Everytime I see something regarding the audiobook argument my only response is "you're telling me blind people can't read?"
Yes! In that instance, audiobooks would even be NECESSARY! Great point! 😍
I loved this video! I’m a huge audiobook girlie and of course I think they count lol. I think you said it best, we could have a discussion about a book and never know if someone used their eyeballs or their earballs lol
"eyeballs & earballs" YES 😂😂
😂😂😂
I 100% think audiobooks count as books being read. I listen to a ton of audiobooks and love them! I drive quite a ways for work and listen. I listen while I’m doing yard work, cleaning the house, folding laundry, cooking etc. helps me read books while also getting stuff done that has to get done
Absolutely! I keep meaning to give an audiobook a try during my daily chores & I always forget! 😂
I borrow mine from the library and that way, if I don’t like the narrator, I can return it.
So smart!
This is so fun, Lyndsay!
Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories.
Thank you so much! You as well! 💙
Audiobooks definitely count for me as a mom/wife 😅 and two of my 5 star reads this year was books I listened too.
Absolutely agree! I haven't gotten into audiobooks yet but I want to! I just think it would make daily chores that much more productive 🥰
@@sheisbookedandbusy it does I do also struggle sometimes but then it is purely bc I don't connect with the book when I'm listening it but I do when I read it..other times it's reversed where I connect more with the audiobooks. (For example the ruinous love trilogy books are absolute perfection on audio)
Going to look those up now! Maybe those will be the ones I try first! I can see how the voice actors would make or break the experience.
My first spares edge book I got was for fourth wing. Didn't know what the story was about I just loved the dragons sprayed or stenciled on and had to have it. It also helped that I ended up loving the book
That's such a beautiful edition! I loved Fourth Wing so much, I'm afraid to read Iron Flame 😞
Special editions have me by a chokehold lol 😂
🗣I love this.
I’m so glad!!! Loved filming it!!! 🥰
I am a school librarian. I do dog ear books I own. I do not bend spines. I write in my books but not all of them. I would NEVER do this to a library or borrowed book. That is wrong!! lol.
I love audio and hardback books. I buy paperbacks for cost but have found if you wait the hardback is usually cheaper.
This was great! And I just subscribed :)
Omg what a great job!! I love this!! This video actually reminded me that I haven't annotated a book in years & I think it may be time to get back into it! Now to find the book that I want to annotate 🤔
I love bookish hot takes. I think it helps highlight how different everyone's reading taste really is and i love that. what works for one won't always work for another and just because someone we know, and love doesn't like a book doesn't mean that we won't like it.
lots of love and God bless x
Yes! That's why I like them too! I love hearing different opinions on books and bookish topics 😆
Another great video 🙂
Love these types of videos...very controversial opinion from me; I DNF'd the ACOTAR series after ACOMAF. It was the series that made me realise I really don't like any smut in my books 😅
Half of my books are audio, I read/listen as I drive home from work and due household chores or drawing/doing puzzles. If you're experiencing the world and story of the novel it counts no matter if its by your ears or your eyeballs lol
I'm so glad you enjoyed it 💌 I could see how the smut would turn some readers away! Personally, I don't mind smut so that was part of the win for me 😂
I haven't tried audiobooks yet but being able to listen to books in the car is what has intrigued me most! I spend SO much time driving that I could see how that would really increase my productivity!
🗣🗣🗣🗣 I'm so bad at commenting on videos haha
I do the same thing! I watch & then roll right into the next video & realize later that I forgot to like & comment! So then I have to go back & do allllll the things 😂 Thank you so much for being here! Hearing that my videos comfort you & bring you joy is the BEST compliment I could ever receive! 😍
@@sheisbookedandbusy haha yess totally 🖤 I have pretty severe anxiety, and panic disorder, and your videos ease that every time. Your energy is just the best! I talk about you all the time 😂 my husband knows you on a first name basis at this point 😂😂
*blushes like crazy* I'm obsessed with you!!!! Over here giving me a big head 😂😂 Thank you so much!!!!
I have 5 kids that I homeschool including a son with multiple special needs that needs multiple therapy sessions a week, how I fit in reading is I literally have books stashed everywhere in my house and car 😂 I sometimes can only read maybe 10 minutes at a time but I’m usually with in arms length of a book to grab
Yes! I completely agree with this - part of my prioritizing reading is making sure I ALWAYS have a book with me! You never know when the opportunity to read will pop up so I stay prepared!
Ps Homeschooling is such an admirable full time job that I aspire to try one day (although I'm slowly running out of time! 😂). You are an inspiration on multiple levels, girl! 💕
I'm sad I missed the poll! I like the Lisa Jewell book but I love thrillers .
I’m thinking I’ll do more soon for another challenge I’m planning so stay tuned 😉
From what I have seen - the audiobook argument comes from many using them to pad their book count. Like saying they read 300 books a year but 280 of them were audiobooks listened to at 3-3.5x the speed.
