- Just in time for the holidays, Toys R Us is back! The toy store giant has reopened its doors after the chain closed its 800 stores across the country after filing for bankruptcy in 2018. Iconic mascot Jeffrey the Giraffe was there to spread cheer. The new flagship store is located in the American Dream Mall in New Jersey, and Victoria's Secret model Chanel Iman couldn’t wait to bring her daughters. CBS Mornings co-host Nate Burleson was also there with his family.
Wow I can't believe it's back. I hope they start reopening in other places as well!
Hells yeah me too i Miami.
no, amazon or literally anything is better. everything is over priced as well. I was going to buy my nephew a nerf gun there for 60$, and i went on amazon to check to the price and it was on amazon and walmart for 40$
Let’s all pray for that.
I don't know Ollie's Bargain Outlet has bought a lot of the spots where the stores were
Only in Macy’s stores.
These stores were like heaven for kids. You could go in and find 100 things you wanted for Christmas every time. Best part was having a brother who would also get super hype and we'd run up to each other and eagerly share what we had jut found. "YOU GOTTA SEE THIS 😱". Ahhh... I miss those days when the biggest worry was which LEGO sets I was getting for Christmas and whether Santa really got my letter in time. I was lucky to get to go to Toys R Us though. Great stores. I just hope the business does well.
Super expensive though lol
Sound spoiled
@@spasplash156 Grinch!
yeah onceit closed Christmas was ruined for me there was a different vibe to when I would go with my mom on the subway from queens to Manhattan and then we would be at a mall where there was elevators and the whole toys r us store was huge. You could never get that out of amazon
@@spasplash156 I won't deny that. I was a very lucky kid.
This almost makes me cry of happiness. This makes me so filled with pure joy. I'm an older Gen-Z, and a Toys R Us kid, and I live in and grew up in Colorado, and so whenever we would go to Toys R Us, the nearest one was about 45 minutes away, so we only went every so often. And I always remember getting so excited whenever my aunt or parents would tell me and my brother that we would be going to Toys R Us.
I still sort of remember the layout of it! I remember that I would get something Sonic The Hedgehog related (because I was obsessed with Sonic The Hedgehog) and my brother would pick either something Pokémon related or a LEGO set.. it was such a good time.
And this makes me so so happy to see that Toys R Us is reopening (even if it ends up being just this one flagship store), because a brand new generation of kids get to experience the magic and wonder of going to Toys R Us.
Nicely said! Same here!
Same here!😭
😭😭
Bring back the New York city toys r us 😭😭
Same here
Glad that it's back. Going inside just trying out the game demos, gazing upon air hogs, Pokemon and Lego brought so much happiness to me as a tourist visiting US.
Game demos?
Hey theres a bug on your face
@@pouponboy6330 yeah they had these game systems out where you could play them in the store it was pretty fun
Toys r us was open already where I live
And skylanders especially for me
it was so over priced lol, cool childhood memory but horrible prices that you're just better off buying somewhere else online for the same product.
John ROBLOX?
yo
john ROBLOX?
But it’s nowhere near the same experience for the kids. People like you were the reason Toys “R” Us went out of business. Of course it’s easier to buy it online but it’s the experience of taking them to the toy store you obviously aren’t a parent
john shut the hell up and let people be happy (now we wait)
I will always have a place in my heart for Toys R Us
Same to me
And they will always have a place for your money 😂
@@stardog2779 well everything is money
@@stardog2779 nah bro target already filled up that department
This actually brought tears to my eye every kid should have these memories
*All right, Blockbuster. It's your turn now....*
And Radioshack
Can i get a reopen for Sears as well?
Lmao that would be awesome.
Caldor ur next
Blockbuster can stay closed, being charged for fake late fees killed my bank account
I always felt a feeling of sadness whenever I passed by my local toys r us and saw it empty. It’s more than just a store to me. It’s a special place that brings happiness and memories. I’m happy they have reopened.
If you were a kid growing up in the 80's, then you'll ALWAYS be a Toys R Us kid! So glad to see this piece of my childhood has made a comeback. I was in tears when they shut down.
Big facts; welcome back to this childhood store
Good to see a childhood favorite coming back. This is perfect 80's nostalgia.
Oof
I’m so happy! Once one of them opens in my area, I’m coming inmediately!
