Was in the market for a Bagger and got the F6B... Never want anything else than a Goldwing anymore... If I will buy a new one it will be the new standard Wing... and the F6B will be turned into a sidecar bike... Great bike
Honda Canada where were you before I bought my 2019 GoldWing with a bunch of hesitation because the Honda America offers very little information at least that I can find, even the dealers here have super generic information. Thank you for posting! I think that is probably a big downfall of goldwing sales is the lack of information for the price. Also here in the US dealers with demo bikes are few and far between so people go with like BMW because they basically throw you the keys and say go have fun. Where I called 5 Honda dealers and they all said no test rides, one finally said, if you submit a credit app and we get approval you can test ride this $25,000 motorcycle before you buy it!
Honda Motorcycles Canada absolutely, anything I can do to help the new goldwing is a beautiful riding bike, there is so much hard press on the new goldwing it’s hard to know anything about it, then you go to local dealers like Temecula Motorsports and they have 4 2016’s in stock and some 2018’s still, so it gives the impression it doesn’t sell. I go on Honda’s website and they even say the dealer Huntington Beach Honda I purchased mine from is a demo bike dealer, I called them directly and they told me they don’t have demo bikes and don’t do test rides, I had to submit a credit app and be ready to buy to be able to go on a 1 block test ride on city streets. Malcom Smith says ‘no test rides’ same with Temecula motorsports, and Chapparall in San Bernardino. I emailed Honda here and Honda said that ‘allowing a test ride is up to the dealer’ I took the chance and signed on a bike I rode one block, I own it now. But I’d imagine most people aren’t going to do that. This bike isn’t cheap, it’s more than the competition, but here in Southern California you can’t touch a goldwing to test ride but literally you can walk into any BMW dealer and demo any model. The only way I can make a decision on the bike are the reviews here on UA-cam and people yap about things that once I got to ride mine home weren’t at all a problem for me. Even the sales rep I was working with had never ridden the goldwing. So I think, more clear info on the goldwing and easier demo rides would make a world of difference with people committing to the hefty price tag on the bike.
Good inclusive video. My only issue is the weight of this bike. The DCT is one engineering marvel but I think Honda should have kept the new Goldwing's weight in the 700 range. As is my BMW K 1600 GT bike.
Questions...? How difficult is it to add or remove the trunk package and how much does it cost? Do you have to pay a monthly fee for the navigation system? What is the difference in the two bikes in the video? Why would I not want to buy this model over the GW Tour? If I buy the trunk package to go along with it.
Was comparing this to my 2000 BMW K1200. Opinions aside let’s state facts. 1. Electric windshield .. yep 2. GPS nope.. but a ram x mount and an iPhone 3. Heated handgrips .. you betcha 4. LED headlights.. Amazon $30 all set 5. Appleplay... see #2 6. Rear speakers.. yep 7. Electric cruise control... works perfect 8. Heated driver seat.. my Bmw has it 9. Heated passenger seat.... My Bmw has it 10. Bluetooth.. bought one that works by radio for $10 on Amazon Oh and I bought the bike last year for $2200
I prefer the 2017 model, less tech, less things to go wrong, I love a key better then the fob, after having bikes with fobs and telling me it’s out of range when it’s in my pocket, bit bias Mabe when I own a 2017 F6B👍
Is the TPMS actually accurate? I've seen other high end motorcycle with that feature, and they read higher than actual tire pressure when it was hot, and colder than actual tire pressure when it was cold. It was not a trustworthy feature because of that.
Been tossing up between a H-D or a Goldwing. I am in the market for a nice touring bike. Man! This new Honda is NICE. Which to choose...which to choose.
HD ultra more storage amazing ride Know Tons of guys clocked well over 100k no issues plus if you really get serious and want to join an MC and rallies / non US Bikes (Honda ) are looked down upon if you ever go that route in the future / yes it’s not fair because I known the 2018 wing is a great bike / test ride an ultra or glide then Honda you’ll find besides some gadgets the ride quality and handling are very close
Honda built this Goldwing for Moto journalist, not for wing riders. If I wanted this Goldwing, I would have bought a sport tourer years ago. I seriously wonder how many Goldwing riders Honda has lost. Sure, they get the praises of the journalists, but they weren't the buyers anyway.
