Thank you. I planted a new avocado last spring, and it has been flourishing. I'm terrified of the winter. I'm going to try the umbrella. I'll let you know how it goes. What are your thoughts on stringing some Christmas tree lights up on the trunk? Could that be additional help?
I dont worry until temperatures start dropping into the upper 20’s, but winter is on its way.

Jeff, would you recommend putting down a layer of compost on the soil around palm trees, going into winter?

My Gwen is 7-8 ft tall in one season planted this may grew 5 ft and very difficult to protect?
What do you do on a cold, windy, and raining night? Remove the canopy and pray? lol
