How to remove white wall lettering from tires (hoosier slicks)

I took a quick vid of removing the white lettering from my hoosier slicks with a quick simple method.
Products I used were:
Citrustrip (home depot)
Painy brush
Nylon brush
Brass brush
Large bristle nylon brush
All purpose cleaner
Micefiber towels

I just tried this on my new MT front runners. The citrustrip works great! I did not let it sit for 5 minutes. I dipped the brass brush, and went to scrubbing. Very minimal effort and got it all off! Thank you

Great video! I’ve also been told brake fluid works well…especially since it’s not a petroleum that’ll HURT the tire but will in fact PROTECT the rubber, just as it does brake hoses👌🏼

I prefer tires mounted black, but just bought a used Blazer with Goodyears. This is what I had in mind to do. Thanks for the video. Big help to see it done first.

Some CRC Brake Clean on a rag and wipe off the white. Takes 5 minutes, while on Weld Delta rims.

I don't put it on a rag though. I usually unload some out of the can then scrub a touch of necessary, the use the brake clean to hose the rest off. It literally takes like a minute

I'd say to just be careful around the areas with the dip. If by chance you get the stripper on the wheels just wipe it off as soon as possible.

Cuzntime it doesn't look like it did since I wiped off the paint remover quickly afterwards. I Still have them and they still look great

Do NOT do this trick with the tire mounted on the wheel. Especially if you have black painted wheels like I do. Ask me how I know.....

I'm not sure. I guess it depends on if it's paint or dye in the rubber. The tires I used in the video is just paint.

WD40, Brake Clean with some towels takes 5 min. Do it all the time, but was trying to find a way to remove the raised rubber part and not look horrible...

Randy Smith the lettering was painted on by factory. I'm not sure how well it would work on other branded white wall tires but it's worth a try I suppose

sadly it did not remove the white from the lettering, but it did cleaned the lettering as snow white as the day it was bought, i don't like that shiny tire look,i used the armor all matte finish and it looks good...lettering clean and white tire jet flat black...removing oil off tires?? ..i use a mixter of 1/2 dawn and water cleans all the oil off... adios amigo

I'd avoid getting the stuff on the wheels because it may etch them. Better safe than sorry kind of thing. Mask them off if you can
