    You are a wonderful teacher! I have tried for years to learn this braid! 3 minutes and I have done one. It’s not the prettiest. It is, however, further than I have gotten before. Thank you! ❤️

      I love it as handles! Make sure you do the final step and get it as long as it’ll go before you attach to the bag- if not they will get longer with time and that might not be what you want. Good luck! You also might need to tie each individual strand in a little bundle so it doesn’t get all tangled up as you go

    Is there a rule of thumb for the length of the initial strips to get a specific length finished braid?

    • @badavis9
      @badavis9  2 роки тому

      That is a great question and I dont know the answer to it! Thicker strips will make for a shorter finished product, while thin strips keep it long, but skinny. I always just start with plenty of length to make sure I have enough.

    What is the initial length of the leather strips ? Thanks

    • @badavis9
      @badavis9  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi! I use a length that is about three times longer than I want the final piece to be. If your strips are thin, you don’t need them to be that long. But since the width of your four strips changes, how much you need a hard question to answer, I tend to errr on too long rather than too short. Hope this helps! My keychain strips are 24”-30”

    Can this also be used to make a necklace? And would I end it the same way?

    • @badavis9
      @badavis9  7 місяців тому

      Hi! You’d have to play around with how to finish it nicely for a necklace. When people make bolo ties (essentially a leather braided necklace) they are often finished with silver tips specifically designed for them. If it’s a more “rustic” necklace you could definitely finish it this way.

    Great explanation ! A few questions, What kind of leather is that,? Looks very soft and mailable.! Could you use leather cording with this technique

    • @badavis9
      @badavis9  2 роки тому +1

      It’s a lightweight top grain cow leather. You can use anything as long as it’s flat, not square (I know some leather lacing and cording comes square)
