I work at a brokerage in tx and one thing I can tell you is that you have to read the rate con. They are not all the same. Also if you book loads closer to the end of the day the broker is more likely to move on the rate because they need the load moved.
Great tip Michael thank you for that!
Its not just where the load is picking up, but also where it is going. Thats what determines the rate. Been doing this 25 years and i can tell you this, dont always look at the rate. Look where its going. What terrain you have to drive through to get it there. All that matters. Good video though. Like watching you young guys trying to figure it out lol
Yes 100% agree. That's what I was getting at by saying establish 3-5 routes you will want to run but I could've clarified the variables a bit more. Thank you Chris!
Coach me I'm trying to learn lol. Thanks
Facts
It’s always a pleasure listening to knowledge that no one speaks about and your right it makes sense wow 25 years and much more to go thanks for that knowledge sir🙏🏾
Now is this information for 53ft truck? what about 26ft box trucks?
EDIT: $5,000 NET per week not GROSS. The gross is around $7,000 - $8,000. Sorry for the confusion guys, can’t believe I got that mixed up when recording this video! 😅
Ohhhhhhh ard
For a moment I was like, this dude makes no money at all. :D
@@Tsetta1882 LMAOOOO understandably. Btw... glad to see another Tottenham fan!
@@boofu7289 Philly in this bitch lol
Is that dispatching only? Or did I see you have employed drivers? If dispatching only- How many trucks would you cover for that kind of money and at what percent?
This was one of the BEST presentations that I have seen thus far!!! So simple and easy to understand. Thank you for breaking things down so simple that even a child could understand. Peace & Blessings to you.
I thought I knew it all! I dispatch local
San diego /LA and always justify my high rate. You opened my eyes in a few fields. Thank you
As a former accountant and financial system consultant, now starting a box truck business, you truly offer a great financial perspective on this business. This is one of the best videos on the topic, great job, and this coming from a former financial professional. Great job.
Thank you, this is genuinely one of the best comments I've received!
This is great!
Hi Skipper Andy, I am also a former accountant and financial System analyst. I am looking to become a truck driver because I hate corporate politics. How has your experience been in the box truck business?
As a new carrier coming into this game I would like to say “Thank you”!! You just dropped some HUGE nuggets in my opinion!!! I’m very glad I ran across this video. And yes I subscribed!! Definitely will be fine toothing your library!
Again thank you sir!!
This is EXACTLY why I make content! So happy you were able to find my videos useful! Feel free to share it with your friends who are also drivers
Love! Love! LOVE! These Vids! I have been doing soooo much research and I have everything down packed, but YOUR vids are so easy and relatable. I am waayyyy more confident than I was with negotiating. Now I am extremely eager and ready to start this new journey! Thank You!
This is how to negotiate in any business! Been in furniture business for 20 years and now change to logistics. Start high, know your stopping point, and land in the middle. It’s easy to roll a ball down the hill instead of pushing it up.
Dude, your information is priceless. I really appreciate you. So far you have given the best concise information. Thanks bro.
That means a lot brother! That’s the goal for this channel! Straight to the point, high quality information with little-to-no fluff. I just want to create content that I wish was available to me when I started 👌🏽
Wow. So helpful. The most informative video yet that I've bumped into to help us new Dispatchers negotiate a rate. Much appreciated sir 🙏🏽.
Do you dispatch cargo vans?
I have watched so many videos of other people in trucking but I never subscribed until I watched this. Your video is very informative and thank you so much for this. I'm subscribed.
That means a lot Cassius! I want to make content that is actually useful and entertaining at the same time.
Solid video, clean sound, and professional advice- rare for this subject matter. Look forward to the next one. Would love some more deep dives into the spot rate and lane avg rpm tools on DAT
Will do! I’ll probably have to remake the DAT video down the road but I’ve got a few more interesting videos coming out soon that I would like to post first.
Thanks again for the nice comment and support brother!
@@Gill22 do you work alone, as freelance?
New subscriber . I like how clearly and effortlessly you break everything down. Thank you for the content
Appreciate it Lee! hope you enjoy the other videos on my channel as well 👌🏽
My cpm is under $1 that’s the beauty of older paid for truck. Even when I get my own trailer it should stay under it, however when I add the 60cpm for myself so I’m at $1.60 so anything over it from my 100k miles I drive is adding on top from $60k a year. I’m in Midwest so I have a great market imo, owned my truck for 5 months total miles so far has been easily over $3.5 round trip, I think main issue for most people is overhead and they dig themselves in debt so they end up running cheap crap cause they’re forced to. If I go to area there’s no loads I just go home. Main advice I’d say is build good relationships with brokers, even when loads are dry those brokers will give you a rate well above what they have posted.
wholeheartedly agree with you friend!
Your videos are filled with great tips and information. I am just starting out and appreciate you taking the time to make these videos, they really help. Thank you.
Very thorough information thank you. You gave us a lot of homework in just a bit of time. Blessings 😊
Very refreshing and informative. Thank you.
Gets old watching all the other "experts" who in reality might make more $$$ from UA-cam revenue that the actual income they create owning a truck.
Keep up the great videos
Yeah I never want to be seen as "UA-camr". I'm a dispatcher first, UA-camr second.
@@Gill22 Do you dispatch HotShot's ? My current dispatch does a great job, always good to have a plan "B"
Great information. I have a background in sales and now I'm entering this space and I must say, staying silent after your anchor price is KEY! Looking forward to learning more and being successful in this industry.
I’m gonna be buying a truck with my son in the next couple months when I move back out side of Nashville Tennessee and this has been super helpful thank you so much you’re the only person that I’m subscribed to now!! Don’t wanna miss any helpful information thanks again😁
Haha that’s really kind, thank you!

