    Extremely clear and helpful video and explanation of the process. Significantly better and more useful than the ones produced by lawyers and advisors who posted here. Thank you.

    I just have done the CRBA to my daughter. My problem was to prove the 5 years living in the US , which i lived much more than that. I brought the evidence they were looking for (collage transcripts) and that was it. Short quick and simple. My advice, prepare the correct documents before going to the consulate.

    I just had the interview and the woman said she has to pass it along to her boss to approve it and that if any additional documents are needed they will email me and if I don't hear anything from them then that means it's approved and will receive crba and passport in 4-6 weeks.

    I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and would live in America for some periods so I would complete like 6 years but my interview I was not comfortable. First filter would be like didn´t you read instructions?
    Would not see pictures, documents like credit cards, drivers license, other IDs. Would only want to see school transcripts, medical records, employment records, W2 forms. So I did have a few informal summer jobs and how do I prove if you will not take my employee card, pictures and anything? I am so happy you were comfortable chatting and no need to take out more evidence even if you had that, to me they looked at all my papers and would say, thats not formal so they didnt give me the CRBAs and I got to send more documents so I can request a second appointment.

      Some embassies actually state you are not to use the scheduling tool but to email them at a specific email address the payment details and the reference number from the online application. In essence, check the embassy site of the country you're doing it through and look for those instructions.

    • @jenl8063
      @jenl8063  2 роки тому

      Hmmm. I'm not sure. My understanding was both parents need to be present at the embassy for the interview with the child. If one parent cannot be present, you need to have some letter from them explaining their absence or something like that. You could try to go, but be prepared to be turned away. Once there, just ask the interviewer what you are missing and what needs to be done. As far as i could see, if they like you they want to help you as much as possible to get the cbra... If they feel like something is shady or not legit they give you a harder time, or they will require more documents/proof from you.

      *"If you're flying into the United States all children and infants will require a passport, with the exception of Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), refugees, and asylees, who will continue to use their Migrant Registration Card (Form I-551), issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), or other valid evidence of permanent residence status or refugee or asylee status to apply for entry to the United States."*
      So unless your kid has a green card or is a refugee or seeking asylum, all of which require much more paperwork - they're not flying internationally. There are no "travel papers" for children that claim to be US citizens.
