I used to drive passed that ship yard with my family when I was little Every year when we went to the beach on vacation from west Virginia. ...and that under water tunnel, used to scare the crap out of me lol mount trashmore skatepark, I wonder if that's still around lol
Working on Navy ships back in the day. They remind me of a floating jail or prison. You got rooms packed with bunks, a locker and everything is painted grey and made out of metal. The Navy recruits from really bad low income areas in the Country so if you’re enlisted then you’re probably working and living with former gang members that joined the Navy instead of going to prison.

There is no reform or rehabilitation in the prison system. The punishment is supposed to fit the crimes, but 3/4 of the prison population is non violent drug offenders. We should and have to take from Sweden. We all have to come together to do it. Prison just makes a person s better criminal.

Solitary is nothing short of torture. Humans are meant to socialize, to some degree at least. My Dad Retired out of the FCI in Milan Michigan, We had a drawer at home full of the weapons the inmates made.. As Bad as some of these guys were, He still saw them as Human Beings & capable of turning their Sh&t around. Isolation Surely Did Not Help a single one of them
I am happiest in my solitude, but there is no way to judge how anyone eslse would handle it. It can break anyone, some people are not able to cope with it even if they had no serious mental health problems before hand. Wishing your family the best! Just want to clarify that Red Onion is a single cell prison 23&1. The bad of the bad get sent there when no other prisons in Virginia can handle them. There 1Hr being out is spent alone in a dog cage. It's really sad!

Some people are introverts, some extraverts. Some of us are highly sociable and some are are quite self-seclude. Those dispositions probably determine the outcome of extended solitary confinement
Man, the older I get, the more surprised I am that I actually survived running the streets and being wild and reckless,and going to jail and all that nonsense. I wonder if you can get ptsd just from the things you've seen and been around just living that wild lifestyle? I find myself wanting to stay inside the comfort and safety of the house and worrying constantly about my kids and the things that they might witness or come across out in that concrete jungle of the world. Just knowing for a fact that anything can happen at any time to anybody, and how crazy and ruthless ppl can be for no real reason at all really. It worries me to death ,to an unhealthy point sometimes when I think about it too much, about my kids being in similar situations to some of the ones I found myself in and barely got through mostly unharmed sometimes. I dont want them to even be anywhere near any of that mess or associate with anybody that is mixed up with any of the madness. I'm rambling at this point lol my apologies. Lol

I'm ngl it's b.s for you to say that you would not be affected by 2yrs of solidarity. You have to think of everything that could have caused this. First thing the guy already is said to be mentally ill which could have gone unnoticed. Also the condition of the prison, and you already know how some C.O's can be. No one mentioned if he was actually given hygienic products nor the proper amount of food. My brother was 300lbs when he was locked up for a month and came out weighting 179lbs. That's only a month and no solidarity compared to 2yrs and straight solidary. Being in such small spaces and little recreation is terrible for the body and mind. So all in all you can't say how things would turn out for you unless you've been there, and consider the conditions that may have contributed. Much love tho✊
I may get a little crazy after 2 years and portions fed to the solitary confinement were definitely smaller than GP portions. I did 90 days in the box with no issues. If you got extra money there are always inmates on the block that will sell their sides of their trays for stamps or soaps. If you had an extra 20 30 bucks to throw around a month and did a disciplined workout every day you can probably actually put on some weight while in the hole.