Sameee toy r us is my child hood. Store
@Kenzie Zea honestly shut up, Amazon is nothing compared to our childhood
@@Natalia-mw2hf we all relate bro toys r us is better it is nostalgia for kids
I live in arizona and i can't wait for toys r us to come back
They demolished the one by my house, honestly it was sad seeing a place gone that you went to as a kid. Hopefully they open up more. It definitely was the best toy store.
Mine turned into a Burlington Coat Factory.
Mine is empty, just sitting there. What makes the pain worse, is that I wasn’t the only one to go to my specific store as a kid. Literally my parents even went there as a kid.
Literally every birthday, I would go to the big warehouse store that was like an hour from me or the outlet version that was 10 minutes from me, and spend my birthday cash….
As someone from Canada that grew up with Toys R Us, I am so happy for y’all Americans rn, that must feel amazing
Thank you
One of the major problems with Toys R Us was that they started to sell knock offs that pretty soon it became a majority of their inventory in some stores that it started looking like the pharmacy toy section instead of an actual legitimate toy store with taste in inventory selection. But that’s just my opinion
Is this true? Why so many bootlegs?
@@yoshisarethebomb china
@@truck6280 no, why so many bootlegs in the store
@@yoshisarethebomb maybe they weren't clear in the first place. *_China_*
Anyone just started watching inside and couldn’t stop
This is great to hear. I was definitely a Toys R Us kid growing up and am happy the kids of today can have that same experience I did. Hopefully where I live in L.A. more will reopen.
@@brightmacsworld8353 ??? He never said they were open, he said he hoped they will reopen
I'd love a Toys R Us to re-open where I live. However, it needs to be a dedicated store like the one featured in this video. It can't be some neglected toy corner in a Macy's like they plan for most locations.
And i think some of their old stores were just Too big too. These smaller stores inside malls should be more efficient for them
@@ciello___8307 The irony is that it is the niche KB Toys once filled before they lost to Toys R Us.
I am so happy to hear it's being reopened. Look forward to seeing them locally again sometime!
I remember the joy it brought me when my parents would bring me there! I now know that it was usually in November/ December to see what I was wanting for Christmas (smart on them) and it's a great tactic for parents! Give your kids the chance to actually see what they want and interact with others. Brick and mortar doesn't have to die and online shopping isn't evil we just need to find a happy medium! 😊
Good news for Toys R Us! They have gotten knocked & chose not to give up. Even in a country with high competition, there is a chance & hope... as long as you believe it exists. Add oil Toys R Us!
Instead of using the term "Add oil" or 加油, you can use "keep it up!", "let's go!" or "more power". ☺ - just a guy studying mandarin
It's enough to make an old man cry! 😭
And that's okay! :,)
This chain need to slowly come back. This is my childhood as well as many others like me.
I hope that Toys R Us continues to succeed from this comeback. For making my childhood special, they deserve to be able to make other kids’ childhoods more special.
I remember as a kid, always on my birthday me and my family used to go their and I could grab as much things as long as it’s under $200.
Glad it’s back and running!
Wow were you rich 😆😉
@@TheGeneralgaming24 I would say, me and my family were in a pretty average living situation.
I’m really happy to see this, I love toys r us and I’m glad the new youth can experience what we all got to experience and enjoy as a kid, it’s a blessing
best memories with riding the bikes through the store
Unlike Amazon, you get to actually look, and feel the products (in the store) before buying them. Plus, you get to purchase it, and bring it home with you, ON THAT DAY.
Can't wait for my children to experience how fun beyblade were 😀
I grew up on Toys R Us and I remember it being the happiest place when I was a kid. I was super devastated when it closed down. But now, I’m glad it’s starting to open back up so kids of today and the newer generation can experience and enjoy.🥺
Bringing back the nostalgia
Toys R Us is like a wonderland for children. I got an amazing rc car from there as a child. There was a Babies R Us nearby too.
Yup I had one in a plaza and babies r us was right beside it!
We did it. We won.
its kind of funny that the only times when i went i never bought anything because everything is over priced
Toys R Us returning like this reminds me of how the FNAF locations reopen
I'm willing to bet amazon's prices will drop to a near loss, just to undercut Toys R Us.
