I’m still mourning the loss of Chris Cornell. His voice is so beautiful. And Eddie Vedder...my god...the voice and passion that man has is EVERYTHING 💚.
I was lucky enough to see this song performed live at the Lalapalooza tour. Sound Garden and Pearl Jam were there. They came out together to do The Temple of the Dog songs. Ministry. Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ice Cube. Damn that was a good festival.
Temple of the Dog is actually just the collaboration of members from Soundgarden and PearlJam ...just for this one time album..I believe it was 2 guitarist and bassist from Pearl Jam with Cornell and Vedder added with Soundgardens drummer...I May be wrong . Im sure I wll be corrected
Yeah pretty much. Chris and Matt from Soundgarden, and Stone and Jeff from Mother Love Bone (just at this point starting Pearl Jam), with Mike McCready also. This album was written by Chris Cornell, and Eddie sang backup on just a few songs
Eddie has a beautiful baritone and lays the foundation with which Chris can play. I don’t think Eddie is “outshined” here....he holds the mix all together....the other parts are just “flashier” if you will. I loved this collaboration...never heard it before.
Chris wanted to sing both the High and Low register Vocals but he was struggling with the Low register, so Eddie stepped up and sang them. Chris was really happy with the way it came out and because of this Eddie gained the respect of his new band mates.
This song was before pearl jam formed if u did not know, u probably did, but i highly doubt that is true about the low register, chris's low and high register is amazing, as u can see in beyond the wheel (live especially).
The bassist name is Jeff Ament. He's a really cool dude and underrated if you ask me. You should check out Times of Trouble and Reach Down off of this album. Chris Cornell goes off on those songs.
THIS was the grunge era masterpiece! The entire album was phenomenal. "Reach Down" is another banger showcasing Mike McCready's amazing guitar solo. A grunge standard!
🤯 Saw them perform this at Global Citizen Festival and it chills me to the very core everytime I hear it afterwards. Last time I saw Chris. 😞 RIP 🥺🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
So this album is a collaboration by members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, the album is for Andrew Woods the lead singer of MotherLoveBone who passed away and who they were all friends with. Say Hello to Heaven is specifically for Andrew, but even the name Temple of the Dog is from MotherLoveBone. Eddie and Chris are epic together!!! 🤟😃🤟
Great reaction. This was an early collaboration between two of the giants of the Seattle scene. This came out before the first Pearl Jam album, so it was the first time anyone got to hear Eddie Vedder. I'd agree Chris's voice is more "epic", he was exceptionally gifted - and I'd say that not may singers can match Chris Cornell for epicness.. Eddie Vedder's voice is a bit more grounded, a rich powerful and passionate voice.
Temple of the Dog is a tribute to Andrew Wood, lead singer of Mother Lovebone. He and Chris were roommates. I'd suggest "Stardog Champion" or "Crown of Thorns" as starting points.
Temple of the Dog is tribute/memorial to Andy Wood, lead singer of Mother Love Bone. Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron from Soundgarden with Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament from Mother Love Bone and Pearl Jam and Eddie Veddar and Mike McCready from the new band Pearl Jam (Mooky Blalock Blues). Eddie was in the studio during the session and Chris asked him to sing and was extremely impressed with how ge attacked the song. Check out Stardog Champion and Chloé Dancer/Crown of Thorns by Mother Love Bone.
Pearl jam rose from the ashes of Andrew wood, lead singer for a band called mother love bone. Chris from soundgarden was best friends with Andrew. Eddie never met Andrew. But was a great addition to pearl jam and he wanted to be apart of there loss.
Temple of the dog is actually a colaboration band featuring members of "Mother love Bone" (they'd go on to become Pearl Jam with Eddie vedder as the lead singer) and Chris Cornell from the band "Soundgarden." It's kind of a one of band that was a tribute to "Andy Wood" the lead singer of "Mother Love Bone" who died of a drug overdose.
Reach Down (also about Andrew Wood) is a good song by Temple of the Dog if you want a nice long guitar soloing jamming out style song. Call Me A Dog is a good slow, ballad type song too by them.
Epic! Check out Eddie Vedder doing Porch at Global Citizens Festival from 2018 an then tell me who got the best voice!! Eddie just as good as Chris ( RIP) !!!
Thank you from my heart for a deep dive review, this band deserves the granular attention you give them. TOTD is deep & intense & I for one cannot play only one song. It's the whole album or nothing. A work of art from start to finish. If you haven't yet, just give it a spin all the way through, uninterrupted. This one has seen me through the lowest points of my life. Thank you CC. ♡