I have 22. No extra speaker option. Looked for trunk guy at Honda shop thinks I’m nuts. The navigation system absolutely sucks balls. Reverse and windshield a big win. Outside of that. I wish I had bought a used f6b
This new Gold Wing is awesome. Especially in DCT. One test ride in Sport mode will put a smile on your face. If you haven’t ridden one you can’t complain. Kinda like not Voting on Election Day.
GREAT VIDEO = A HUGE THANK YOU!! Being a Honda Rep, could you tell me whether or not the Gold Wing utilizes CAN-Bus? I have heard that, similar to the newer Beemers, that Honda is now following this modern technology and that by doing so over 10 pounds of weight loss from less copper wiring has been aquired.. Is this true and could you elablorate? THANK YOU!
Hi Elijah, thank you for reaching out. Our non-touring/non-trunk versions do not have traction control however, the touring/trunk versions have traction control. For more details feel free to contact your local dealer. Please use this link to locate a dealer nearby: motorcycle.honda.ca/dealerlocator.
Those seats on both of those bikes look to high and wide for the Host to comfortably reach the ground.. He didn't mention any differences in that department
To me a Goldwing meant the most comfortable touring bike ...now it's a bagger. The appearance of the touring model is nice and sporty, but you give up too much storage for a couple. From what I've read the optional 7 speed DCT works flawlessly, but if I didn't want to be bothered with a clutch I'd buy a Vespa. Think I'll just keep my 2014 murdered out black level II.
Test drove a new one couple of years ago and it was governed at 105, no thank you, so the title interested me. Did I miss it or did it never mention top speed. K1600gt does 144mph, so for a similarly size bike and engine I was hoping for similar numbers
Robert Polkamp it’s now 112 mph top speed! I don’t get it ! That you can get out of a HD or an Indian ! Honda should have gone after the BMW K1600 GT in performance it should have been a sport tourer! That Honda for you afraid of performance and HP and of all the colors out there! Again they go with a mat finish and blacken out the engine and exhaust no chrome and nice colors! NO THANKS I’LL KEEP MY 03 GW AND MY NEXT BIKE WILL BE AN INDIAN CHIEFTAIN WITH A DECENT PAINT JOB!
love the redesign!! Currently own a 2015 F6B..which has been cross country twice :-) My only concern would be that I am a shorter rider at 5 foot 5 inches...I have to wear Engineer boots to flat foot on my F6B...it looks like the new model has a higher seat height(?)...that could affect my decision to upgrade, but is there a way to lower the seat height on the new model ?
Thank you for visiting Honda Motorcycles Canada. Unfortunately, we are only able to comment on products sold in Canada. Please contact your local Honda dealer in the U.S for more information about locally available products.
If you can add a trunk to the Goldwing, why is it such a hassle to remove the one on the Goldwing tour? I’ve read you have to buy a kit $500 which comes with a 40 page book of instructions telling you how to remove the trunk!!!!
That Honda DCT works brilliant, have it on my X-adv, different modes including manual. The only thing you can't do, which may be a downside for some, is revving your engine, like when you want to let people know your there .., because there is no clutch. Doesn't bother me at all though ...
Test road both versions past weekend. DCT is seamless but still want the manual as just felt more connected to the bike. don't think you would regret either choice
Everything I have seen on the '18 states that it does NOT have reverse. (only on the tour model) Also the rear suspension adjustments are manual. This video to me is misleading.
There is no comparison, the F6B looks much better then the new Goldwing. There is no substitute for the smooth and flowing form of the F6B. I don't like the "Edgy" styling of the newly designed Goldwing, it's just not my thing. This is not a comparison video, as I hoping for a non-biased ride, handling and performance comparison of the two, not a WHY I SHOULD BUY A NEW GOLDWING VIDEO. I'll stick with my '13 F6B.
What about highway pegs?? I'm sorry but this is my first Honda and so far I've been disappointed with how Honda rolled out this bike. Very limited accessories available. A bike of this stature who most put highway pegs on, is non-existent. I ordered bag inserts and the carpet, OVER a month to get them is friggin ridiculous. Great bike, but if you are trying to keep new Honda buyers, some forward thinking might help.
Talking about ABS but 'forget' to mention that there is not traction control available for the standard-model. Ok, it's 'only' ~25k, so why bother, right? It's not like you can get a fully loaded K1600GT BMW with all the bells and whistles (way more than the GoldWing offers) for the same money. Oopps! And talking about the navigation.. The satnav on the GoldWing is the absolute worst satnav I've ever used on a motorcycle! A 5 year-old Garmin or TomTom is way better than this one. So you'll have to install an aftermarket satnav. I really fell in love with the looks of the new GoldWing but stuff like that really stops me from buying it. It is as overpriced as a Harley but at least Harley is honest and doesn't praise their bikes with being 'high-tech' (while, in fact, you get more high-tech on a Harley Tourer than on a standard GoldWing...).
