Just discovered your channel, this is my first video. I’m a former lifelong foodie, all things butter, fat, beef, etc.. Own all the Modernist Cuisine books and gadgets. Its my hobby. Unsurprisingly I learned at age 58 that I have heart disease…(duh). I went through the stages of finding a new diet that we all do, and of course landed on the only one that really works, whole food plant based! What a difference. I aspire to make dished like you are making. Love your style, your spirit and your humility. Thanks so much for the masterclass on how to live and enjoy life.
Happy you find some benefit from these, thanks for watching and thanks for being here.
Yes well try telling an Italian mother that your vegan/ vegetarian !!!!
@@Dcs.234Just cook her an incredible vegan lasagne without telling her it’s vegan.
Hate your tattoos!
I‘m absolutely thrilled how you gave lasagna a complete new design 🎉 I’m gluten-free for almost 20 yrs, dairy free for 13yrs all due to health issues. Becoming vegan was not hard for me but for family and friends..This sauce Mornay based on cauliflower is so awesome 👏 I will try that for dinner tonight 🎉Thank you so much for these tutorials and sharing your passion for healthy vegan foods ‼️Have a great day🤗
I absolutely love lasagna! I absolutely love food. 😂 Vegan food is just delicious food. We don't need to eat non-human animal flesh to be satiated. I ate animals and their secretions for about 30 years of my life(I didn't eat steak as a baby, lol) Been vegan for 5 years now, and I wish I did it sooner. 🌱💪🏽✌🏾✌🏾
Could'nt agree more with all those points. Thank you for watching.
@WickedKitchenFood I'd love to see you make a "crockpot" 1 pot potato and lentils recipe. I bet it be bomb. Haha
Me too
Amen! We just hit our five year mark as well.
This looks absolutely amazing. Lots of care going into the cooking process and that's just the way it should be. I'm loving catching up on all your videos.
There is nothing I dislike : the food, the mug, your sleeves, your voice, the dog 💚🌱
Thanks for watching, Jean.
Italians often remove the 'germ' of the garlic clove. It has a bitterness. See Pasta Grammar
You're kinda like the Bob Ross of cooking, smooth, calm voice, makes me sleepy. And, in your case, hungry too.
the julienned onions at the bottom of the baking dish to prevent sticking is such a great tip! onions taste sooo good caramelized in the oven
Derek, you're basically my favourite chef on UA-cam. I love your videos. I just wanted to let you know that.
Wow, thanks!
I wish I could “like” this video again, I’ve watched it at least 3 times. 😂
You are the bob ross of plant based cooking I swear! Your voice is so calming and its so satisfying watching you cook. I also learn a lot!
I’ve been vegan for 16 years, and this is the most amazing lasagna recipe I’ve seen. I’m making this once the weather gets cool and it will be tolerable to have the oven on. Thank you for this recipe!
Didn't realize I needed lasagna back in my life til now. Thanks😄
It's one of those 4-6 times a year meals to make at home, thanks for watching.
Im a vegan private chef and I am def going to try this.. Only thing I would add is a dollop of white miso or chic-pea miso to the blender when you were making the cauliflower cheese sauce. The umami in the miso is really tasty.
Miso works, it's just extra when trying to make this simple - and oddly enough they don't sell fresh miso in many grocers here in the U.K. which is a miss!
@@DerekSarnoChef oh wow ..yes u guess the U.S maybe its more accessible.
Ooohhhh great idea! Miso of course.
Question: Do you have a recommendation for a great stainless knife for the smallest female hands ever? Really fun to watch your knife skills! Also, that Mornay looks amazing.
That sucks. I love red and white miso from Miso Master. Tastes phenomenal added to any savory dish and it’s organic to boot!
Oh Derek! So many…so, so many GREAT TIPS in this video. My challenges: wipe down the chopping board after every single veggie chop. Toasted spices and garlic; cauliflower ‘bechamel’ sauce; add lentils! Steamed mirrepoire; lots of canned tomatoes. I salivated throughout that entire video. And your narrative from start to finish with snippets of your gorgeous doggy…Thank you so much for the generosity shared in all your videos. 🥰
Thanks very much for watching. You got those challenges - easy!
Absolute perfection 👌 if you're gifting stuff like that to your neighbours I think we all want to move to your street 😃
Lol, thanks for watching.