Hmm, I could see that, but here's my thing: it's still incredibly impressive that those people prioritized 280 books to listen to! 💕
I definitely think Audiobooks count as reading because like you said you’re getting the story and that’s the point of books after all….however I do think it’s a slightly different experience because the narrators tone and inflections can deeply impact your perception of the story and characters. Poorly done narration can make you dislike books that you may have liked you read them. I love audiobooks but tend to listen to Rom Coms or contemporary romance and prefer to read my romantacy. I already read Gild but still joined the book club to see comments and look forward to next month’s pick. Great video and gorgeous special edition collection!
Excellent point! I could totally see how the voice actors could make or break the experience! That actually also comes into play with book-movie adaptations for me - when I read the book, I envision in my head what I think the character look or sound like, so if the movie deviates from that, it throws me off at first 😂 I'm LOVING Gild so much so far! To the point where it's one of those books that I can't believe I waited this long to read! Did you continue with the series?! Because I can already tell I definitely am!
I loved Archer's voice. I read it in 3 days and physically reading a book usually takes me a whole lot longer to read
My take on this book is that people who love it, LOVE it, & people who hate it, HATE it...if you get what I'm saying 😂 Very strong opinions on both sides!
I'll put a book a pause if I'm having a hard time getting through it. I'll come back to it later and if I still can't get into it then I will DNF it.
That's smart! Because sometimes I hesitate to DNF when it may not be the book - it may just be me not being in the mood at that moment, you know? 🌸
Audiobooks 100% count! I'm physically disabled and mainly read via audiobook and it's not because I don't want to physically hold and read a book it's because sometimes the book itself is too heavy for me (chronic pain problems) also if audiobooks didn’t exist how would a blind person read? You can't possibly braille every single book. same thing with people with dyslexia it is easier to listen to a story then struggle to read.
Exactly! It truly doesn't matter HOW a person obtains their information - it only matters that they are enjoying themselves reading! Or as I say often "who cares if you're reading with your eye holes or your ear holes, as long as you're reading!" 🤣
I dog ear pages, but I believe books are meant to be touched and read, not sit on a shelf like decor. However, I do have a few pretty books that I display.
I love your view on books! They definitely are meant to be enjoyed & loved! 🥰
Another fun video! I wrote the None of This is True opinion and I was enjoying the book until the end. No spoilers 😊 It's hard to be specific without spoiling it, but there's a take the author had for one of the characters in the end that I completely didn't agree with. Also, I was just left with so many questions (small and large) that the ending didn't pack a punch in a satisfying way. This book ultimately seemed to make a lot of promises that fell flat for me 🤷♀️. Love these hot takes! 🫶🗣️
Ohhh I totally understand that though - when you just don't agree with the direction an author chooses to take the plot or character. Frustrating! Sounds like there was a lot of holes in the story! 🌸
@@sheisbookedandbusy Yeah I thought so! I'm the same as you with mystery/thriller. It's rare for them to work as well for me as romance, fantasy, romantasy. It's hard to beat those! 😄
Romantasy is everythingggggggg 💙
@@sheisbookedandbusy Yesss, so good! 😍
I have to laugh about your answer for the question how do you find time to read. I got into bed to read but I noticed you posted a video and I was like nope watching her video first because I love her videos
Hahahaha!! Omg I'm a reason to not take my own advice!! 😂😂
I wrote the Archers voice one and dog earred! I didn’t get to the spice, I DNF’d it😭 the characters were childish and the writing style was like it was written on Wattpad!
Yesss you did! Hi love! Ooooo now I have to read it & see what I think! 🤔
@@sheisbookedandbusy yes please let me know what you think😭 I didn’t know about the spice! I jumped to watch this video!
🗣️🗣️🗣️
💐💌📖
Ok.. so I don't like acotar series or throne of glass.... do they get better???
They absolutely get better!! 🥰
I’m totally team hardcover and also team dnf-ing.
Great minds think alike!! 💕
5:23 Boy you're LUCKY!!! I have Aphantasia, no minds eye. I can't picture ANYTHING in my head, it's just black.
I've never heard of that! I envision literal movie scenes in my head - but sometimes it comes with a bad side: I envision a character looking or sounding a certain way & then when I watch the movie/show version, the characters don't look or sound right to me 😂
🗣️
💙🌸📖
Entertaining video. I think anyway you absorb information or read audiobooks count. I think the special editions with an extra chapter at the end sold at certain stores is ridiculous.
Yes! Whether you read with your eyes or listen with your ears, the story is the same! Ohhhh yes, I could see that! Or the exclusive editions where all they change is the color on one element of the cover 🙄
My eyes are bad and there are days I can’t see hardly at all most my books are on audio.
Excellent point!! Whether you read the book with your eyes or listen with your ears, it's the same story! 💕
Emily Henry Beach Read. To slow
I personally LOVED Beach Read but I could definitely see how people could think it was slow! 🏖️