Remote start?! The 'wing's security just took a big step backwards. Gotta say I'm quite disappointed with the now 'optional extras' which have been features of even the most basic model since their introduction, and the insecure (spoofable) remote start system. I like the idea of heated grips as standard but never needed them on the GL1500 because the mirrors were great deflectors. The LED headlights are cool though, but I think it'll take a little while longer to get used to the new shape again (the 1800 took a while to grow on me)
hahaha..'This is the Goldwing that the market has been clamoring for, and Honda took a chance and built it.' Goldwing is a tourer, should have all luggage as standard, seems to be heading in line with BMW, where you have to start with a base then pay for all additions!! as for all the electronic wonders that even cooks your breakfast!! expensive when it all starts to go wrong, no doubt over here in good old blighty the MoT will be a bugger to pass too...........
the F6B is a touring bike yes but it's more of a long commuter. Other bikes with similar roles would be something like the Honda Pacific coast. This has a great niche, in fact it would fit my lifestyle as is perfectly. Sadly I don't have the money for it. Also it being lighter and sleeker with the same obscene power plant really gives it a good bump
I love this new technology but I do not like his new disagne, it was rather that he keeps the disagn of gl1500 by adding this new technology. this goldwing has lost its royal look, because now the front part is like a scooter ...
It's sad bikes are becoming nothing more than a car with all of the crap they are putting on them. You couldn't give me one of these new 2018 or above wanna-be motorcycles. Yes I am a veteran rider of 40+ years and have seen many good changes and bad.
Rehnquist, You are absolutely correct! I have a Goldwing 1500 in my garage because of all the added things on the new Goldwing that I will NEVER use and consider them a distraction from riding. If you don't know where you are going, then you are where you are, period. Who needs to listen to all those music channels when the sound of the road is why you are NOT in a car. Tire pressure monitor? Yep, my Jeep has that and all the sensors have went bad and at $75 each, I went with $2 regular schrader valves. Oh ya, poor me, I have to take off my glove because I left my key in my pocket, SO WHAT Honda, I can deal with my stupidity and learn to not leave my key in my pocket, NOW I HAVE TO change a battery all the time! Quit treating riders like they are babies and can not do things like check a tire pressure before riding. And if I get a flat, I will feel it, I don't need a pressure indicator telling me my tire is going flat. That is why my 1500 Goldwing has a air pump on board and I have a plug kit to fix the hole or pull the nail... Sheeezz, the cost on these new Goldwings are more than cars and you only get half the amount of tires!!! Sell me a Goldwing 1800 with none of the gizmos and no radio/input to speakers, just a damn bike so I can sing to myself while I can afford to buy gas on my $8,000 Goldwing!!!! Half the tires, half the price. Half the steel frame, half the price. I can get a new car for $12,000 or less!!!! Goldwings should be $6,000! Honda where is the ECONO Goldwing for those of us who rode the first 1975 models, the 80s models, the 90s models and stopped at the 1500 and are now going to the alternate bikes because of price and gadgets!!! Produce the Econo Goldwing without the distractions of gadgets for 1/5th the price! Otherwise, good-bye Goldwing. When mine dies (has 134,000 miles on it), I will not replace it with a new Goldwing, I will only buy used which does not help Honda's bottom line!
I think the new Goldwing is a major improvement over the last generation. It's comparably priced to the previous version and to competitors from HD, BMW, etc. Yes, it's expensive, but it's affordable to just about anyone who makes at or above the average US income. These bikes cost as much as they do because a lot fewer are made than the average car, and Honda (and anyone else in the business) has to pay for the R&D costs, not just the materials and labor costs, and they have to make a profit. This is the Goldwing that the market has been clamoring for, and Honda took a chance and built it. I hope they sell a ton of them. I just wish that Honda would work with their dealers like HD and BMW do, and make it far easier to get test rides on these. I'd love to try out a DCT model... I'm going to get rid of my FJR1300 anyway and this would be a good replacement. Oh, and if you buy used you are helping Honda by keeping the demand for these up. Most guys who sell a used motorcycle are doing so to buy a new one.
