Thank you very much! "Good luck on your test" He knows! No one is doing this for any other reason than a test! Thanks 👍🏼

    Sir,
Thanks for making this video, It helped a lot.
How about posting a video of some special cases like the aparrent wind is dead ahead or astern?

hi sir. how about if the vsl is on course of ooo deg with 10kts spd. and the apparent wind is in dead astern (180 deg.) with spd of 12 kts. what is the true wind course and spd? tnx.

      Hi Jefferson,
In this case the true wind would be 22 knots from compass direction 180. Hope that helps! Also I have a newer video series up regarding wind calculations on my channel if that is useful. It is in the maneuvering boards section. Chris

sir.may i ask about if relative wind is 30 degrees off port bow.what must i do?

Hello, we now have better videos at for wind calculations at: Fundamentals of the Maneuvering Board (Part 4 - Wind Calculations)
If the relative wind is 30 degrees off the port bow, you must add true course + relative wind direction - 360 (if the answer is more than 360). This will give you apparent wind direction. Then, you must continue the calculation as before. The new video is much more clear. Thank you for asking! Please contact me if you have more questions.

Huu Ngoc Pham Hello, a good place to look would be www.natice.noaa.gov under "products." This is mostly for the Arctic, Antarctic, and USA waters. Good luck and sail safe!

Chris Nolan thanks.but can you guide me details more about how to use www.natice.noaa.gov?or give a example

Huu Ngoc Pham I am not sure exactly what you are looking for, but on the USA website, or on Canada's website www.ec.gc.ca/glaces-ice/ you can click on the "product" that you desire and will be able to read the data. So for instance if you were in the Arctic, you could click the area near your ship, and then transfer the coordinates for the ice edge to your navigating chart. This is similar for the USA www.natice.noaa.gov/ims/. If you have a different question I will try to answer that as well. Thank you!
