oh my god i was doing some research into this keeb and stumbled on this video. i am so glad i did, i love their style of editing oh my lordie lord. well done
You are my current favorite keeb youtuber. Something about your editing and cinematography just hits me hard. I wish you would upload more and more brands sponsor you. Great video as always brother!
thank you so so much bro, that means a lot to me! definitely going to be uploading a whole lot more, starting to get into the rhythm of ideating and producing content!
I just suscribed from watching the last video, but the sound and aesthetic of this one just made me sure of the decision. Not a Custom Keyboard hobbyst... but maybe will in the future. I love the sound of those keystrokes.
@@malte3421 personally i don’t think light tactiles like mx browns should be lubed due to the way it makes them feel less crisp. i just do a spring swap and i’m done. that said, modding switches is just as subjective as the rest of the hobby.
You may just be tactile switch fan :) My very first switch on a non-vintage board (which were always MX Black) was MX Brown. I enjoyed them but found I was not a fan of tactile MX, even though later I would go on to get a Topre board for work, but it's still a classic switch and I always know when I'm typing with them. My wife uses them exclusively now :) I think in today's clone market with the constant pursuit of smoothness, which don't get me wrong as a linear guy I enjoy (years back we were lubing everything too), is that people don't realize some texture isn't always a bad thing and may be preferable for some. It's just adds mechanical feedback & character, which to me really works on some boards. I really enjoy Hyperglides, as they're improvements on the prior retooled ones and a worthy successor to vintage Cherry switches, so I'll always have some on hand. I will say for me, back in the olden times, I was swapping in brown or blue Cherry springs into blacks for most keys, usually leaving the stock heavier spring in the spacebar and like caps lock. Now I still do, just with progressive/multi-stage 'nicer' options that are in the 55-68g range. Cheers!
If you find mx blacks heavy consider spring swapping or mx reds which are just blacks but lighter. Cherry springs have a lot of ping though so I would just swap them.
The problems are: 1. the colors do not have the black, silver or grey that someone would like to have a cheap mechanical keyboard use in the workplace. 2. the seal stickers are used for warranty on the screws, customers must have a trade off to open up the case for their own modifications. 3. the switches are come with the keyboard which is good, but cherry mx switches are not ideal switches for someone, and they are paying for those switches with the keyboard cases. If customers change other sets of switches and keycaps once they receive it, the leftover value of the keyboard is not much. I don't think the sticker things at the back of the keyboard is a big issue since everyone can peel it. I hope Monokei can consider the issues I listed for the next generation standard keyboard. Thank you for your video.
Hahaha the long and winding journey back to MX Browns. Gotta love it. I must say that blue Standard is really growing on me. Good to see you back mate.
Again Avi, top tier content! Love the shots, color, everything in this video was amazing! Great work :) (Also LOVED that you answered all the other questions -including mine-)
I do shoot on a bmpcc4k, but I re-crop in post so It's compressed to 1080p. Sometime soon I'll start my uploads in 4k!! Thanks so much for the kind words too.
I would definitely look into trying out the KNC Keys Green Jacket switches if you are in the market for a clacky long pole tactile with excellent quality and factory lubing. Great video! I really enjoy your content.
Scratch on the browns, or any other switch, definitely adds character. Kind of sad that the market leans to a future of smooth switches and leaves behind an audience looking for scratchy and chalky switches. I probably have commented this in every mx black sound test lmao, but I really just cannot use a smooth switch; what's there to feel?
Looking forward to possibly ordering this build! Just wish there was more switch options but I can always switch them out myself. BTW could you recommend a good keycap and switch puller? The ones that come with my prebuilt keyboards seem terrible.
New subscriber! Love how you produce your videos man! i'm a freelance photographer and videographer btw. Top notch video production man new approach ❤️
I didn't start with cherry browns or blacks but once I swapped the springs and lubed my cherry blacks, I really do like them. (used some 205g0 and 18mm 65g springs from Geonworks, where I bought my hg blacks.) I'm really starting to wonder how different GHv4 lube is in comparison to 205g0. I hear it's really good on cherry switches.
hmm this is a tricky one since ive only had the tofu and keychron q2 - i think it depends on what you define as "value". if you see value as having as many features possible and it being aluminium, then keychron is your best bet, but if you see value as a well considered package that you don't need to tinker with - this is your best bet. hope that makes sense? haha
Mx browns are an amazing switch, thanks for keeping an open mind and trying them out before hating on them

This is a really well filmed, storied and designed video. I rarely comment but I just wanted to put that out there. Thanks for this video!
the mx brown cycle is something many enthusiasts find themselves in. embrace the endgame switch
Not the first time I've heard this. Maybe I have to go get some browns, lube and film them and see how they stack up against my other tactiles
Kinda sad that the mx clear is overlooked though

@@chunkymilk1288 i think if cherry retooled clear stems so they no longer have the keycap stem issue they’d be more popular.
@@mena4108 you swap the springs to deal with ping crunch I assume? If I get them, I'll give that a try first and see if that's good enough for me

luv it. full nylon mx gives the best sound. i agree with the scratchiness as well