Honda, I want a bagger with a fairing & the option to increase storage. Tadaaa the F6B, please convince me as to why your product is better than the BMW K1600GTL, you have approximately 6 mos, & BMW, feel free to do the same, please note, the winner competes against Harley in the semis. Harley get ready......
the new bike has ugly mirrors and a ugly console go for a aggresive judge dredd look not a sports bike look? and whats with those mirrors they are ugly from the driver view side. screw it i will keep the st1300
The F6b is a useless bike with extreme intolerable wind buffeting, a seat that cuts into your thighs each time you stop. the bars are off a wheelbarrow and flex giving a vague sense of control. You cannot stretch your legs. Then there are severe problems with the front forks and steering head bearings. How Honda had the gall to put this flawed third world product into the market is tantamount to sharp practise. Terrible bike like an obese scooter with a Civic glued to the front.
I added a better shield and get no wind buffeting. I'm short (5'7") and find it quite comfortable. Most new bikes have shit seats. I added a Mustang. I love my F6B. To call it useless is an overreaction.
I’m not gonna say I’m done with my Harley, but I’m definitely ready for a 2018 Gold wing.
I'm ready but my wallet is not ready yet.
92dmartinez
Keeping one Harley, trading the other for a Wing.
I sold my 19 Street for a 16 Wing and traded my 18 FLH for a 2018 1800B Couldn't give my FLH away.
SAME HERE!
Remember every body rides a Harley 😂 be different and ride this absolute awesome 👍👍👍👍
The back-lit handlebar switches is always a nice touch at night. No mention about that. But Gold Wing’s got it. Good looking bike.
best video I've seen on youtube.. good work Honda motorcycles Canada!
Was in the market for a Bagger and got the F6B... Never want anything else than a Goldwing anymore... If I will buy a new one it will be the new standard Wing... and the F6B will be turned into a sidecar bike... Great bike
I still think the F6B looks better.
@Dennis Adrian your right...nobody cares.
I prefer the old One 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️
Honda Canada where were you before I bought my 2019 GoldWing with a bunch of hesitation because the Honda America offers very little information at least that I can find, even the dealers here have super generic information. Thank you for posting! I think that is probably a big downfall of goldwing sales is the lack of information for the price. Even the sales rep I was working with had never ridden the goldwing. That bike is really nice.
Honda the best constructor motor in the world .. security .. quality and performance .💜✌️
Gold wing my Dream ..✍️
Good inclusive video. My only issue is the weight of this bike. The DCT is one engineering marvel but I think Honda should have kept the new Goldwing's weight in the 700 range. As is my BMW K 1600 GT bike.
But the GoldWing does not suffer from final drive failure and actually has several dealerships in each state ; )
Final drive failure? Ha? Right now they're discounting the new Goldwing by no less than $5K on 18's. Something ain't right there.
Thanks. As I look at the picture the bike on the right must be the last generation F6B
I priced it out. It will run more than 2k
Was comparing this to my 2000 BMW K1200. Opinions aside let’s state facts.
1. Electric windshield .. yep
2. GPS nope.. but a ram x mount and an iPhone
3. Heated handgrips .. you betcha
4. LED headlights.. Amazon $30 all set
5. Appleplay... see #2
6. Rear speakers.. yep
7. Electric cruise control... works perfect
8. Heated driver seat.. my Bmw has it
9. Heated passenger seat.... My Bmw has it
10. Bluetooth.. bought one that works by radio for $10 on Amazon
Oh and I bought the bike last year for $2200
Wow. Great facts.
So, your saying, the only difference between the Tour and the F6B is the trunk? I thought there were more differences than that.
I prefer the 2017 model, less tech, less things to go wrong, I love a key better then the fob, after having bikes with fobs and telling me it’s out of range when it’s in my pocket, bit bias Mabe when I own a 2017 F6B👍

Been tossing up between a H-D or a Goldwing. I am in the market for a nice touring bike. Man! This new Honda is NICE. Which to choose...which to choose.
Honda
Go for the H-D... one year later you'll understand why you should have gotten the Honda. ;)
Man I do love that Road King Special..No lie!
I hear ya bud... H-D's are awesome looking bikes but they just don't hold up.

Why no traction control on a bike this size? I see you have it on the tour.

Question to Honda Motorcycles Canada:
Will you offer the Gold Wing with DCT in Canada any soon?
