That ladies and gentlemen is a Master Craftsman at work. I would love to be able to create something like that. I had a go on a potters wheel years ago it looked so easy. I ended up losing my dentures, doing a strange wiggle dance and bouncing about like Barbara Windsor in Carry on Camping. Final result? I produced a blob of clay that probably looked a lot better before I went anywhere near it :)
Your films are my medicine against insomnia! I need more films. I,ve seen them all again and again. Love your pottery, love your voice and the sound of the wheal. Its all so relaxing.
Been 20 years since I threw on a wheel last with more than 4k total pieces made. Have to say your technique is top notch and you move the clay like a master! I always wedged into cones and set them tip up to start off. Just make sure you are turning so the wedge spiral is following the wheel direction, or it essentially unwinds the clay wraps from the wedging. Learned that from a Masters potter's class once. Think he was named Davis. Long ago... Geat Work!
Wow. You are incredibly skillful. You threw that pot as though it wanted to be that shape. I am in awe. You also are very personable, thanks for sharing
I sent my mom one very much like this when I was stationed in Korea. It arrived in a thousand pieces but she glued it all back together. Great video. ❤️
DON'T SUB TO ME I DARE YOU It is hard lol. My ceramics class is hard. It’s a pain to center clay. He makes it so easy and I thought my class was gonna be east but it’s hard af
Yer Mom When people ask me how hard it is to learn throwing, I tell them it’s harder than riding a bike but not as hard as playing the piano. Of course, there are levels of proficiency with anything.
Thanks, Capt. Obvious! I really thought the watch police were gonna come and take me away! Edit : I'm so sorry. They did. The watch police took me away. I love you Mom and I love you Sarah, tell the kids daddy is on his way... ...to the light.
I would love to see this from the other side, to see how you place your hands. Everytime I throw bigger things than cups, they collapse as I pull upwards... at the last part of it.. Thanks for sharing!
Yo that is god level! I cannot do that... ...yet :}. Then again I don't have your wheel or your money, I built my own outta a spinning mop bucket, stacked plant pots and a large plant pot base for the wheel, and I've done bowls so far...
I miss ceramics T.T use to throw on the wheel all the time in high-school. I love things like this! The way he centered, pulled out and threw up was really fluid he didn't force the clay he moved with it. I also love how he got the shape while bottle necking or choking the rim can cause complications he ensured that the shoulder kept its integrity all the while. I did something like this though I completely enclosed the top creating a hollow sphere to then use a needle tool to create a lid from the top. Over all a ton of fun and takes a ton of skill if you don't know what you are doing well that clay is going to wrinkle or flop especially depending on the amount of water used ^^; amazing skill quite enjoyed the process what I would give to throw on a wheel again :)
You can get a throwing wheel on Amazon for $150 and clay is pretty cheap I think you can get 5 pounds for $15 do it if you enjoy pottery I'm sure u won't regret it
Fairly good looking vase. I made my urn already as a young potter; its a bit off though think im going to pick throwing pottery back up and make a new urn. Along with some nice bowls vases and other containers
I'm here because of what the Bible says about Jesus and how we are in His hands as the clay is in the potters hand. I wanted to see how that looked like and I realized it looks very gentle. Even the pressure and the firmness is done with delicate precision. The purpose of the potter is always to make something beautiful

Watching these videos, I'm wondering how the clay has enough strength that these narrow-necked shapes don't collapse. I'm going to end up taking a pottery class.
Don't mind me I'm just here because watching the clay get shaped is so satisfying! °o° This is inspiring me to do pottery when I get a job. I'm gonna start to try get a job when I'm 13 so yaaaa... That will be my job (if I don't manage to make the pots and stuff collapse

This reads very closely as a massive insult! 😂
@JT1989 how?
He got it centered so quick wow
Sorry but what is centered?
?????? From what I’ve seen, centering is when you smack the clay right onto the center of the pottery wheel.
@@user-mb4df8pr8j After throwing the clay on the wheel you have to balance its mass in the center so it isn't wobbly.
Yann cedric Totsingan eh they could just be new to pottery haha
I'm a ceramic 2 (2nd year in ceramics) student and I take 5 minutes to center... Maybe I'm not strong enough to force it to the middle?

I used to watch this guy in my high school pottery class. What a legend
Just been following pottery videos for the last couple days, and now I’m hooked. This video was amazing.
Pottery is the most satisfying thing ever!!

I lost track of how many designs you molded here. 👏
Just beautiful. I can imagine it with flowers and vines. Could you show painting and glazing techniques some day also?
I'll try to do that.
Thanks.
Thank you very much. That is really kind of you. I could watch you all day.

Just to keep it simple... The answer is YES...
YES you can always remove your wrist watch

wow what I would give to spend an afternoon watching you throw in person!
Wonderful! I'd also love a video of this of the other side so I could see more of what you are doing. Thanks - I can't wait to try this!
This looks easy. Therefore, I’m sure it’s not.
It will take me hours to center as fast as you ! Great work 🙃
Sooo relaxing and how you made that look so easy ! thank you for posting
I love watching pot making.

I wonder if it could be you are pulling your sides out too soon. Or making the walls too thin lower down. I have done all of that.
That was the quickest centering of this amount of clay ever. It was like he skipped the process all together. Wow.
Yo that is god level! I cannot do that... ...yet :}. Then again I don't have your wheel or your money, I built my own outta a spinning mop bucket, stacked plant pots and a large plant pot base for the wheel, and I've done bowls so far...
