  • Sunburn can be a massive worry for a lot of people heading out to Burning Man, especially for those of us that live in not so sunny locations that have 0 tolerance for the suns rays. Here are some tips to hopefully help you avoid ending up super pink on day one, because if you get burnt it can end up putting a downer on the whole week.
I hope you all manage to avoid the dreaded sun burn x

Your amazing cranking these video's out you really are quite skilled at it. I like the simplicity of you using your craft area and your lighting, pulls it together well. I am surprised you have not gone viral yet there every bit as informative as any others out there. I have to admit I've watched some of the lady topics, 2018 my son and I are definitely going to gift out pasties. Hope you can upload when your at BM.

Thanks so much that really means a lot to me :) I'm so glad that people are enjoying them. My flat is pretty small so I don't have many places to film and my little crafty spot seemed like the best choice haha. I have to film early in the mornings though when there's enough light coming through the window which sucks some mornings. Pasties are such a cute gift to give out! I've never thought to gift pasties before!

Pasties or mass produced nipple protectors. You could put LED's to light up at night. My son Mathew who's 24, seeing that many bare beast might be difficult. As and infant he was the best nurser he would be on one boob while stimulating to other ready switch, did it four 24 months. My other son John would suck one side dry and forget there two of them. Next year.

LED pasties sound amazing! I definitely want some of them for this year, I just googled them and there are some really cools ones out there. I wonder how they are powered though? It would suck to have to have cables or something coming off pasties!

Small batteries I imagine. How to keep them from falling off will be a challenge. Maybe double sided tape or some safe glue I will tax my inventive brain to come up with something this year. They would be a lovely beacon at night. www.amazon.com/Pink-Star-Light-LED-Pasties/dp/B00ILG9VYQ www.sasswear.com/products/body-glue

This reminds me of when I first got my job building playgrounds. I live in western washington and my first build was in Salinas, Callifornia. I got a massive sunburn the first day and we wound up being there for a little over a month. I was yelling at my sunburn the second day like... "F U Sunburn! I got WORK to do!" After that, the sun never really bothered me and I never used sun cream or anything of any kind, not even sunglasses. I think I must be insane in that way... Embrace your inner tree.

A bottle of aloe vera gel in your cooler makes for amazing relief if you do get burned by the sun.

I always have some in my fridge for emergencies even though I hardly ever get burnt here! It's so refreshing on burns

If you do get burnt use vinegar to turn off the burning sensation. Cool vinegar wiped on softly and lovingly can make it feel better. Then ice. Once your skin continues to stay wet put on aloe vera grl while your skin is wet. And if you do get burnt drink even more water with electrolyte supplements. Cut Gatorade, Powersde or such 1:3 with water, or Pedialyte straight.
I weld as a hobby and every welder I know has a) been burnt and b) has an aloe plant or two.

My sister swears that a light dusting of talcum powder/baby powder on top of sun screen really helps. I've never tried as I take after our father, and turn brown in the sun in almost no time. She however is like our mother, and burns really fast.

Such a cool tip, I'm going to try it out I burn really easily as well so always end up trying to stay covered up or hiding out in the shade. Plus I love the smell of talc so it'd be awesome if it worked

I saw a story that because of the FDA Americans can't get the best sun block as you can in Europe.

I didn't know that! Thanks for telling me I was planning to wait til I landed to grab suncream because I figured it'd be cheaper in America but I might have to grab it before I head out instead.

There is Neutrogena Sheer Spray with SPF 100. Granted, it being a spray, you must apply it while in a protected area - but I really love it. I take it on my warm vacations. I'm from Canada (and very fair!) but I believe you can get it in the States. I've used the 60 or 75 but never 100.
Recently I purchased some sunscreen from Dermalogica. They appear to have eight different choices (some specific for face but not all) and I can't vouch as I haven't used it before but I have used their skincare other products and they have all worked well.
When I wake up, I often lotion up before dressing; so, after my lotion, I apply a round of sunscreen (and during camping, I have lotion-based bug repellent, too!). It's worked its way in by the time I'm done my coffee and breakfast. Then I just need to reapply later on the spots feeling too warm.
I also have a white, iridescent bolero from Coquetry that I used this weekend when I felt a burn coming on. Wow it made such a difference. And if you're already burnt, it prevents further damage and you can get misted to really feel nice and refreshed! :):):)

Actually that's not true. For a while that "might" have been the case because the FDA banned PABA firstt (but oddly, it waz based on research from Sweden and the UK's NHS). But now noone uses it.