Temple of a Dog is a tribute album to Andrew Wood. The guitarists of Pearl Jam with Chris and Matt from Soundgarden. Eddie isn't only on this tune, but he's singing backgrounds on a few.
Temple of the Dog was what used to be called a "supergroup," meaning members of two or more famous bands collaborating to form a new band, in this case Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.
If you haven't already reacted to Sonic Youth, here are some recommendations: "Kool Thing" " On the Strip" "Teen Age Riot" "Dirty Boots" Yeah, since you seem to like great bassists, Sonic Youth is worth checking out.
love the videos and I love that you are open to new music and you have musical knowledge which is readily apparent. So I want to throw you a curveball and suggest something rather cerebral. Take a peek at Tool....I would suggest "The Pot" or the live version of "Sober" to get yourself ready for umm well lets just say an experience and in advance your welcome...lol
Eddie did apparently step into one as the story goes. They became very good friends. A heartbreaker is " Comes Then Goes" from Pearl Jam's latest album. It is about their deep friendship but Eddie is a talented lyricist and doesn't call it right out.
I think the song was a commentary on the people making customers paying such high ticket prices to their concerts. They didn't mind taking from the record company, but they didn't want to take bread from the people who really support them.
Actually Eddie had already pretty much joined the band. Calling themselves Mookie Blaylock (later Pearl Jam) and was in the studio while they were recording the Temple of the Dog album from my understanding. Mookie Blaylock’s first show was in October 1990 at the Off Ramp when they opened for Alice In Chains, Temple of the Dog album was recorded in November so Eddie had pretty much already joined the band
I am wrong on them opening for Alice in Chains on their first show, they opened for them in December. The first show in October was with a couple other bands called Bathtub Gin and Inspector luv and the Ride me Babies 🤘🏽
This was Eddie Vedder’s audition for the lead singer of “Pearl Jam”. All the musicians in this song are the members of Pearl Jam, except Soundgarten lead singer Chris Cornell, who set Eddie Vedder up to be in this video. The day after Vedder got in town. I THINK 😉 the band was pretty blown away (Cornell was confidant they would be - enough to shoot this video) by Eddie Vedder’s performance. The rest is history.
Eddie had already joined the band by the time they were recording this album. He happened to be in the studio while they were rehearsing and noticed Chris having trouble on certain parts so he stepped in. Jack Irons is the one who deserves the credit for giving Eddie the audition tape, which was several months before Temple of The Dog went into the studio
CAN YOU PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Listen to soundgarden: Limo wreck(best soundgarden song), temple of the dog: reach down or four walled world and audioslave: getaway car or I am the highway
They were from the street like most of gen x , coming from broken homes ,. Drugs and depression,. So we were truth , looking to take kindness over greed and power ,. We were all one ,. Sick and tired of all our fam working for nothing bill to bill
I don't agree that Chris outshined Eddie....generally speaking, just my opinion, but Chris is the 2nd best vocalist of all time...Eddie is #3....but on this song (again, my opinion), they were equally amazing.
Chris is anger, Eddie is sadness.
I’m still mourning the loss of Chris Cornell. His voice is so beautiful. And Eddie Vedder...my god...the voice and passion that man has is EVERYTHING 💚.
Seattle kid here. I'm still hurting too. He was the voice of my generation.
Two of the best voices in music. It doesn't get any better than that. If you haven't heard "Say Hello 2 Heaven" it's definitely worth a listen.
Thank you for reacting to this ❤ Eddie Vedder sang back up vocals in Say Hello To Heaven
they all got together in memory of the singer for MotherLoveBone.
T You should really do wooden Jesus And that is my 2 cents peace out!!!!
Chris was every where ,he was loved.Chris would do a concert by himself.
One of my all time favorite songs! The 90s had the most amazing rock. The college rock stations were ahhh-mazing.
I was lucky enough to see this song performed live at the Lalapalooza tour. Sound Garden and Pearl Jam were there. They came out together to do The Temple of the Dog songs. Ministry. Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ice Cube. Damn that was a good festival.
I saw somewhere Eddie was there and Chris was having a hard time singing both parts so Eddie got up and started singing to help and they like it.
Funny that you used the word “outshined,” the title of a solid Soundgarden track.
Love that song n the video
Must do outshined by soundgarden
@@timlee7038 all soundgarden matters... but yes!

