    people obsessive too much on the DAC chip. The important area is how its implemented and the output stage IMHO.

    I had the Liberty Dac for 30 days, it’s MQA and excepts those new balanced rca cables. I agree with your preliminary statements for most headphones the Liberty will be all you need in a headphone amp. I used it with a pair of Sennheiser hd600 and 7 other pair of headphones and I liked the results. The treble is excellent with the separation between instruments.
    If I’m not mistaken I believe you can buy an additional power supply. I used it in my full blown two channel set up and my headphones set up and found its performance to price ratio surprising to say the least. This thing is well ventilated and I kept it on and it never got hot. Liberty packed a ton of features in this small unit. I think Mytek did a great job and I think your final review will be favorable. I had a blast with it.

    Wait...only 900euro. Yes I said 'only 900euro"
    Remove DSD and MQA, cut the price.
    Where is the review? I want it. Is it powerfull enough for headphones? Or is it a dac with a headphone output slapped on it.
    Will it replace my Rupert Neve RNHP?
    Edit
    It's volume is only digitally controlled. So only at 100% you get the full dynamics. Lowering the volume, you loose bits. So it's still only useable as a dac.😒

    • @BunnyslippersEUC
      @BunnyslippersEUC 4 роки тому +1

      @Boboiboy@93
      From my understanding it has 32 bits volume steps. By removing bits the volume gets lower. 16bits is 50% volume, but the loudest parts in a song are compressed. This is the easest way to lower volume.
      You can experiment this yourself. Android phones only have 16 volume steps. If you have a portable amplifier, you set your phone at 4 or 8 and the amp at an appropriate level. Listen to a song. After that you set the phone to 16 and lower the level on the amp.

      Having listened to it for a bit now, it's not too far on the analytic side straight out of the headphone output. Sundara is fine but one word of caution, this isn't the best output for higher sensitivity headphones like the Elegia. The amp has too much power for that.

      @@TheHEADPHONEShow Oh ok. I've heard the new & old Yggy side by side & the new one definitely improves on it. Fantastic value for the price as it trades blows with dacs twice its price (the two aforementioned) but it's also a different style of R2R. All of the R2R dacs I've heard beside it are NOS so some say they are dark & lack slam relative to delta sigma but I think it's overstated a bit. I had hoped Drop's Airist R2R dac would make R2R more popular but unfortunately at least from media coverage the pendulum swung in the opposite direction. Not a lot of recent coverage on these dacs so hopefully Headphones.com gets some through there at some point.

      @TheHEADPHONEShow  4 роки тому +4

      @@bepresent4235 Yeah I have done some in the past. In general I don't think there's a huge difference going from the less expensive stuff to the more expensive stuff unless you already have really high end headphones. And by high end I mean like nanoscale planars or something like a Utopia or Verite. There's still a difference with mid-level headphones, but the degree to which you notice it (or are able to successfully identify which is which in a blind test) will depend on the rest of the system. To be sure, the headphone matters the most. But at this point we're trying to think of what's the optimal system for a given headphone and figuring out what the optimal pairing is. To give an example, my Cayin IHA-6 powers my Verite just fine, but it's far from the ideal amplifier for it. Not because it can't power it, but because a high end tube amp would do better for that headphone. So you could go with a Magni 3+ or Heresy, power most headphones just fine, but it also would be far from the ideal system. It's the difference between 90% and 100%.

    • @TheHEADPHONEShow
