Jack Daniel's employees volunteer at fire brigade

Jack Daniel's focuses on making whiskey year around, but every Monday, 34 of their employees get together for training for the Jack Daniel's Fire Brigade, a volunteer fire brigade that protects the distillery and town of Lynchburg.

For us in Germany it is such a normal thing, that our bigger factories, or in some cases facilities, to say it clear, our industrial areas with the potential of a big case of emergency have their own fire brigades. We call it "Werkfeuerwehr", which means plant or factory or industrial fire brigade. The members of these brigades could be, it depends on the company or the law of the state, career firefighters, volunteers, or a mixture of both. They are there for hazmat, rescue, paramedic, firefighting and prevention. But, to me, it's very cool and interesting to find out more about northern american types of industrial fire brigades. By the way, i was a member of a "Werkfeuerwehr". And I am still a volunteer firefighter.