Freight rates are in the tank. Not easy at all to make it at this point for the independent owner ops out here. It's a viscious battle.
So how is it going? U bought yr truck?
by far the best info I've received on this topic thank you so much I will apply.
I'm new to the trucking field but I really like the information.Listening to a lot of you tube videos you really answer much of what I need answer.Ty

Bro, thank for all your hard work, you give lots of value, and game.
I like the way you speak about it very honest and clear to understand. Talking success not just starting
I appreciate it Raven!
The main goal is to help everyone that watches my channel become successful. I truly believe I can coach ANYONE in the trucking industry to 6-7 figures in a year but i can’t teach everyone 1 on 1 AND run my own company.
So i just make videos every now and again to help people as many people as i can for free!
You give golden nuggets on your channel. 🙌🏽
Thanks for such clear and concise guidance on this topic, Gill.
Thank you for your comment! Glad you found this video useful 👌🏽

Very happy you found it useful!
Really enjoy your videos. Do you have any openings, and do you have a lease purchase program
5k is on the lower spectrum of the earning curve. Coming from a place of experience, the market fluctuates and changes all the time. Currently as I'm leaving a comment, Atlanta isn't in a great shape and I wouldn't consider running around that area with it as your main hub. With time even if you drive all over the US, you will learn that there are several hot spots for every type of equipment and if you plan your routes accordingly to arrive in those hot spots once a week or so, you could be making double of what is talked about in the video.
Yeah I wholeheartedly agree. I don’t ever want to exaggerate numbers and give people false hope because there’s a lot of that going around in the industry. I think I left out the part where I said you can make $5K if you drive regional/local only, you’re home 3 days a week, and you only do dry van loads which is not bad at all.
Where are these hot spots?
What an awesome video Gill 👌🏼 I definitely subscribe to your channel. You make a great content and your right on time to help me with my projet 💥 stay safe and Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Ay glad to be of assistance! Btw I need to try out that Trucking Simulator. I bought a racing rig to play F1 2020 during the pandemic and haven't used it much since.
@@Gill22 your a kind of fresh air in this industry! I've 31 years old and it seems hard to start from scratch without experience and contact but at the same time, I really think it's possible to make a good life in trucking. I love big truck, I want to see some beautiful landscape and back road!! Also I want to stay in my actual business (financial advisor) so I'm figured out all this right now!!!
Yeah you got to try this, it's make me feel what I want feel for real 🤘🏼😎
Great video keep it up!

Really glad you enjoy it!!
Awesome information and very good delivery. Thank you so much, you have provided an incredible amount of information! I'm just in the beginning stages of research to determine if at 65 I want to buy a cargo van and travel the country and mix work with camping.
You awesome man thanks a lot !!
Subscribed. Don’t have a truck yet but I’m interested in getting into the box truck business in the near future.
Great information partner.

Thank you for this bro
Thanks for the info, some youtubers still live by the game is sold not told.
Amazing info!💸💸💸💸💸💸
Great points
Kool video. I'm thinking about diversifying my portfolio and giving the trucking logistic business a go here in Vegas. Your videos have been very informative and helpful in my decision to further my interest and maybe buy a truck soon. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Really glad to hear that! I just came back from a mini vacation in Vegas... I can't believe you locals can survive in that type of heat!
Anyways, trucking is a phenomenal business to get into and you can make a majority of it passive with the right management. I'll do my best to share all my knowledge on this channel!
@@Gill22 man you're a Beast! 💥

Great stuff 👍🏽
Thank you!
Great info !
Thank you TC!
Hi bro..
Your video is very useful.
Would you mind doing some live calls, how to negotiate btw love your work.
You're the man👍
Yes, I can definitely do that! Let me get a few more videos out and then I’ll integrate a live call into a video 👌🏽
Congratulations! You're the first trucker/business person in the trucking industry that I've come across on UA-cam that gets that they need to pay themselves; and that it's an expense that is included in their breakeven number. I would disagree with the 50k amount and make it at least 75K. Walmart drivers are making 100k a year and they aren't running a business. Actually, you should add burdened labor to include medical, dental, 401k and PTO. And, after run this exercise, you'll soon discover you can't get loads that pay enough and you really can't make a decent profit being in the trucking industry. You need to negotiate directly with the shippers to even have a shot at it. 😊
Awesome video
Thank you✨✨✨✨
