Yay SandWings! If I could choose to be any dragon tribe in Wings Of Fire, I would be a SandWing. They’re clever, they know how to survive on rough circumstances, they’re always up for a good time, and they love music! They’re definitely my favorite tribe.
SandWings I think are my FAVORITE along with SilkWings. Most of the things you said about the tail are like, ‘can they get themselves’ or, ’can they control it when they are young’ and such I had always thought about too!! It’s kind of interesting to think about.
(4:30 - 4:46 ) Very interesting questions there; though I do believe at least part of the answer for that could be inferred from Book 5; in the Scorpion Den (Page 54 specifically ) it said from Sunny's POV, that " many of of them sold the antidote to Sandwing Venom. As far as she could see; it was nearly as popular as the giant camel hide puches of water being sold by every other merchant..." From what 'how popular' then antidote seems to be; I'd wager that Sandwings can't control their venom output unless their stinger is in. Granted, the Scorpion Den may have alot of Dragons on edge; maybe a few that're too jumpy/trigger happy w/ venom dosage; but then there would be only a FEW shops selling it. Tying back to real world logic of supply and demand; if hardly anyone is ever afflicted from something; the medication for whatever ailment naturally gets less common, but from what that brief section is depicting; it seems WAY more like Band-aid availability... I mean just *look* what happens to Webs! The guy got 'grazed' by Blister [according to the non graphic novels; the graphic novels tend to exaggerate and understate certain events; such as Tsunami "smacking a Seawing out of the sky"(53) in the OG book 2 but then she just smacks him in the Graphic novel, as well as yunno OG Book 2 "an oozing graze near his tail" (284) vs. Graphic novel pg.207 where she's just shanking the poor guy] and he was on Death's Door in like 3 days, no wonder the cactus is so common! Imagine if he actually got stabbed! I would like to clarify tho that I do *adore* the way the characters looks in the Graphic Novel, spare Moon, I feel like Mike could've still went for the longer snout look like she had in OG book 6 to help differentiate a little more between Nightwing Portags other than eye color and small snout tweaks; I mean there WERE long snout Nightwings in the Book 4 Graphic novel as background characters. I’ve read Winglets book 3 Deserter, and on page 10-11 it actually talks about SandWing venom “And of course, in one corner, a first aid station stocked with lots of brightsting cactus, which was the only antidote to the venom in a SandWing’s tail. The venom didn’t come in until a dragonet was closer to three years old - luckily for everyone…” First off, the antidote has a name: Brightsting Cactus Second, venom only came until a dragonet is about three

I love sand wings! I have a sort of fan fiction about a sandwing named Boulder who lives in Jade Mountain Academy, he’s a hungry, lazy, and scrawny dragon (personality based off Jax from TADC), he was extremely fatigued and nauseated when he came to Jade Mountain Academy because the oasis he lived in had little food and water, but now hes just boulder, the sarcastic, hungry sandwing
A few of my sand head-canons -sandwings can go for 5 moths without food or water due to there home in the desert dragonets don't have this benefit - when the wet season starts they have a celebration of the first drops of rain - sandwing vemon is a little bit different depending on where you are for example: a sandwing who spent there life near the ice-kindom will have venom that can inflict frostbite alongside the posion efect! -Sandwings and rainwings shared ancestry so some sandwings have rainwing frills that can change colour, this was more common in dark'stalkers time
I would honestly make them able to get water from the cacti in the desert, make them sometimes hide their eggs inside of the cacti like some birds hide in the desert/semi arid regions. I would also make them have a more animal inspired base, if they were to evolve more I'd make them have pouches. And maybe make them have tiny eggs but multiple of them (like many desert animals do.) A change I would make is that they prefer burrows and such instead of buildings. And agree with you with the cheetah markings. Also I headcannon them to have large ears to keep from sweating like the fennec fox does. (Also why do they hide their eggs in sand... Y'all got houses ppl)

I hc that Sandwing venom is unique, but, similarly to Rainwing venom, venom of relatives can reverse the effects. So I think family cannot hurt each other enough to kill them, but it hurts a little bit.
I think sandwings can stab there self with there own tale and that's part of the reason they have to be so careful, also because of the risk of staging others but I don't know for sure
In what it sky and peril met after book 15? I think it would be pretty cute Also what it turtle made peril something that allows her to turn off and on her fire before magic broke?

I know the Winglets kind of depend on the Clawmates, and that would mean they would have to switch more things around, which would be confusing, but in book 6, Tsunami said they had to switch things around for the SandWing and IceWing, and I keep wondering who her and the others chose for their first option, so that would be cool to know. Also another what if idea, which is very… I don’t know how to explain it, so I’ll just tell you what I think the title would be if this was used: What if the prophecy turned out exactly as Morrowseer created it? (SkyWing instead of Glory; Sunny not being a hybrid; Starflight being what Morrowseer wanted him to be like; Tsunami and Clay would be the OG; etc) I hope it isn’t confusing, but please let me know if it is. (Side note: I’d do these what ifs for my channel, but it would take too much time, plus I don’t want to seem like I’m copying you)
Okay, so though a young dragonet COULD stab themselves, they have to grow into their venom, and by the time they're three and they have venom, it wont be as much of a problem, because they'll have learned control.
I love sand wings a lot, but they do have a very limited color palette, so it makes them slightly harder to draw for me, also when will the raffle be released? :D

Your art is awesome. I believe the venom of a sandwing tail comes in when the dragon is 2-3 years old.

I think SandWings would have wide wings built for gliding long distances, but not as built for speed and quick turns.

The Sandwings being somewhat nocturnal makes sense because of the Moon Festival they have.
