I can’t hear Arcane Jinx from Ella… I mean, her actual voice is just so different from the character she portrayed, which just blows my mind because that’s talent.
Because these are not the voice actors of Arcane I think, since Jinx in Arcane is voiced by Hailee. Maybe that's why you can't hear Arcane Jinx from Ella, because she's not her voice from the show but from the game (or something else).

I can hear it on her lower and raspy voice tones when she talks. Jinx in the show has a sort of crackle/rasp in her voice

@@religious5948 Ikr? I went in with fairly high expectations seeing as it was being made by Riot and Fortiche and not some third party, but damn. They blew my expectations out of the water.
I also concur that having prior knowledge didn’t help much… for those who are NOT familiar in the games Jinx is portrayed more as a Harley-Quinn-esque character… sure she’s got a violent streak but somewhere deep inside she’s still got a lovable side… and tends to direct her destructive tendencies at ‘the bad guys.’
This went so far off left field… there’s a reason I’ve said ‘it like comparing mark Hamil to heath ledger’ over and over…
I think people with zero knowledge will enjoy more because all of the surprise
It been my favourite show at the moment and the writing and graphics are top notch. You can tell there was a lot of passion and care put into each and every scene and character.

Tbf Katie Leung just made me appreciate Caitlyn for the first time (always thought the original VO sounded too... middle aged...)

yea i always thought the in game voice was too old lady
idk if they matched the character's appearance with the actor, or picked the actors based on the characters. Cuz Cait's father is likely Ionian(Asia-inspired region) and her mother is Piltovan(Europe based) and Katie has a background very similar to Cait.
Was Cait always half Ionian? Or was this a checkbox Netflix thing?
@@Garl_Vinland She wasn't since her parents barely had any mention before, but I wouldn't call it a checkbox thing since Netflix is usually more ham-fisted with that. I'm kinda assuming they're mostly just there to distribute the show, Riot should have enough in the bank to make Arcane on their own.

@@jfoldger1184 You are forgetting that she is a TV and movie star so that likely gave her an edge against VO actors who sadly rarely become famous. The fact they also chose Hailee Steinfeld to portray Vi makes me think they specifically wanted live actors over voice actors.

Of course they didn't know when these were recorded, but now we know that Arcane is phenomenal, and a large part of that was because of the voice acting. Everyone did such good jobs bringing life to the characters. I can hardly wait for season 2.

Katie is LOVELY. I looked into her journey from (the honestly at times harrowing) experience of filming Cho in HP, and she really found her own way. I love that she continued acting. IRC she is also a gamer, have vague memories of her doing some sessions on her insta livestreams.
I wish katie could came to the premier, was watching it and no one talked abt caitlyn, its sad tbh

I never played the game and wasn't expecting much from the Netflix show. Turns out to be an absolute masterpiece and the best animated series I have ever seen, in no small part thanks to the excellent voice performances. Thank you for this great video!
they popped off as VA, and not even biased from watching their premiere night interviews. Ella killed Jinx's role and Katie portrayed Caitlyn with justice. They shoulda interviewed Vi's VA as well! The ending question was too funny, im most def did not get better at league lol, but my knowledge/moment with the show will suffice.
they have interviewed Hailee multiple times, its just that shes really busy promoting the two other tv shows shes currently in, one being Hawkeye.

Ella Purnell..... Breathtaking...
It sent me shivers whenever she did voice for Jinx when it changed to a maniacal tone.
I knew nothing about the game except that I recognized Jynx and Vi from ads and thougg it was a masterpiece.
Jynx isn't evil because she's evil, she's a very broken girl and is battling demons she doesn't want. It shows very well how PTSD shapes someone
What I appreciate is how doesn’t portray “crazy” as this one note - you can feel her instability and in some moments legit have no idea what she’s gonna do. She suffers about her trauma in one scene and in the next one is intimidating people with the knowledge that others FEAR her craziness - Jinx both weaponized and is victimized by her mental illnesses.

All of the voice actors and actresses were incredible, but honestly I thought Ella's performance was absolutely inspired

Ella's english accent is what i feel Jinx/Powder would sound like if she was born and raised in Piltover ✨ and Katie's deep voice style for Caitlyn really suits the character 🙌

I've been watching Yellowjackets at the same time as Arcane, not knowing Ella voiced Jinx. I doubt I'll even be able to hear her when I watch Arcane again. For someone who isn't a voice actor, she did a phenomenal job.

Ella Purnell: Real accent is British (not sure which.) Character accent is American
Katie Leung: Real accent is Scottish. Character accent is British (I’m guessing a bit posh and higher up/royalty would sound)
I find it quite cool how voice actors can change their accents and voices to sound like the character they’re playing which is cool.
Scottish is a British accent. They are part of Great Britain. You mean English accent and Scottish accent. They are both British.

It's interesting that Ella Purnell chose Jinx from Arcane and Gwyn from Star Trek: Prodigy to work on, because they have similar themes of being caught between a shadowy side with a father figure and an idealistic side with perhaps more overt care from those around her.