Me too 😂😂😂
I love your new commentary video style and the healthier plant-based recipes. Keep them coming! I will be watching.
Wicked! Thank you for supporting
Thank you so much for such a gorgeous oil-free recipe, Derek. Love seeing you back on UA-cam for the longer-format videos. Also really appreciate the more frequent Instagram shorts, but miss the longer ones when you're gone from YT for too long. Thank you for all the inspiration and for making plant-based eating so wickedly appealing!
Thanks for the kind words and support.
Made this over the bank holiday weekend and it tasted amazing, definitely takes time but worth every second. You need to make this, the kale is a game changer so don’t skip it. Thanks for sharing Derek and Stan the whippet was fascinated by Frankie!
Amazing, thanks for watching.
It’s one thing I’ve yet to make as a vegan of 4 years, thanks for sharing the recipe I will be sure to try it! Looks delicious 🌱
Thanks for watching, this one is amazing and we will soon do a full fat plant based one too
One of the easiest meals. And freezes well too.
knocked it out off the park man! interesting white sause not using the obvious cashews makes it less costly too. will try it. your love for cooking and passion for vegan food is inspiring & joy filling :) xoxo AJ
Adding nuts makes it pasty when cooled, without them is less expensive and helps keep the viscosity more pliable hot or cool. Plus nuts are an allergy for some. Thanks for watching!
Made this recipe for Christmas. I think I have this video memorized by now. I used one large lasagna pan instead of two. It's in the oven now. Fingers crossed!
The cauliflower/potato bechamel is a genius idea!
I am a very practical person cooking, usually I try being fast. But I absolutely love your videos hahaha it brings me so much peace
I hear that! Being quick in the kitchen comes with practice. You got this! Thank you for watching.
I freaking love the oil free recipes!! THANK YOU! I wish more people would do it
Thanks for watching, we like to mix it up on this channel - flavor first.
The big bros enchiladas are something else too.
Just had those the other night, might have to recreate for here
I would buy that at a grocery store if it was being sold.
We sell a version (not gluten free) in TEsco in the UK now.
How about in the USA?
Excellent recipe, thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to try it.
Thank you
I love your recipes and your understated presentation style. It's a nice antidote to the fake enthusiasm you often see in cooking videos.
Thanks for watching.
Gorgeous! My mouth is watering. Thankyou this is just non stop healthy helpful howto's! A lifetime ago I worked in the kitchen of a Whole Foods Market before it was Amazon, before it was Whole Foods; it was small home-town stores; the one I was employed at was called Wellsprings. People used to call in on a landline telephone and we would stop cooking to help them. Upon penalty of death no-one ever was to give out a recipe to anyone. They were handwritten on index cards. We used to joke if they ever wrote a cookbook it would sell out. Thanks for your genius in the kitchen; you've become my new favorite cooking channel!
Amazing! Thanks for watching and hope you find it useful.
Derek’s a legend! I can’t wait to try this 😊
Very nice of you to make one for a neighbor.. ❤😊
I have been wanting an amazing plant based lasagna recipe!!!! Thank you! I took your very first plant based cooking class on Rouxbe that you and Chad taught several years ago. I loved it and my son told me I became a BETTER cook through that!
This looks so delicious, my mouth is watering. I’m going to make it for the weekend. Loved the little tip about putting onion at the bottom to stop the pasta sticking👍👏👏
Wicked! Let us know how it goes. That tip works.
Dude, freaking next level. You're doing the lords work bro..🙌
Thanks for watching.
every time i watch your videos i'm getting hungry - this lasagne looks very good!
Digging these chill videos. So cool
Thanks Will
I love going back to watch your older videos which I haven't seen when I have the time to spare.
But this one blew my mind!
There's so many recipes which can be made out of this one recipe!
Just off the top of my head you could make lasagne (obviously), bolognese sauce, a carbonara base, cheesy mac, potato bake, cauliflower bake, and on and on.
Seriously, thank you for your videos. I've been vegan for around 15 years now and love cooking, but until I came across your channel I was starting to feel a bit stale with cooking and being very reliant on easy options such as plant based mince.
If I get nothing else from your videos it's to just have fun with it.
But I do get so much more than that, believe me!
