      As an ex hairdresser, I've definitely witnessed consultations where communication between a client and hairdresser sucks and they don't stop or clarify their requests. I've seen someone come in with a photo of auburn hair, talking about the cut, walking out with a colour and no cut and say NOTHING

    Dyson converted their factory in the UK 🇬🇧 and is making ventilators for the hospitals ❤️ any company stepping up at this moment in time is being etched in my mind!!! I will support Dyson in the future. Do not feel bad for supporting a luxury company that is doing their part in helping save lives, you have the means to afford it. Thanks for making videos, you help brighten my day. Right now any happy moments mean the world 🗺

      Dyson moved its head office to Singapore in 2019, and manufacturing is done in Malaysia for some time already. I don’t think there is any Dyson manufacturing currently done in UK even though some of the design is done in UK. Also, these ventilators they are supposedly making have not got Public Health England approval and thus cannot be used whereas smaller manufacturers without links to the Conservative party who are already producing appropriate ventilators have not been asked by the UK government. Dyson also supported the Brexit campaign and while it is stated that his move to Singapore has nothing to do with Brexit it is still questionable as the economic impact is going to be quite something.
      And yes, I do have Dyson products (airwrap and vacuum and cooling tower) and like them but I do struggle in light of their political associations because I was forced to apply to continue living at my own home in London. So I personally am torn.
      Just thought it worth adding another perspective although I liked Tati’s review and each person will make their own decisions based on the facts that they take on. Fortunately or unfortunately my hair is so straight that straightening is unnecessary. Curling, now that is another matter entirely.
      Stay safe and healthy everyone!

      People with straight hair want to know how well straighteners work too. They don't just crush curls into straight hair, they get rid of flyaway hairs and make hair look smooth and shiny. I want to see that as someone with straight hair. But I agree it also would've been good if she curled it and then straightened it or something, just to also see it's ability to curl and then flatten again.

    I feel like people are judging tati pretty harshly for straightening her straight hair. I can see a lot of difference from her u straightend to her straighted hair, because my hair is the same way as her. It is just about how the hair falls and the look of the hair afterwards. It still amazes me how people don’t understand that you can literally curl your hair with any flat iron in the world. A ten dollar flat iron can curl your hair. You can also do beach waves/crimp it with any flat iron.
    I think I’d wait for the next release of their flat iron. That one is as bulky as a brick. I’d be money that the next release will be thinner and hold a charge way longer. 30 minutes is wack. You definitely couldn’t use that in a salon.

    As someone who has actually academically studied the engineering of electrical tools like this, here's some thought on the tech without having done any Dyson-specific research:
    The weight of the device is not necessarily a deliberate choice. I'm sure Dyson did their best to minimize the weight of this product. But batteries are HEAVY, and they need some BEEFY batteries to power a heating implement for any length of time. It's not like Dyson was like "Hey you know what people need? Stronger shoulders."
    On the topic of temperature monitoring 100x/s... Firstly, as far as refresh rates/data collection rates are concerned, that's not even super fast for a simple process. Secondly: To heat quickly, more energy is used than needed to maintain the heat, so energy usage needs to be actively regulated during intial warmup. Also, as you use the iron it will cool as heat goes into hair/air/moisture/whatever. To keep every part of the iron the same temperature during each whole pass, this requires frequent updates. ALSO, heating implements sometimes "fail hot" and it can happen very fast. So it is maybe a safety feature as well.
    General comments on price: powerful AND long lasting batteries, human-safe heating elements, and powerful motors are all relatively costly parts, especially if you need them to be long-lasting since they cannot be easily replaced (such as in compact consumer products like Dyson's straightener, dryer, etc). It would be wrong to assume it's all branding and markup.
    Any additions/critiques of these thoughts?

    • @sarahwithstars
      @sarahwithstars 4 роки тому +22

      THANK YOU - like dah the weight is obviously the battery, why does she have to film these reviews so fast before engaging her brain and common sense and reading more?!? She doesn't have to be first, her audience would prefer if she wasn't a moron.

      @jannatdhanjal 4 роки тому +54

      @@sarahwithstars sorry, but that's really harsh. I don't think anyone is saying that Dyson does not have these cool new technologies. No one is saying that these technologies are not expensive and that Dyson doesn't work hard on it's products. But what everyone is conflicted about it whether these things are actually even NEEDED in flat irons or not! And that's exactly what Tati's saying. Like, yes, it's expensive and it's for a good reason, but is that even needed?

    • @laurabolt5412
      @laurabolt5412 4 роки тому +22

      Oh! As an edit: I really like Tatis honest consumer opinion. Sometimes when designing a product we get lost in "can?" and lose track of "should?". It just sounded like she had some questions about design choices and I like to speculate answers! I'm sure we will continue to hear more about this product from her and others so that future generations of this technology address common issues like weight and cost. The Model T of this tech hasn't happened yet but maybe it will!

    My bad hair straightener experience is my own fault, I used to do my hair naked. Hear me out..to get ready I would take a shower, do my make up, do my hair, AND THEN get dressed. Well one day I was straightening my hair, I lost my hold of it, and THE IRON BRUSHED AGAINST MY NIPPLE. That’s right, I burned my nipple. This was 6 years ago and I still have the scar. Lesson learned.

    People are being critical of her hair being straight already blablabla, first she said she is not good at doing hair so criticizing the technique is stupid, second of it all people with straight hair also use flat irons to have a more "finished" hairstyle, even Asians that have really heavy straight hair do it so why u coming for her?
    As a tech and beauty enthusiast i really enjoy the video, Dyson is killing in this field and even though i surely dont have the money to afford it if i could i would and i bet you that for a professional this would be a good thing to have too so can you guys just stop pls.

      Which is why I don't say I need to "straighten" my hair. I say "flat iron". There is a huge difference if I don't do it, esp when my hair is short. It's very puffy, slightly frizzy, and the ends are curled up on one side b/c I can't blow dry with both hands. When I flat iron my hair, it's very sleek and soft, and bone straight. I cannot live without my flat iron. My hair looks ridiculous.

    The only way I would be interested in that thing is if it’s given to me lol. The price is absurd. It’s just a flat iron. I could’ve done that with my $30 Remington. It’s not cordless but it has a long cord and it swivels. You can curl with any flat iron. The reason it’s not problematic in the ways you described is because it’s brand new.
    If you’ve got the money and you want to treat yourself...have at it but really...I couldn’t part with that much money to straighten my hair.

    • @xoxomoniqua

      Tony Wesley it was pretty meh and he didn’t think it was worth the money unless you were a professional stylist. It left some weird kinks in the hair and it had to be turned all the way up to get a result even close to decent. It certainly wasn’t bad, and it did work, but not any better than a $50 flat iron from the drug store.

    • @Tonyredbone
      @Tonyredbone 4 роки тому +1

      @@alexzandraenger613 I could certainly understand that. I've been a stylist or 27 years. And I've used $10 flat irons and I've used $100 flat irons and have not noticed a major difference to be honest with you. Heat is heat. Of course some to get a lot hotter then others but it's all and just how many times you have to go over the hair
