    Fabulous! Love these machines - so much more efficient. My mom always said the last decent macine on the market was a 1959 front loading Bendix. We loved it, even when it came unbolted and hopped all over the garage! Thanks for this video!

      Wow! Bendix..I had not heard that name in a quite awhile!

    This is the coolest video I've seen in a long time! I love seeing those old machines (some of which I remember when I was growing up). Just wish the cameraman had zoomed out a little to show the entire machine & the control panels.

    So cool, that turquoise Frigidaire at the end! With the "granite" porcelain tub. We had a slightly newer model when I was a kid. It had the full width fluorescent light on the control panel. I used to hold the button down and watch it wash and spin. SO COOL!

    Never seen so many men so interested in laundry. Love the machines.

    Ah, your videos bring back great memories of getting drunk and doing all the laundry I could find with my Danby twin tub washer. I already had another portable washer (apartment without w/d hookups), but I bought the twin tub just because it was the first one I had seen available in the USA since the 80s. This was around 5 years, ago. I can't imagine spending a whole day in that basement! There wouldn't be enough vodka!

    I love it! I know 2 guys in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania that have a collection of antique washers and dryers. And 1 of the 2 guys wishes the other did not have so many machines!

    My favorite is the Philco Automagic with the high speed "hula" agitator.

    @JSneaker It was in the early Westinghouse front-loaders that you had to use those detergents back then, as they were the precursors of modern HE detergents.

    Wow, I wish I got my own washing machine when I was 3! But I did have my own Kirby vacuum cleaner at that age, and it was taller than me at the time.

    That Apex is COOOL. Basically similar to a front loader mechanism but top loading? You should have heard the font geek in me freak out at the Speed Queen font at 2:10. I love industrial design, and this is Industrial design porn. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!

      It's something that collectors on the Website automaticwasher.org do. It's a sort of social event for people to show off their appliance collections.

    Hello, would you be willing to sell that pair? the aqua/turqoise models? I can't see the make.
    I had a pair of pink maytag 1961 on my eaby watch list. They are somewhere in Florida, ebay deleted my list without asking. If you or anyone knows how to find them I would appreciate your help. thanks, Karl

      Do you have a lot of washing machines? Can you hook them up so they can be used? Have a party and invite people you know would be interested and tell them to bring laundry.

    What brand Is that huge washer / dryer combination front loader in the video? Is it whirlpool or speed queen?

      Maytag or Frigidaire?

    • @revvinkev
      @revvinkev  7 років тому +1

      That is a 1958 Whirlpool Combo! The Speed Queen combo is in a 27" cabinet, versus a 33" cabinet for the WP. You can see a Speed Queen combo at 1:45 in the video link below. (It happens to be sitting next to another '58 WP combo.)