I can not wait to have one of these bikes. I currently have a 2016 Concours 14. I love my Kawasaki however I really want a Honda Gold Wing.
No dragrace? :)
Think I'll just keep my 2014 murdered out black level II.
so this is just a Vespa. Right.
Honda needs to put some decent paint jobs on these bikes and drop the flat black!!!!
Does the Gold wing have heated seats like the tour ?
no
What you mean Optional rear speakers, My 88 Came with rear speakers

just not crazy of all the new electrical gadgets that can and will go wrong..
Wow i love this Bike
So tired of rowing gears when in traffic, anyone have feedback on the DCT?
John Ford best thing since cruise control. go for it
I hate manual transmition on heavy traffics. Especialy on very hot day. Its hot as hell.

The U.S model Goldwing with the 7 speed DCT does have Electric Reverse, but the 6 speed manual does not have reverse. Great Vid!

goksu goksay been working great for over 50 years so far
You may say that's a con, but it allows you to control your bike better with mids.
If it rains and that display gets wet, does it start going crazy like some phones?
Honda Motorcycles Canada Thanks for responding. :) Ws curious about that thank you. Looks like a really nice bike!
The LED headlights are cool though, but I think it'll take a little while longer to get used to the new shape again (the 1800 took a while to grow on me)
You know this is spoofable how? I wasn't aware watching a video gave you an idea of what protocols are used to enable that wireless connection.
hahaha..'This is the Goldwing that the market has been clamoring for, and Honda took a chance and built it.' Goldwing is a tourer, should have all luggage as standard, seems to be heading in line with BMW, where you have to start with a base then pay for all additions!! as for all the electronic wonders that even cooks your breakfast!! expensive when it all starts to go wrong, no doubt over here in good old blighty the MoT will be a bugger to pass too...........
the F6B is a touring bike yes but it's more of a long commuter. Other bikes with similar roles would be something like the Honda Pacific coast. This has a great niche, in fact it would fit my lifestyle as is perfectly. Sadly I don't have the money for it. Also it being lighter and sleeker with the same obscene power plant really gives it a good bump
That new gps is the worse I have ever seen on a bike.
F6c
nah..... I'll stick with my 1981 GL1100 Goldwing.
I love this new technology but I do not like his new disagne, it was
rather that he keeps the disagn of gl1500 by adding this new technology.
this goldwing has lost its royal look, because now the front part is
like a scooter ...
Ya the Tour looks like a scooter. I have the 1800B and I like those looks better and added a wider windshield.
tanks John.
You have got low fuel
Only thing i really dislike about my new goldwing is the navigation ..im not sure who made this unit but its horrible.
This is NOT a Goldwing, its PAN with Goldwing badges
NorfolkParanormal
What is PAN?
I like mine better.. 79' gl 1000 nekkid
imagine the horror of all previous f6b owners who now know they bought a beta model...FJR on steroids...
Not as bad as the horror of the owners who rushed to buy the first-year model 2018, truly a beta model for the new series.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Is the repetitive intrusive metronome-like background pseudo-music soundtrack actually necessary...
Too much tech, not interested.
You should’ve kept the look of the 2013 model the new design is hideous !!!
No way. The old bike looks silly. The new modern look is great.
No hp. I bought K1600B.
Or buy a car
Plus me same thing as a Harley-Davidson only you have on the reader viable
It's sad bikes are becoming nothing more than a car with all of the crap they are putting on them. You couldn't give me one of these new 2018 or above wanna-be motorcycles. Yes I am a veteran rider of 40+ years and have seen many good changes and bad.
Because of some of these stupid new features it’s almost impossible to afford this bike. Thanks for nothing.
Yes,Price my bugbear too
Rehnquist, You are absolutely correct!
Rehnquist lol, nice
Honda, I want a bagger with a fairing & the option to increase storage. Tadaaa the F6B, please convince me as to why your product is better than the BMW K1600GTL, you have approximately 6 mos, & BMW, feel free to do the same, please note, the winner competes against Harley in the semis. Harley get ready......
Subtitles? Really? They get in the way and you don't really need them since you are already speaking English. Wierd.
the new bike has ugly mirrors and a ugly console go for a aggresive judge dredd look not a sports bike look? and whats with those mirrors they are ugly from the driver view side. screw it i will keep the st1300
Without forward controls....i'm OUT!
It’s basically a car in two wheels.
just talk no music please too distracting and too loud hard to hear the guy talking
it's a two wheel car
