TRP Evo 12 Unboxing: Is this Golden Groupset a SRAM and Shimano beater?

- TRP now have a complete top end, carbon cranked groupset to compete with flagship wired gear from SRAM and Shimano. But how does it measure up in terms of features, weight and cost? Let's unbox it and check the details before I fit it to a bike and go test it.

Just goes to show that XT performance and value cannot be beaten. By a mile.
XT cranksets are being snapped up at an incredible rate 😁
Look forward to see it on the bike
I'll wait to hear how it performs before judging
I saw this groupset at a TRP booth recently. It's pretty but expensive. I don't know if I'd drop this kind of money on a gen 1 group instead of tried and true Shimano or SRAM, but it's cool to see another player in any case.
I'll stick with XT thanks...Ha!!
Great to see another manufacturer making an alternative groupset, but like 35 years ago, shimano xt is still as polished as my nans dining table....
Mountain bikers must all be dentists and doctors now 😂
XT all the way!
TRP problem number 1 - they always use soft screws and bolts that melt like cheese at the sight of aches or torx wrench.
Ask anyone who maintains TT bikes…. Aaaarrrgh!
It's a disease, I started with a simple tr12 derailleur and shifter two years ago now my 3 mountain bikes are equipped with trp groupset, I skipped the cranks on two tho 💸😁
Btw derailleur is 1:1 doesn't work with Shimano shifters but matches SRAM sx to xo
Thanks, I’d heard it was a different pull ratio but I’ll try a SRAM hybrid set up at some point to see if it works
That’s a lot of money and you’ve got to buy brakes and discs on top of that! I can’t see them selling many of these even if it’s a stunning groupset.
Of course! What can be more natural than Microspline hubs and Matchmaker!
That’s sale xtr pricing! :0
Conventional fit on the bike, not UDH hangar? 😂
I think an X01 mechanical groupset would a good comparison.
Yep, prices vary but you can find some very discounted XO1 sets and it’s around 130g lighter
@@GuyKesTV I think the mechanical X01 is such an underrated groupset especially when you factor in the price you can find it for, including the carbon cranks. Shifts like butter and is as light as anyone not racing XCO needs.
@@ThunderStruckMTBit’s biggest issue is xtr is better and can be had cheaper lol.
@@sturdyvw I disagree about XTR being better, but to each their own for sure!
I like that there’s more than just 2 players, but no XD compatible cassette snd no UDH compatible derailleur? Good luck getting SRAM converts… And price not great. Yeah, top of the line bleah bleah, I have zero incentive to switch from SRAM.
Every rear mech apart from New Sram transmission is UDH compatible 😅
cant even see where to buy
I still cant understand why people would say no to Shimano, SRAM, Microshift, and a host of new chinese manufacturers like wheeltop, ltwoo and others to go for TRP. Brakes? Sure. Groupsets? Ummm.
Microshift you could just about get away with ,just .but mentioning wheeltop and itwoo in the same sentence as the 2 big s companies is quite frankly laughable .
I’d try it. Why not?
So overpriced
Don't buy it then ....overpriced to you maybe but there's plenty of us out there with high paid jobs with lots of disposable income .
I don't have lots of disposable income but I really enjoy the strong adjustable clutch, crisp shifts & reliability, they also replaced a carbon cage under warranty no fuss, great doing business with TRP they deserve that hard earned money 😊
You don’t have to buy it.
@@knott4me561..........who have to come on UA-cam to validate themselves.
@@knott4me561I bet you have a tiny pecker though.
Total bloatware! You cant buy it anywhere
Boring to tears
Sorry, it's hard to make a thorough talk through that exciting. Hopefully the review footage will raise your pulse a little more