I think the next time I cook a pasta sauce I'll leave the plant based mince in the freezer and the wine in the bottle and start with the lentil sauce you've got here. I'm sure it'll be great and no doubt I'd I make it again I'll add a dash of wine as usual, but I'm keen to just try what you've done as a starting point.
Anyway, thank you again!!
I just discovered your channel and this is my first video. Thank you so much! I have been cooking/gardening/fermenting "healthy" for a long time, but my husband diagnosed with autoimmune disease and now has been on a majorly strict anti-inflammatory diet for a year (sugar/oil free, gluten free, plant based, corn free, nightshade free). I have tried to rock it for a year, but often need creative impulses to wrap my head around something new. With tomato season around the corner, I just can't imagine if I ferment my sauce that it could be bad for anyone not really allergic. This recipe sounds like a game changer:) Your videos are amazingly entertaining as well as informative. I am glad to know I am not alone to my "Up-ing my game thoughts" while cutting vegetables:)
The Wicked Kitchen Lasagna from Tesco's is far and away my favourite of the the shop bought vegan meals I've tried. I love it. Thank you for posting this recipe. Its gone right to the top of my "must make" list. It's raining cats and dogs here today so I'm off to the shops to get the bits I need to cook this over the weekend. Cant wait. 🙂
Thanks for watching and saying... And yep - it's easier to just count the sunny days here. :)
Oooh - love the “toast the garlic with the skins on”
tip!
I’m new to your channel, but I’m already hooked 🤤.
Thanks for watching
looks delicious! would you teach us how to make the roasted red peppers? seen them in the other video and had my mouth watering. love your channel, cheers from Brazil
Thanks for watching. Sure thing - will try to incorporate that into an up coming video
Oh my !!, im so grateful for you , my husband is a young man , just had a heart attack, and now diagnosed with angina and diabetes…..I didn’t know where to start , want to change our life but wasn’t sure where to begin .This means everything to us.thank you so much .
Happy to help. Thanks for watching
What a great demonstration of food prep chopping, cleaning up and a wonderful dish, and soothing voice ❤
Just discovered your channel and I am "in LOVE". Have only seen 2 recipes and am ready to try them both. I am so happy you decided to start your channel. Best wishes always.
Welcome! Thanks for watching
This is one fantastic peace of goodness! Just made it and the whole family enjoyed it. I think velvety white sauce made with cauliflower, potato and alternative milk is just out of this world! My new favourite subscription, Sir! Derek’s voice is so calm and reassuring that even when I had to improvise with herbs I somehow knew it will still turn out amazing. Thank you for your recipe, Derek! ❤
Damn that looks good! Can't believe you were able to wait to eat it 😂
I think sometimes waiting makes it even better.
@@DerekSarnoChef interesting 😏
Sweet baby jeebus, going to make this 😍 #veganAF
Heck yea!
Love how stripped-down your videos are, it adds intimacy and makes it feel as if I was right there in your kitchen standing over your shoulder watching you make the dish. And thank you for the educational commentary alongside of it, since my culinary knowledge is quite poor. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching
Loved every minute of it. This cook first, add narration later format is awesome. Reminds me of the theatrical cut of Bladerunner 👌🏻
Thanks for watching, so glad you enjoy!
This is awesome. I’m going to try this on a fancy Sunday maybe for a meal prep.
Sounds like a great Sunday! Thank you for watching.
That looks like it’s packed with flavor. I think the concentrating of the ingredients is a key to great-tasting vegan food, as well. Thank you for sharing!
As far as what I’d like to see you make - the layering made me think of enchiladas.
Good day :^)
Thank you for watching.
Love this format- hearing kitchen sounds with relaxed voiceover! Nice!
Thanks so much
In the UK you can buy the chopped onion, celery, carrot, ready made from Waitrose, frozen or fresh, called Sofritto mix.
Thanks for sharing!
Whaaaah.....that looks SO GOOD! Thanks for posting!
Thank you for watching.
Derek, your videos are an amazing journey to learn a new way of eating. The 80% healthy/20% Wicked is still 100% better than the SAD way of eating. Keep pumping out the vids, give Miss Frankie a pet for you friends in the UA-cam Sphere. I shared your videos constantly.
I absulutely love your recipes. Thanks for the onion tip.😊
When you bit into it I felt like I could smell the sauce! I can’t wait to try this recipe 😋
Thanks for watching! Can't wait for you to try.
