Lol I remember my dad playing this game when I was a child, we're talking 25-30 years ago. He would always tell us to be quiet since we were on a submarine. What a fucking genius way to have five children shut up when you're playing video games. .
OMG. In my memories of playing that game more than 25 years ago, the graphics looked more, hm, spectacular :-)
Same here yeah. Still, very nostalgic.
ha ha same here......
@@Galantus1964 Compare that with nintendo at that time, that was you feel in that moment, not the graphics.
What a slap of nostalgia! Wow. You had me speechless for a moment there
My daddy used to sit on the couch and give me orders like I was the helmsman and he was the major. We had many thrilling conversations about this game.
I played this! Loved it. I’d even play it sometimes at 1x time, haha. I did some research and found there was a Japanese task force around Australia on a specific date and found it in the game!
I remember playing this years ago. First on my Amiga 500 and then later on a 386 PC. Thx for the memories.
I played the hell out of this game years ago, thanks for the memories
loved this! war career, ultimate, Narwhal class my favourite, visual contact with large target, periscope visible at 1246, loved sinking the big ships, then try to escape the destroyers,
I played the first Silent Service on Commodore 64 and it was great, than got hold of this one when it came out and it was Awesome with its digitized graphics.
Loved this game so much back in the good old days...
Lots of memories with this one. The trick of the game was to line up shots and shoot subsurface when tackling the carriers/battleships etc. You could hit the destroyers/cruisers later too.
Ooh, I used to play this game a lot on my old Amiga 500 (and the original Silent Service as well)! :)
antred11 Me too. Remember the enormous manual included in the box?
@@steveperry6839 No. My copy of the game may not have been ... _entirely_ legal. 😶
Good video chum, you brought back some good memories, and you give my a good laugh... HAHA YOU MENTIONED DEBRIS.. IN UK WE PRONOUNCE IT debre.
20:28 Japanese DD breeding ritual colorized ;)
Very majestic!
My first sub sim was Silent Hunter 2. Oh, the memories. I wish Ubisoft would release it on Steam. I was so glad when they released SH3 on Steam, and it ran on my PC.
I remember enjoying this and trust game when I was little
Mush on the loose would be Dudley "Mush" Morton, Commander of USS Wahoo.
I remember firing of blind torps, and judging surface ships trajectory, get a hit.... BOOM, Best ever feeling, 😂exspeshly when it was, a destroyer(laughing at you again, firing a torp, by mistake, 😂😂😂😂,... Yes I've been screaming to myself.. Zoom in.... 😂😂🔎🔎
O wow. I played this in the mid-90s on my dad's Compaq pc. It came with a sheet that fit over the keyboard for command referencing
Good vid matey, 🤭🤭, I used to love doing the early war subs, 4 forward 2 rear, 😂😂something like that lol, 🤣🤣🤣, loved it, old school sounds, 😆😆😆
to zoom the map you just click mouse on it left or right buttom you can use keybord z or x
Ive been looking for this game for a while.
Would love for you to steam this again.
but on the real level Ultimate! normal is easy and for kids
1:30 ish bud I'd fire off my front 6 torps, then book it 180 bro, fire of my arse 4 torps at escorts /destroyers, then book it round again for my front 6.. Bow /stern... I don't know, 😂😂, I loved that depth charge graphic, 🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
great strim, thx :)
I used to get the PCs to chase me, as I gunned them down. Then, i was free to chase the merships and sink them at will. Oh, and I always used the Narwhal class, because although it took forever to dive, it had 2 five inch guns. I could really throw the shells at them!
Aye! me too, key on ultimate, quick fire, then crash dive to 25, then blow tanks, fire, then crash dive to 25, points scores good too
brilliant game. played it alot back in the day
I would like to see a remake of European Air War to complement the B-17 remake, seeing as Microprose is back.
Oh the sweet memories!
That music reminds me of CIV 1 opening tune. Very haunting
Haha you mad man! Great idea!
Although, now to think of it... Wolfpack playing a Microprose game from 1990. That was 30 years ago.
Does it mean he'll start streaming my own game in 2050? Darn...
Haha you have no need to worry. 😉
Are used to play this game all the time it’s still a great game
What's the keyboard control to lock onto a target?
WOW....freshman year high school. I think I had this game along with leisure suit larry! ROFL.
First video game I ever got sucked into. Spent many hours in this sim.
Used to play this with my dad
Love it when destroyers bug out, surface, finish them off,, 🐛🐛🐞
I loved this game so much
My first "sub sim" was silent service for NES when I was but a child. I was blown away with the concept of the submarine especially the fact they couldn't see while submerged. The game was horrible though. Don't even bother trying to avoid depth charges. They got you every time.
So, Can I ask if you will do a war career stream sometime in the future?
missed ya , this looks like fun tho, easier to play
You got that right...."disaster".
That was unexpected.
Your background's pretty sick
i played this on nes man lol shit was immersive when i was 6 too
That moment, when you got a battleship in your crosshairs, 😉😉, hope doggys OK, did he see an aircraft carrier... Sneeze, 🤧🤧😂😂
u should do one for enigma rising tide too u could make some great alt history stories...i cantget the hang of thatgame or ide do it
I'm surprised this runs on a modern PC.
God job SKIPPER
u gotta do b17 the mighty 8th
Ultimate! or not worth playing! had class battle 2 merchant ships with 8 escorts, managed to sink the 2 ships for 1125 points each,
The "Actual Screen Shown" box photo was a bit of a flat-out lie..
u can gun down yamato with teh narwhale in sh 4
all those dud torps of WWI and WWII, cost many subarmarine's life. Image this, you do all the maths lining up the perfect trignometry shot. You fire everything at this juicy capital ship. Saying "die Bitcheheeeesssss". then the torps bounce off the ships. and you they know the sub is there and gank you back.... All this for the stupid company to save a few fricking cents....
Release debris, 🤭🤭🤭
I know why your dog was sneezing. I t was the dust you blew off of this antique game. Where did you find it the salvation army? Hilarious......
Dude...you suck at this game^^ That many ships and you gave your position with a bright "hello" away. Keelhauling is still a thing in the Navy......
And USS O'Kane is an... Arleigh Burke class destroyer. Sigh... facepalm.
The Arleigh Burke class destroyer was named after Richard O'Kane who commanded the USS Tang.
@@Wolfpack345 I know. Naming the destroyer after one of the most successful US submarine commander is stupid. Is it possible that the government(TM) couldn't have figured out to name an actual submarine after Richard Hetherington "Dick" O'Kane?
@@Wolfpack345 On today's wikipedia feature article ;) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Oberrender
I still have this game in my stack of old PC games. Great to see you play it.
There are some quite good news. There are plans for Virginia-Block V boats to be named after famous WWII submarines: Barb, Tang (Dick O'Kane's boat), Wahoo and Silversides, for now.
Great memories, great games
