Blue was in the Philippines on my 14th birthday. My aunt was a producer for their show. At one point they called out my name and Lee carried me onto the stage. Antony, lee, duncan and my absolute fave-SIMON sang me happy birthday and i will never never be able to thank you guys enough for making my little teenage heart burst like that.

Can you imagine being in top of the world at one moment in time, then 20 years later, someone calls you up and says “hey, would you like to be in a documentary about has beens.” How humble of these great artists to participate in something like this. Super commendable.

@@redfernpixelgnomepitcher1377 Most performers experience the big humbling.
Its not like they suddenly get a huge overnight shock about it. From no longer having limo's to pick them up. Losing the entourage and having to do their own shopping etc. No longer being in the charts, going from big venues to small. A lot of them would have already gone down the reality tv route, some go into a different career and completley remove themselves from the spotlight. So the tv company so I dont think they'd be too bothered if they did or didn't get asked.

My dance instructor has told me about “glitter crash” where as a performer you sink into a post-show depression and go a little crazy for a bit. I have experienced it myself, for sure. Now imagine being a huge pop star in a girl group and suddenly, no more group and no more gigs. The orders of magnitude difference in our experiences of glitter crash have to be huge.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 Рік тому +7

First of all they were not pop stars nor were they singers and musicians. They were stage performers whose role was to legitimize fake music.
The sorts of tricks that were used was to have 25 year old men dancing around on stage so as to influence 8 to 12 year old girls into getting their family to spend money on worthless junk.
That era was the start of the destruction of music in the popular culture. What you call a glitter crash is really performers who come to the realization that their careers were limited and used up their best years of their life.
The real sad part for those performers were when they bought into the hype and actually thought they were rich and bought properties, cars and jewellery all on credit. Many went bankrupt because they were in the dark as to what was really going down.

Absolutely. My whole life I’ve been in entertainment in some form of the other, and I can remember pretty much every band that I was ever in, at the end of the show… No matter how many people were there, I would want to not stop playing. same thing with comedy and acting. It’s like this big adrenaline rush, and then you fall off the cliff and you still have that adrenaline going and don’t know what to do with it. Almost looking for anything you can do after the fact in order to be able to deal with all of this energy you have left over.
Still to this day, I feel the after effects of performing. Like an energy that just will not turn off.

This happened to Yazz but I’m a fan in exactly the same way with the same admiration as 34 years ago when I was 6 yo. I do also know that she is a person like everyone else, a mum, a teacher, a writer and has given me many nice words of encouragement many times.
At least these people can actually say they know what it feels like… success and recognition of that success and talent. I wish them the all the best with the rest of their lives

One of my friends in community theater was a HUGE performer in the Philippines, and every once in a while, she'll post a commercial, or a show, or a snippet of some stadium performance she was involved with. Then her parents had to move to the US, and all that just went away. She always says she's happier now (she has an amazing job as an executive and two fantastic kids and a wonderful husband...just a great life, from what I can see), but it must feel like two entirely different lives.

As an Irish bloke and knowing that Edeles twin absolutely goes through some of the mental hardship I do, I'm still inclined to want to comment first to say Lee Brennan seems and always seemed like an absolute gentleman and i genuinely love 911 just as much as I was a total gay fan of the band Five! . The 911 guys were just sound Northern lads and they just didn't always release those same level bops that the likes of Five! did. I wish Lee all the best along with the other 911 guys 🙂

I love seeing B*Witched on here. I only had the one album but I loved it. My dad knew a woman at his workplace who was Irish and she gave him that cd. I think it was their debut but idk I know it was the one with Blame It On The Weatherman lol still hits the nostalgia and I am so grateful for my dad's coworker being so sweet. I might have met her once at a Christmas thing and if I did I hope I thanked her!

Started watching Secret Celebrity Drag Race and it is fun to see AJ doing it and I was wondering what do these people. There are quite a few who have ventured on to the business side of it all and then there are those who became notorious for varied reasons. It is a tough space for sure and it is definitely commendable when those who have been consistently been doing whatever they have been; minus the 'try hard' ones who obviously are pushing just too hard to stay 'relevant'. Re-inventing oneself isn't all that easy or simple... Interesting to hear these people....

911 was one of my most favorite boybands. I really REALLY like Don't Make Me Wait. I was 12 (1997). I used to listen to it on the radio. Walkman was really popular at the time.

The description says iconic British pop stars. Wished the video title included British. Would be less confusing for those who have never heard of these folks. I think geography makes a huge difference for those of us in the US (especially when discussing music from before UA-cam, social media, and modern technology). I recognize a few of the names (also listed in the description) but I remember how slow it was for music to travel across the globe. And some stars did well in their country of origin but not necessarily globally. Conversely, some stars didn't do well in their country of origin but found fame elsewhere.
