- Do you have a Morrell Yellow Jacket Archery Target that is in horrible shape?
If so, make sure to check out this video where I do an archery target restoration on my Morrell Yellow Jacket target bag. This target bag is about 6 years old and has taken a beating in the back yard archery range. The target has a massive hole in the back and I was to the point where I needed to replace the target all together but last minute, I found that Morrell Targets makes replacement archery target bags.
So for $25 bucks, I decided to pick one up and give it a shot and I am glad I did. I have now extended the life of my archery target for probably another year or two. Super happy with the outcome.

Nice man! Don’t forget to stomp on it to move the material in the void you shot out. Over time shooting in one spot shifts material creating a void as to why shot-throughs occur. So stomp and push the material back in the void. Best to do this before putting on the cover but no worries you can still do it after! 😉
I have actually been doing that for some time and did it the night before the new cover came but I will for sure do it again.
The new bag has been holding up great!

Nice video. Definitely a good report as to how durable these targets are. If you've been shooting that target for 6 years, I think you got your moneys worth out of it. I would think it would last longer if you varied your POA in a bit of a larger circle. Nice fix for $25.00. I think it says a lot about Morrell that they offer a repair for a worn out target.

I have definitely got my money out of this bag and I agree about changing the point of impact would make it last even longer.
After shooting the new bag all summer, it’s pretty beat up but I didn’t expect it to last long. It was just a quick fix to get me through the summer. But I shoot everyday in the off season so for someone who doesn’t shoot as much, I would expect you would get a few years out of it easy.

Hmmm, you didnt take anything out of repack it.. not sure what that will do. You gotta repack it.
I learned that the hard way. On the last one I just re-did, I took material from an older target I was throwing away and used it to repack the one I was keeping.
That has held up well.
Still going to have the same problem in the center.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors Been down this road acouple times. Starts off good but deteriorates rather quickly if you don't move the material around on the inside which is a real pain. Not knocking the bags which are great, I've had 3 range over the year's and changed multiple covers.
Sorry man, I thought you commented on the bag repair I just posted. You are 100% correct. This bag repair lasted about 5-6 months. However, the last one I just did, is holding up really nice.

You're supposed take the old cover and black bag off the core but ain't nobody got time for that!

Was there still a soft spot in the center of that bag? I feel like that really didn't fix the weak spot.
There was but if you step on all sides of the bag, it’s shift’s the material around and takes care of the soft spot. Unfortunately, you have to do this pretty frequently but I knew it was just a quick fix to buy another year out of the target.

No problem. I will need to replace it after one year of use but that’s dependent on how much you shoot.
I shoot a few times a week so it got beat up pretty fast.
