence and if you choose to go to trial and get convicted you get a harsher sentence because you cost the court time and money. The judge said the sentencing guidelines were 1 to 3 years incarceration then the judge gives him 5 months after going to trial. With time off for good behavior he’s only doing 2 1/2 months. He basically got a slap on the wrist.

The story was absurd from day one. I worked downtown Chicago for as many years as Smollett lived there. Winters are horrific especially with that wind coming off the lake. You don't run out for snacks if it can be avoided unless you are desperately hungry. And if you're that hungry, your stomach tells you long before you get home. Airports have food. His alibi for going back out to forage does not hold up. If you are bundled up against the cold, how does anyone identify you? I wouldn't know Jussie by name even if I saw him stark naked on the street.

I had to train in Chicago for almost 2 years and I hated it. Beautiful lake, lots of good stores to shop and of course some nice people. However the corruption in that city is so blatant and the lower income people just ruin everything. I feel so badly for small business owners. The low lives would act up and I wouldn’t come back, after all there was another store the same distance in the opposite direction. They probably lose thousands a year on that alone. Whether you’ve ever lived in Chicago or not, the story made no sense because he got greedy. He wanted to be so famous that he was targeted, he wanted a dig at Trump supporters, he wanted to show he could fight off two people and he wanted racism and homophobia to take center stage. It’s like, pick your made up battles you uneducated egomaniac. If you want an attack on a freezing night, have it be two rando drunks who pour their booze on you and yell racist remarks but don’t know who you are so no homophobic remarks. You want a noose? Have them find something on the street they can fashion into a noose? You want them to be Trump supporters? You can’t have that in a city that voted 93% Clinton, let it go. And let go any reference to Empire. Jeez this guy should have hired me to direct his first hoax.

He didn't get jail time because of "high profile" but because he was guilty, 4 stated aggravating charges, and his "selfishness, arrogance, and narcissism." AND defiance and no acknowledgment of his guilt. There are not enough words in the English language to express everything Smollett has lied about. Of course, in my opinion, the judge did a very excellent job of laying it all out. Smollett is a narcissist (supported by his family and the big money black power people), he cannot/will not put himself under authority, so I will be surprised if he gets reduced time in jail for good behavior.

That’s because it wasn’t a hoax. Osundario brothers were forced to make a confession stating they were solicited by Smollett to plan out this attack after 47 hours of detainment by CPD. Also worth noting that the lead detectives were all replaced by officers with complaint histories. Not to mention the fact the hoax theory was first initiated by an online rumor and eventually announced by then Supt Eddie Johnson on GMA, which goes against procedures of ongoing investigations. Johnson was later forced to resign by Mayor Lightfoot for unethical conduct while serving as police chief of Chicago PD.

@@iamezekiel1970 I think he or she may have said that because many are acting like this was in fact a "hard" sentence. I've seen people comparing his sentence to that of Kim Potter. It's a different judge and a different case. In my opinion, former officer Potter should've gotten considerably more time to set an example for other officers by showing that such a mistake will not be taken lightly.
Kim Potter definitely benefited from being a female and doing everything possible to come across as fragile and broken, which doesn't seem to be too far from the truth. But that judge definitely let that play too greatly in her light sentence. A male, minority, or someone that ticks both boxes would never have gotten such a light sentence.
One thing Kim Potter did realize though is that she absolutely had to do everything in her power to be extraordinarily apologetic and open about her mistake once the jury handed down it's guilty verdict. Jussie was incapable of that. Had he done the same, he'd almost definitely not be serving any time in jail.
I wish his family and friends could've gottent through to him. But much of his family seems to go right along with his insanity and that doesn't help him at all. It's incredibly tragic to see someone so pointlessly wreck their own life.

Yes. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V), Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is one of several personality disorders and is defined as a mental illness that is associated with a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration and lack of empathy. People may associate NPD with being arrogant, cocky and manipulative and while these are symptoms of NPD, not everyone with those characteristics have NPD.

"Frequently the Police Department is the TARGET of our investigations and reporting." I'm surprised to hear ABC admit that on the air, but it does further explain why Chicago's crime is so high. I'm completely in favor of holding police accountable for abusing their authority, but "Targeting Them" does add another level of understanding as to their hesitancy to protect and serve.

A five year sentence would have been more appropriate, not 150 days. Lawyers will break his bank account 🤣

Juicy got off light. It would be a shame if his "attackers" got to him in jail.

Not only did he lie to police but this could have easily caused riots and he lied to the jury and the judge

The answer to why the judge laid out his reasoning is because he knew that Juicy and his lawyers would spin this as hard as they could if he did not.

Reminds me of the Republicans and Trump. He cost Chicago tax payers and he doubled down even though he started it in order to leverage a better salary for himself. He is an embarrassment to his family and he needs to just quiet down and serve his time. His version of the facts is ridiculous.