It doesn't feel like they were closed in 2018, more like 6 months ago or at least a year
That place was my life! I was so shocked and heartbroken when they shut down. But now they have come back to our memories for kids who loved that place as a kid
I remember my parents didn’t have a lot so I used to just window shop and twist the knobs on the Lego sets that were on display.
the world finally has soul again (I know I’m two years late but idk)
I worked at the Modesto California store for 6 yrs , I really liked working there , my favorite thing to do was be Geoffrey Giraffe or GiGi depending on which costume was sent . The new costume is taller and skinner , I wonder if it's lighter than the old one .
Man childhood dreams! Though I have grown out of most children toys there, besides ones teens would mostly be interested in, it was fun to walk the aisles!😍
Sad what Technology is doing to kids. All they know now is electronics smh
For a new generation? It's only been closed 3 years.
If they reopen all abandoned the other ones I’d be good
I’m so happy it’s back I promised my dad when I was a 4 to buy me a shopkins toy but when it closed I cried and it was so much fun I’m glad it’s back :)
They failed due to poor sales decisions, such as being slow in the online market compared to competition like Amazon. If they want to truly make a comeback they need to gain a foothold in that market.
I fondly remember the UK TV ad during the 90s ("there's a magical place, we're on our way there"). I used to think the shop came alive during the night and dreamt of going on a midnight toy shopping spree with my parents. I really wanted to go into the Toys R Us close to where I live, but we only drove past it as there were other shops closer that sold toys. I did get to finally go into it as an adult not long before its bankruptcy to buy my nephew a birthday gift. That branch of Toys R Us infamously became a location of an illegal rave right after its closure. Not so magical as a grown-up. Fortunately, we do still have the oldest and biggest toy shop, Hamleys, and now the chain Smyths.
Got to love American materialism! Back in the day I was outside eating dirt.
Man, I hope they bring them back everywhere. We had 3 of them in my area and it was so much easier to shop for birthdays and Christmas for my kids!
Who else felt like the world was ending when they closed toys “R” Us
Well covid did happen the year after so...

It was out of our price range when I was a kid, so I've never been to Toys R Us. I want to visit now, just to at least see what it's like 🥺

Knowing my generation grew up on Toys R Us and now we’re bringing our kids there now is everything!!!
I can't even express how happy I am!
Kids need to read books, play with toys.
I was sad to see the Toy's R Us close....I'm not much of a online shopper and did most of my Xmas shopping for my kids at that place and we would take the kids to pick out a toy every now and then and it was just fun to see them so happy....you don't get that excitement from your kids by looking at a computer screen
As a 6 year old walking into Toys R Us made my day, when it closed down in 2018 I was heartbroken. But I'm happy its back for a new generation to experence.
I love it! I remember my childhood days there :)
I remember when it closed in 2018, I bought my nephew a toy truck from there and a few stuffed animals. I was so saddened to hear when it first went out of business. I grew up there as a kid and I am so happy to hear that they made a new generation of toys r us, hopefully they will go worldwide.
Online convenience will never outmatch going to Toys R Us 💖
Little boy who high fived the giraffe so freaking adorable ❤️

Awesome!! Wouldn’t have had to bring it back if sleazy short sellers hadn’t manipulated the stock into bankruptcy. Support companies that Wall Street slime tries to destroy using the stock market. Go Toys R Us …and don’t forget… AMC to the moon! 🚀
I'm so glad Yehuda Shidman and his rabbi Moishe Bergowitz were able to bring back Toys R Us! I know in their hands and their financial firm Goldstein LSD this toy store will service children around the USA!

It's like seeing an old friend, so glad that they back.
Toysrus went bankrupt for a reason. There wasn't a place for it in the marketplace anymore. A lot of people want it back but why. Who went there. We all started shopping at Walmart and Amazon. This idea will fail
Brings back tear just to think of what it felt like when toys r us closed after being such a big part of my childhood.
You just can’t be sad at a toy store. There’s always something to peak your interest or curiosity as a kid. One of my fondest memories was Toys R Us giving me access to Lego sets, and action figures of my favorite superhero’s🥲
I am very glad about Toys R Us reopening🤩, but it was only closed for three years, the same generation that experienced it still does.
I'm going back to just buy a bunch of toys when they come to Alaska... yes I'm 16
