Be careful. They also use imei numbers from the actual model of phones. For example you get a fake iPhone 14 that uses a imei from some other real iPhone 14.

Before buying a cheap or used phone, always ask for the IMEI number. There are sites that display if the number is blacklisted. If the seller refuses to give you the number, don't trust it!!! For SIM not recognized, I always check before repair. Some customers say it was working for a few days then stopped. I found 90% to be blacklisted and was bought from a market place or reseller. And a good chance it was stolen.
As Tim Cook once said , Apple does not do cheap.

Bought my note 9 used, no issue. Just know what you're doing guys. Buy from places that have a guarantee and know how to tell devices apart.
It a bit more difficult to scam you into buying a fake Samsung S or note device since the curved display and feel of the phone in general is difficult to replicate. If you see a fake Samsung S or note you'll know because Samsung screens look pretty vibrate same with Xiaomi. But the budget and midrangers have more fakes than I can count.
I got once a 2nd hand iPhone SE, mainly because it had also half a year warranty left
Saved over 150$ compared to an overpriced new one with 98% battery health left

The other worst things is some repair shop which also reseller for used iPhone are buying stolen iPhone for cheap, just to dismantle and kept/use those stolen phone as a spare part.