I can't believe its almost thirty years since the first time I heard this song. It's timeless.
Chris wanted to sing both the High and Low register Vocals but he was struggling with the Low register, so Eddie stepped up and sang them. Chris was really happy with the way it came out and because of this Eddie gained the respect of his new band mates.

Still can’t listen to this song without tearing up. The world is less with Chris gone.
He is the backing vocalist and was asked to sing co-lead on this song
So he is in the band this just isn't his usual role
Goosebumps!! That was a hell of a song. 🔥
The bassist name is Jeff Ament. He's a really cool dude and underrated if you ask me. You should check out Times of Trouble and Reach Down off of this album. Chris Cornell goes off on those songs.
Temple is basically Pearl Jam with the Soundgarden drummer and Chris BEFORE they were Pear Jam.
THIS was the grunge era masterpiece! The entire album was phenomenal. "Reach Down" is another banger showcasing Mike McCready's amazing guitar solo. A grunge standard!
RIP to the big hommie Chris Cornell!!!
Your so we'll informed on Chris, I've been amazed by Chris. Music seemed like everything to him.
What a great tune! RIP Andrew and Chris. Thankyou Jay Rah for reacting to this classic.❤
🤯 Saw them perform this at Global Citizen Festival and it chills me to the very core everytime I hear it afterwards. Last time I saw Chris. 😞 RIP 🥺🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Temple of the Dog was a supergroup with members of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden' etc
Chris always gives me chillbumps when he hits them notes. R.I.P. Chris.

Chris did a live acoustic album around 2011 called Songbook... damn, tugs at the heartstrings
Temple of the Dog is Pearl Jam Memebers featuring Soundgarden Drummer Matt Cameron and the Legend Chris Cornell (RIP)
Who is now ironically Pearl Jam's drummer
Temple of the Dog is a tribute to Andrew Wood, lead singer of Mother Lovebone. He and Chris were roommates. I'd suggest "Stardog Champion" or "Crown of Thorns" as starting points.
you will never hear another voice like chris cornell

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!
Yes, it is my friend!
the whole album is great. four walled world, wooden jesus, all of them, really.
Pearl jam rose from the ashes of Andrew wood, lead singer for a band called mother love bone. Chris from soundgarden was best friends with Andrew. Eddie never met Andrew. But was a great addition to pearl jam and he wanted to be apart of there loss.
Ps this formed a great relationship between Chris and Eddie!

Yes!!!!!!
He’s on a hunger strike until things change in society, at least that’s how I interpret it. Great reaction.🔥
this band is a collaboration of sound garden and mother love bone(now pearl jam )
Now, react to Candlebox Far Behind, it too is a tribute to Andrew Wood, same as Hunger strike.
Nothing compares to you by Chris Cornell
Check out " Chris Cornell - Billie Jean " live.. the ACOUSTIC version
It's flipping phenomenal

Also Eddie dedicates Come Back to his brother and Chris. You will cry
Eddies voice anchors the song but Chris' sets it off
you can never compare eddies voice to chris's. we love eddie, but chris WAS A GOD. RIP CC

You should check out Wooden Jesus, you’d love the drums and percussion, and Times of Trouble.
You need to react to Mother Love Bone, they dedicated this entire album to Andy Wood the lead singer who passed away.
I believe Soundgarden and Pearl Jam got together and created Temple the dog for one album not for sure but I think that's what happened
Have you listened to or reviewed Black by Pearl Jam on Unplugged? Eddie’s vocals are Amazing
Chris Cornell!!!!! All things Chris!
Slaves and bulldozers by Soundgarden has good bass too but if your on Temple of the dog rn angel of fire demo is amazing
Slaves & Bulldozers is an EPIC Soundgarden song. Good place to start, yes.

I always thought this was a song about vegetarianism. I don’t know how I got that though.
Don’t know if you’ve done it, but I’d like to see a reaction to ‘Bulls on Parade’ live version from Rage Against the Machine. 🤙🏻
like your reactions.. but this song you have to remember the name of the song.. Hunger Strike.. they're hungry because they're on a strike
Please do Screaming Trees - I nearly lost you.
Slaves and bulldozers
