- Quick tutorial on recalibrating an automatic electric open/ close tailgate on a 2019 Nissan Rogue! Try this if your Rogue tailgate is not opening all the way or if it fully opens and then drops back down 10-12" !

OMG!! This just worked! I have a 2018 that would open when I pushed the button. But, it always immediately closed back down. I would have to stop it with my hand to stay open. Then the button did not work to close it either. I just done this trick. It took 2 times. I heard something beep twice at the dash inside the car each time. NOW IT WORKS FINE!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for making this video! I am tickled. (: I have dealt with this issue for several months now and I'm so relieved it is fixed! I actually had this problem start after my car was detailed. Just a heads up to anyone out there experiencing this as well. But, this trick has corrected it!! THANK YOU AGAIN!!

I have the same problem with my 2021! It goes up and then closes right away and it's hurt me twice LOL... hit me on the head and whacked my hand hard, I hope this works for me too!
I went to the car wash got a detail and mine hasn’t worked since 10 months. I tried this but only once and not 10 seconds, I let go after the second beep, going try now!
This happened to my 2018 after a detail. I watched the kid force it to half way shut before I yelled and now it opens completely then stops half way down. Trying this method and praying !

Tried this, it beeped twice just like this, held for another 10 seconds.
Once I tried pressing the button... zilch.
No beeps, doesn't move an inch.
Manually shut and try to open it, problem is unchanged...

I have a rogue 2021, and I have a issue with tailgate, it close by itself, when I push back button open all and then automatically close, I will try to recalibrate door. GREAT VIDEO.

Worked for my 2021 Rogue! It was apparently "fixed" by the dealership then it started doing the up and down thing again, hit me hard in the head.... but this fixed it for now, yay!

My 2019 Rogue hatch goes up and immediately goes back down. I will try this and maybe will also FIX the auto-close problem. Does it off & on but maybe this Reset will fix it all. Thanks for your video as even what you did I did not know about....GREAT!!!

2018 Rogue SL, trunk opens and fall back couple of inches. Push trunk all the way up and press button until two beeps and hold for 10 seconds. Works on the third try one time. After I opened trunk it falls back several inches again. Try for at least 8 to ten times again but no success. Maybe should try again next time.
It's possible you have a lift support that is starting to fail. If this does not work, it may be time to have it properly diagnosed at a repair shop! Best of luck to you!

For me it was getting opened and drops back few inches .. and then does not close --
So the issue of not closing is resolved after recalibrating.
but second issue of "fully opens and drops back few inches is still an issue"
will try couple of more recalibration and update.

That worked great. Here is the bigger issue: my rear windshield broke and glass fell into the tailgate. Is it possible to remove all of the covering to clean it out. I've cleaned 98% of the glass with blowers and vacuums, but the last 2% is rattling around in there.
Yes, if you remove the interior panel, there are access holes to get a vacuum in and clean the remaining glass out!

My liftgate is driving me mad. 2017 model Some instances the liftgate opens to full height, more often than not it opens to full height but then automatically lowers back 10-12 inches. Have tried the door jamb button hold bit (after manually returning it to full height), but it doesn't seem to rectify the inconsistent final opening position.

I have Murano, but I’m getting a continuous beep noise coming from the lift gate. I thought if I recalibrated it, maybe the beep would go away, no luck. I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes, still no luck. Any other suggestions before I take it to the dealership??

My 2018 Rogue opens to full height but doesn’t close by the inside switch, rear switch or key fob, I have to push it down.

so mine does the same thing but when i push it back up to calibrate it it falls back down the 8-10 inches or so and doesn't stay up fully. do i need to replace anything or should i just keep trying to calibrate it?
So when you say "fall down" if it does a "hard drop" like gravity is taking over, you may need the lift supports replaced. If you are pushing it all the way up and it is "mechanically" or in other words, electronically dropping, it is a calibration issue.

Hello, I had a 2017, 2019 Rogue that procedure is to adjust the height of the lift gate so it could be open once inside the garage. So liftgate will not make contact with the roll up garage door. But there is something wrong with that door on that white rogue, I did not hear or heard the beeping sounds or chimes. When you open that liftgate or closed it from button on under plate or by remote or foot feature. That said the problem with that liftgate is an electronic problem. If the vehicle was parked & another vehicle hit it hard or rear ended on rear bumper sensors or wiring must be checked. Cause the chimes sounds must sound cause is a safety issue on Nissan liftgates.

I have a 2016. I tried this with all three opening modes. It still will open all the way then fall back down to where I hit my head! 🤬 , ideas?
Sounds like you may have a lift support issue. If one (or both) lift supports are weak, this can happen.
I have a Nissan Rogue, the rear hatch does not open properly. I did this several times and nothing happened. Can you please suggest something, what can I do? Thanks

It's hard to say without having more information and seeing the car but, depending on what the exact issue is, if this procedure did not work, It may be a problem with the lift supports. This should be diagnosed by technician. Best of luck to you!

I’ve from the UK and I’ve been having a similar issue, the boot/trunk will open by itself (automatically) to it’s max height but then starts beeping and comes down a bit and does not react to the key or button on the tailgate when trying to be closed. I’ve tried doing this so many times to no success. I’ve read a few forums online and it seems to be a common issue, all the solutions I’ve found is to do this but it doesn’t work. Please help.
It is possible you have a lift support going bad or something else causing your troubles! Might be time to bring your Rogue into a shop!
@@SmittysShop In the bodyshop rn after an accident, driver side door was opened and some idiot came a swiped the thing 🤦🏾♂️whole door and wing panel have to be replaced. I’m sure it has to be a calibration issue tho because I remember going on holiday and stuffing a lot of suitcases into the boot and closing the boot by hand. It was only when I came back from holiday the issue started occurring.
I got a 2017 and it works but for some reason it doesn't open all the way , i set up in any high and works but when I set it up all the way it doesn't do it to that high

My 2011 Juke doesn't have the button and I've searched for a way to manually reset but can't find a way. Do you know how I can reset? I'm only 5'1" and it's very difficult to reach.

It's ok! Was worth a shot. The trunk opens from the remote.. the inside and by hand but it will not close. Not by the remote.. inside or trunk button. So basically will open for but won't close unless I now manually do it.

First, turn that button "Off". Next, from the outside, using the tailgate handle manually open fully, and then close the tailgate. Manually open the tailgate again (fully open height) NOW, press and hold the button inside the tailgate till it beeps. Go back inside vehicle, turn hatch on/off back "on" and see if it will close with either the remotes or the button! Good luck!
Mine rogue doesn't have the reset button on the hatch. It's 2015 sv. What do you do if you don't have the button?

the button to close it doesnt seem to do anything and when i open the trunk it immediately tries to shut again and have to push it up
Sounds like your lift supports may need replacing!

It is possible it is meeting some resistance in those lift supports, yes

If you have tried the reset procedure with no success, you are possibly looking at a lift support that is failing.

Follow the instructions here in the video. Mine had the same issue as yours and this corrected it.

I've done it about 8 times on my Rogue and it still drops about six inches. Anyone have an idea of why and how to fix it?
You may have a lift support failing. The only option at that point would be replacement.
My issue is the next... backdoor fully opens, but wont close, no matter which button is depressed, so could this help to solve that issue? or there is another method to reset that malfunction? Issue started after replacing battery.
