  • I hope you enjoyed watching me make this knife! Ben from ‪@txtoolcrib‬ chose a great toolset here. It's definitely a cutting machine with all of these different kinds of blades. What do you think about the toolset? Is it something that you would carry?
    Check out Ben's review of the knife here:

    I’m such a huge fan recently of the Victorinox Swiss knives. Something about them brings me back to my childhood and now that I’m an adult I’m just buying as many as I can. I’ve always had one but have always had a bunch of knives. But just recently, idk what happened but I thought to myself “why don’t I have more of these”. Then I see you guys custom building them and getting custom scales making them one of a kind. I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna build one, one for me. That no one else has. Something unique that fits me and my needs. I always carry a Leatherman Wave Plus but something about these Victorinox that can’t be replaced.

    Beautiful work and a nice set of tools. There must be a form available somewhere to give the rivets a nice domed finish, certainly back in the day I'm sure they would have been fairly common, I remember using them when I went to tech college. To be fair though you've made a very nice job of peening them over with a hammer. Your customer should be really happy with that custom build.

      @@FittoSurvive Happy Monday FtS, My selecting the 74mm scissors is just theoretical & it might not be practical if it won't work with the backspring on an 84mm sized frame, in which case a modified 85mm Wenger style scissors will be the way to go. IMO The real problem about scissors is to mount Victorinox larger scissors (those mounted on FARMER X? or on Swisstool X? Actually the best performing scissors around) on a RUIKE LD42-B in which scissors are a little weak for an otherwise very sturdy and effective Knife. Another thing to develop further about victorinox is the possibility to avoid fix rivets in favor of dis-mountable screws so the knife can be cleaned in depth, can be reconfigured over time...

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  Рік тому +1

    If I were to make my perfect do it all tool, I would not sacrifice any of the screw drivers. I would make a 5 layer knife with awl, main blade, wood saw, file, pruner blade, electrician blade, can opener, cap lifter.

      @@FittoSurvive I honestly was thinking of asking you about a build for myself. I was thinking green scales like micarta, denim or like Carhartt material, something grippy as long as I can get plus tool scales. Tweezer, Ferro rod in place of pick. A spyderco main blade, smaller secondary spyderco that's serrated karambit both 1 hand opening, and the main victorianox blade but serrated. Can opener, saw and the little pliers for grabbing hot stuff. An awl, corkscrew and philips at the back (the only tools I can think of for the back). Green g10 liners in place of aluminum if possible, if not, I really like brass. I really like the 111mm and 130mm sizes, the bigger the better. Lemme know what that would cost, ballpark. Canadian 👌🏽

    Is it possible to add the locking blade from one of the evolution series and use the dragonfly 2 blade, or run 2 locks for a scalpel and dragonfly 2 blade. If you could have 2 locking blades scissors, parcel hook and the bit driver I think it would make a hell of an bird and trout knife or a companion to a solid fixed blade for hunting. Maybe even throw the pliers on😮. If it’s at all possible.

    • @FittoSurvive
      @FittoSurvive  Рік тому +2

      I am still working on getting a locking blade to work. But havent had any successful experiments yet. The Evo locking blade has to use the Evo tool spring which is not compatible with the 84mm. Maybe the liner lock from a 111mm SAK will work though.
      I'll post a video once I get it worked out.

      I'd love to be able to make my own multitool. But why reinvent the wheel when I can just make improvements to an existing knife? If you buy a new car and put bigger tires on it, would someone tell you "why don't you just build your own car"? Make sense?
      Not being confrontational, I just don't see the problem. 😄
