Isn't it awful how programmes like this encourage the public to judge the contestants. I remember REALLY not liking Myleene, thinking she was really cocky, and look how sweet and young she is! She was a young teenager, that's all!
Yeah but don't forget they're auditioning to be in a band, not a solo star, so the voice doesn't have to be incredibly strong - it's as much about the dancing and personality too.
Yes, in comparison to The Idol Franchise, The X Factor or even The Voice, their chances by today's standards would be nil. Kimberly Walsh of Girls Aloud remember seeing Kelly Young in Liberty X, and Suzanne Shaw at some Old School Auditions and look what happened to them and what happened to Kimberly. In the US The Boy Band/Girl Group Market died out in 2002 and with the exception of Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake, most didn't go far. 702 got really egotistical when "Where My Girls At" released in 1998 thought they were the next big thing and before they knew it they got dropped.
Absolute nonsense. The general standard of talent did not 'improve.' Quite the opposite. The final ten of _'Pop Idol'_ 2002 included: Will Young, Gareth Gates, Darius Campbell, Zoe Birkett, Hayley Evetts, Rosie Ribbons, Jessica Garlick, and Rik Waller. That's a **RIDICULOUS** pool of raw talent, purely in terms of vocal ability. _'X Factor'_ was a ridiculous clown show in comparison.
And apart from the singles I cannot find any video whatsoever, live or otherwise, of the other tracks from the Popstars album. (I know there are audios. I'm not looking for those)
The Claire Witch it was weird who they chose.. they kinda built the band around Kim... the rest were middle of the road. Liberty X were so much better..... poor lad hearsay were badly managed... had a rubbish image and rubbish songs..
@Claire Frances Well that's where you are wrong. Hear'say were one of the best pop acts of all time as well as Liberty X and they have some incredible songs off two albums.
@gagaslilmonsteruk Johnny - He's done some musicals recently but is pretty much unheard of anywhere now (was never a hue fan of Johnny so please correct me there Shentall fans) Noel - Currently tourin with the cast of We Will Rock You. He is pretty domininant on the West End now. Danny - He's now the lead siner of Danny Foster & The Big Soul Corporation. You can check him out at Danny Foster Online.
Johnny married Lisa Scott-Lee (from Steps) and they both relocated to Dubai and (both) is now Principal of a performing arts school and have been the last few years
They didn't show much of Kim's auditions.. which is really annoying!! She has the best voice by far!!! It surprised me who they chose..... they kinda built the band and the songs around Kim... the rest were middle of the road. Liberty X were so much better..... poor old hearsay were badly managed... had a rubbish image and rubbish songs.. why did they give mylenne so much air time?? She is irritating!!!
Thought the guys in hearsay were sweet! But totally sexless! And the girls were too twee as well ( except for Kim) the band was very bland. Liberty X had more edge! Glad Kim has still got a career. She is very talented!
Most of these kids wouldn’t make it through the first round on X factor these days... ( except for Kim) They are all very musical theatre! Too Clean Cut. Boring!
Not to mention Liberty X's music was much better! Just A Little and Being Nobody are amazing! Thinking It Over was a really good debut single. Jumpin', Doin' It, Got To Have Your Love and Holding For You weren't bad songs either. I still have their albums as well. Thinking It Over and Being Somebody are very good pop/R&B albums. Their last album wasn't so good.
@stephthestar90 Well that's where you are wrong. Hear'say was one of the best pop acts of all time and their music was fantastic too as well as Liberty X's. If only they lasted for long.
It kinda funny that, members of Liberty X. Did not get picked to be in the group, don’t want to be mean but I have to said to say. They got the last laugh, when the members were not pick be in the group. They form their own groups and became successfully, than Hear’Say as they disappeared into obscurity after 1 year. As a group together, after winning the competition. They were never heard again. While losing contestant performing the room group, and last at least 5 years and had a couple of comeback.
@@jamie_ghost.johnson I agree. It set a precedent for future TV talent shows. The winners often ended up less successful than the runners up. Look at Olly Murs. He was a runner up on X Factor and he has been very successful. One Direction were the same. And yes Liberty X had some great songs. Just A Little is a pop classic!
@@stephthestar90Yes, so true. The winner usually don’t last long or have a successful career, the loser or runner up usually are successful one. Liberty X members of the competition who were rejected, ended up being better one.
What a gentleman Darius was 🌹 RIP 💔
RIP Darius Danesh
I miss the freshness of this pop era
you are having a laugh..... this was the beginning of the mass on mass manufactured bull shit pop groups !

its funny the auditions.. since none of them prob apart from Kim would of gotten through the first stage on X factor now.

You think stardom is about talent? Wow!

The casting theme then was to find 5 ok singers for a pop band. As the years went on with Pop Idol and The X Factor the standard of talent improved.

i really didnt get the selection of the boys in particular!
If they like the look of you you're in if you sound brilliant but they don't like your look then you don't stand a chance
Did anyone else see Kyms hand on Danny's thigh when she first speaks right at the beginning?
Did they both have a thing between them two
Myleen sounds very nasally when she talks but she's a great singer. sounds like her sinuses are congested.
Wow brings back memories, now I remember loving Suzanne and hating Daryus! hahaha forgot how bad he was in this!
Noel is lush 🥰😍😘
kym marsh is proper young here. shaw is cute.
2:57 NEVER EVER been to Peckham only heard it was a suburb of London from this T shirt I HAD to wear for the TV.
Lol Why would anyone think Peckham is an area of London to be proud of?
Myleene Klass is quite nice, both looks and voice. Seems like a nice person too.
Myleene is funny 😂
Oh my god what did that guy who duetted with Suzanne look like 😬
There actually so bad. Can't even believe any of them got through, liberty x far superior singers.

Is there a link for part 2. I can't find it.
why would they know to film just the ones picked for the band?

Danny had the fancaility factor? really nikki??? neither noel or danny had that! liberty x was a much better band in how they looked together
I always saw Liberty X as the lookers. Hear'Say weren't ugly but they were next-door type.
the peckham tshirt tho
And the losers aka liberty x went on to be much more than hearsay!

I bet the other 4 were gutted that Kym made it into the band. She's a horror.
Philip D she had the best voice in the whole band!
It’s so cringe 😬 why are they all clicking their fingers so much when performing?! I actually can’t deal....