Love, love it! I have missed you! I think I last saw one of your vids right after you came back to the states when Covid hit. Anyway, have been watching your brother and his little guy too. I loved this video, and I am so thrilled to see you back. You made this look incredibly reasonable to make. Thank you so much for taking the time to put these videos out, they are so wonderful and very helpful! ❣
It's good to be back! Thank you for watching and supporting. So happy to be of benefit.
That slice looks epic
That's so smart to julienne an onion for the bottom of your roasting dish. I'll be borrowing this tip, for sure; thanks!
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this oil free recipe !! Yummy !! Can’t wait to try it. Need to get those lasagna sheets ASAP:)
Thank you for the receipt
Beautiful !
Wow! That was Fantastic.
im so impressed and inspired. I think pesto -ish sauce thing in lasagna is so delicious. it makes sense.
Think of it more as an italian inspired curry' paste
@@DerekSarnoChef looks so flavorful cant wait to try making this dish
Loving these new-style videos where Frankie gets to make special appearances :-)
Frankie gets all the love, she is the best.
Wow, will def try this!
I reverse my kidney disease with vegan diet and intermittent fasting! But I was looking for tastier vegan recipes. I think I have just found them with your book and channel, thanks!
Thank you so much for this amazing video!! I can’t wait to make this lasagna!!
I love love love your channel! Healthy food and delicious food!! 🌱
I've been a professional cook and baker for a big part of my adult life. Your recipes - and this one especially, tick off so many boxes for me; interesting, creative, veg forward and, as I can see from the methods and the ingredients, delicious. I can't wait to make a batch of this lasagna. Will make a great dish for throughout the week for my family and me. I can't eat healthy evening 50% of the time if it's not yummy, or I don't get a chance to do some "real" cooking. thanks!
Wicked! Thanks for watching
Thank you for this recipe! I am trying to move to eating a more plant-based diet, but I am a foodie who loves all foods. Your recipes really help with this transition and make it doable!
Amazing recipe! Thank you for sharing 😊
I love your videos, your recipes, your commentary. You're like a cooking sensei, teaching us the arts of cooking while giving life advice
Thanks this looks amazing will have to try
Beautiful execution as always Derek! You do very well on these latest videos with voice over! Lovely lasagna!
Ah. Thanks for watching and letting us know.
I love this recipe! Thanks for sharing!
it looks sooo good!
Where have you been all my life?! My mouth is watering…….I am definitely going to make this 😊 thank you for sharing 😊👍 I am oil free and plant based and fining oil free is always a challenge. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks for watching.
i also love how calm and soothing your voice is
Awesome recipe!!! I am sooo looking forward to making this dish!!!❤
Thank you for inspiring me and teaching me how to become a great home cook! You make cooking delicious food accessible!
Man that looks soooo yummy!
This looks sooo good! I will be trying it
Love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing ❤️💚💛
Looks absolutely delicious! I'm not a fan of cauliflower and have avoided it since I was a kid but I keep seeing it crop up in beautiful white sauces so this could be my time to try it. Hopefully you can't taste it 😄
Thanks for putting in some clips of Frankie...dogs are the best! Also loving the voice-over video format. It's a calming, guided food meditation
The sauce is a great way to incorporate. Thank you for watching.
hmm I love cauli! It may come to you, but don't fret if it doesn't. People keep trying to get me to eat avocado and I can't stand it! and I think at the age of 65 that is unlikely to change
@@helenswan705 I actually just prepared and ate brussel sprouts for the first time since being traumatised by them as a child (and I'm 54) so I still will definitely give cauliflower another go soon 🙂 The sprouts were incredible...I just needed to find the best way to cook them (roasting!) and the right flavours to go with them. So happy I've added another yummy veg to my list
@@Paula-wn6do I recommend being very careful not to overcook it. I like to top the sauce-covered cauli with a mix of breadcrumbs, herbs, ground almond and grated cheese (I am not vegan)
This is only the second of your videos I watch, but definitely not the last. You make a plant based diet not only look approachable but also appetising. So much vegan content out there is only about salads and shakes and whatnot. I love anyone who keeps this whole veganism thing on a level I can handle. You rock! Thanks for the videos.
Glad you like them!
Love your idea of using cauliflower to make the white sauce! I'm gonna try this.
Wicked!
Stunning xx
