I've been using them for about two years. Love them. For a long time I assumed that since they were (essentially) free that they were not great, gimmicky, etc. I was wrong in that assumption! As an Ableton user, I have several racks with different combinations of these plugins - some mix and match mojo that I've stumbled on. I pulled the trigger on a $5/mo subscription which is super cheap.
I already own some Waves SSL and CLA compressors, I wouldn’t buy anymore now that AO exists. I am supporting AO on Patreon and that is where my money will be staying fuu out r now. The only thing we need now is a lexicon / SPX / AMS style reverb emulation. This chap is a genius

I went into 6 of them, I was really expecting them to be ‘good for free’. I was really surprised and I’ll probably roll with them in future. I’d rather pay him and support than Waves etc. It’s the long term support that’s a worry if I had any negative. Hopefully he grows the team
I’m subscribed to Analog Obsession as well and get his plug ins. Don’t forget to click on the “analog obsession “ sign so you can access the 4X oversampling
Hello! Please help me choose an audio interface! I have a Neumann 30 just like you! but it seems to me that they sound bad with my ID 14 card! please tell me which card to choose for them? I looked at RME and Motu
Count me in as a satisfied user of AO, too!!! I love this guys products.... use a bunch of them > Db Comp, Prebox (love it), Tuba, ..... his Channel strips are really good, too... Atone, Channev, Brit channel....... gotta get the ones you reviewed, though .... also, curious about his new one... forget the name 🤪
Have you tried commenting on the plugin page regarding your issue? He usually does reply and try fixing any issues. Obviously he is a lone ranger but he does respond and listen to suggestions and issues
his plugins sound analog but they dont do what they say. i was using his buster se and noticed that no matter what i set the parameters to the peaks always come through at the same db level. so no matter what the signal can never be compressed. which is dumb af for a compressor. the attack times dont match whats actually happening. the attack is always to slow and instead of compressing it actually expands the peaks and makes everything else quieter. the opposite of what its meant to do. his specomp is the only one i like. its actually great.
Acoustica may have had a bit more air, it maybe it just did better things in the highs.... But it was a very solid substitution for some of your favorite plugins. Yeah... I don't like SSL's software stuff either.... So I wasn't counting that one. The glue is a good one
I haven't checked them out recently... I noticed they were pretty good when he first started adding ant-aliasing... Quite a while ago. (Still at the beginning of the video about to listen to your samples and take another look at analog obsession for the first time in a while.) I'll chime back in after the video.
Their Bus compressor has a slightly more mellow curve than the SSL bus comp.. it's really good. I recommend anyone new to get that plugin for bus compression. I know orchestral game composers using it on the master track
Great plugins, they definitely have their own sound, his Preamps & EQ's shine, the comps don't have the transient response for me and a lot of the meters give the wrong readings (ie: meter says 4db GR, actual dbfs reduction is 2db) but if you can live with a few quirks and use the comps for parallel processing then AO is nice! I'll still use other stuff more but I like his stuff for sure!
I agree that Acustica Audio equalizers (and compressors) are the best in The digital domain. Universal Audio Pultec EQs are as good as the AA Purple though
@@FoliaSound Ahh snap... I'm running out of excuses for bad mixes, gonna blame speaker stands for now and when I fix that, blame the room or something else xD
I have a question regarding another plugin please. Scaler EQ. Is is something you will cover? I'm asking because I keep seeing the new Chroma by Xynth praised, but I also keep thinking it might "just" be like a simple scaler eq, meaning it boost frequencies in key, like scaler eq, until they resonate. Hope this question made sense 😅 opinions?

Analog Obsession is awesome. And you didn't even try the oversampling function (by clicking on the analog obsession logo) ...

I love Analog Obsession plugins so much I made sure to become a patreon backer! SSQ & BusterSE are some of my favorite plugins period
does their plugins give you an analog sound
PLEASE for compressors and saturators take an acoustic drum loop that is unprocessed, you can hear MUCH MORE how they work and sound...

BusterSE is really good. I've used it many times in the past.
In your last full mix comparison I heard a little more fundamental in the low end. Nothing that couldn't be modifed with the EQ or parameters.
I love their Neve channel strip but it constantly crashed Reaper.
