JODHPUR, RAJASTHAN, INDIA'S BLUE CITY 🇮🇳

  • Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan and famously known in India as The Blue City, surrounds the mighty Mehrangargh Fort. I soak up the stunning views from the Fort's surface, before exploring the electric streets of Sardar Market, which circle Jodhpur's iconic clock tower. I also visit Toorji Ka Jhalra, a unique stepwell, and Jaswant Thada, a Cenotaph housing beautiful gardens and more spectacular views.

    Great vlog! You captured it so well :)
    Oh, and there are actually more reasons explaining why the town is blue and none of them is certain ;) One is that at first only the houses of the Brahmins were painted blue (edit: okay, you mentioned this as well!) as it's the color of the highest class/sacred color associated with Lord Shiva, the other says that the color was easy accessible and cheap (indigo plantations and/or mix of limestone and copper sulphate - both of them result in blue color) and cooling down as the blue reflects the heat best which you mentioned is also one of explanations given :)

    I've just watched all of your India videos - amazing, amazing, amazing! Thank you for such beautiful and informative videos. I'm going to Rajasthan in February 2018 and can't wait having seen them. With all your info, tips and insight I'm sooooooo looking forward to seeing some amazing places. We're doing Delhi, Jaipur, Ranthambore + tiger safari and Agra. Just wanted to say your editing skills are so impressive - you mentioned the editing tool you use - however my skills are are nonexistent! If you have a video or a step by step guide (simple, idiots guide bearing in mind it will be my first attempt) please do let me know. I have a Panasonic HC-V180 camcorder which I shall be taking to Rajasthan.
    Sorry you have been unwell, hope you're feeling much better now. Awaiting your next India video.

      Hey Sara, thanks for the comment, I'm happy to hear the videos have helped you. I don't have an editing guide unfortunately, maybe I'll do one someday. Good luck with your trip!

    Hey Jason. Nice Work ! It must take quite some time to shoot all the footage, decide what to include, edit it, add the commentary and music etc. It all looks so professional and informative - I'm impressed. And India looks amazing. You must be having a fab time out there. Will have to meet up when you return. Nigel Tebb

      Nigel, it's great to hear from you, I'm glad you're liking the videos! Actually I'm already back in the UK for a more few weeks, the videos are being uploaded on a delay, due to the time it takes to edit. Hope you're well, next time I'm down in London I'll let you know!

    jason, the buildings are blue in jodhpur because Lord Krishna is blue....everyone's equal in the eyes of Lord Krishna (as mentioned by Him in Hole Bhagvad Gita)....please do not tie everything to caste.....namaste!

    • @anonzed2493
      @anonzed2493 6 років тому +1

      MrFalcon2001, in Hindu thought, blue color represents infinity, and
      God = Infinity. (That's why man can never fully know or understand God because infinity cannot be defined). Lord Krishna is considered to be an incarnation or avatara of God. Hence, his body is shown as blue in color (representing infinity), and you'll typically see Lord Krishna's clothes in yellow color (depicting earth) ie his avatara form which is God in the form of Lord Krishna on earth....
