Robbie youre such a good fisherman. I never have your luck. All we caught in the bvis trolling in May was a barracuda. Was that a tuna or a skipjack in the beginning? The keeper.
He thinks it was most likely a blackfin tuna - skipjack would have stripes. Yea he catches a lot of barracudas everywhere we go in the tropics also. We don’t like eating those suckers because of the ciguatera risk.
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your channel. You are both a joy to share this journey with. Yes, you are correct that the Police are paid by the private event to provide extra security. Safe travels, cheers.💖🤗⛵🐬🐕
Wow! You made the sail from FLA to DC look easy? After riding the Gulf Stream for three days we are anchored in Beaufort NC waiting for a weather window to sail the outside around Cape Hatteras. The weather has been inconsistent but the fellow sailors we have met are consistently fun. Keep the videos coming.
Yeah, Robi and Meanwhile crew made it look easy 😆 A good test run to see if we’re gonna try the route aboard Ines. You can do it! The inside/ICW is a pleasant route too if you have the draft and mast height for it.
Great music! And I’ve said it before, you are such an awesome teacher, and so good with kids. AND…what would a video be without Robi reeling in three fish at once. 😂😎🥰
In Australia, the Police would stipulate that extra security would be required. The event organisers would then have the option to engage (hire) the Police or private security. However, depending on the nature of the security needed, the Police maybe the only option.
We observed plenty of private security for the event walking the docks and on land, which was why we started discussing the police presence on the water - would the event security even have the authority to keep regular boaters from navigating and anchoring near the event?
Thank you. I have a draft of 2 meters and air draft of 58 ft. This will be my first trip on the ICW so….. I am concerned about getting under all the bridges and not running a ground. I will spend the hurricane season in the Chesapeake. Presently enjoying your video in Beaufort at town dock. Thank you again for the information you provided me.
@causa507 With 2 meters you may bounce aground in some shallow spots at low tide in the Florida portion of the icw - and there is one fixed bridge in north Miami (the Julia Tuttle 56 feet) that you may not pass. But other than that, enjoy the adventures! Cheers!
I am only using the ICW to go around Cape Hatteras …… just like you showed in your video. Do you think, based on your recent passage on the ICW between Beaufort to The Chesapeake bay that I will have problems with depth? I am a boat with 2 meter draft and 59 ft air draft traveling on the ICW between Beaufort NC to Chesapeake Bay. I saw in your video that you just completed that passage and was looking for your feedback as to the depth of the water and height of the bridges along that short section. Was stopping for the night difficult. (Anchorages crowded?). I sailed in the Gulf Stream from west end Bahamas to Beaufort NC. It was very fast (3 knots of current) and without storms. But I want to try the ICW just for the experience. Thanks for sharing your experience on the ICW between Beaufort NC and Chesapeake Bay.
Ah ok, the sailboat that Robi travelled on was almost 2 meter draft - no problems taking the ‘inner’ portions of the route - Pungo River - Alligator River - Coinjock. There seems to be low power cables before the bridge if you try to go through Croatan Sound, so they did not try that way.
You can use stainless seizing wire in the swivel, mantus is the best... Also stainless. Gr8 supplies looks like you are heading to pooperone bay DR? Best hurricane hole imho.... Often, city police can moonlight for events as extra money, that and regular patrolling keeps the accident level down. It's way to caraZy for me there, glad you had a good adventure with friends!
The hurricane season sounds like it may be extra spicy this year - we’re headed somewhere very tucked away 😉 Indeed, seizing wire is definitely a good idea!
We have a police officer in our neighborhood on the weekends at night who sits in his squad car. He signs up for what is known as a “detail” some of these officers may be on a detail. The department gets paid for this service as well as the officers.
Yes, that seems normal - what was different in this case was the amount of police and their schedule, coinciding with the boat show - which also had private security on docks and land. I don’t remember anything like that when I visited Annapolis Boat Show, for example 😆
Depending on the event, sometimes the promotor is required to pay the off duty cops and sometimes they're required to pay the police dept directly for use of equipment and personell. Especially if the event is not part of the departments operating budget
I really enjoy and subscribe to your channel and I am a Petrean, you are the only channel out of the many that I follow that I do subscribe to. Up until now, all of my comments have been positive and supportive . I do realise that living the wild free life that you do, involves catching and preparing fish and that is fine and natural. But to film the catch, with a 'dagger' impaled through it's head and bleeding all over the cockpit with shouts of 'who fancies a little fresh sushi' is all a little bit insensitive, unnecessary and completely disrespectful to, the fish who died so that you can eat.
Thank you for your support and sorry that you found that insensitive. We hope that we don't make you feel that way at other times. I'm a pescatarian for ethical reasons (I only eat what we catch onboard) so I probably would not shout such a thing myself, however, Robi said it because he's truly excited to feed his wife and others. He meant what he said also - whenever we catch a fish he usually asks something like - 'how will we prepare this fish today'. We purposefully do not buy fish from grocery stores because large-scale fisheries are draining the oceans of life - which is definitely disrespectful to fish and wildlife. I'm always thankful to the fish that provide me nutrition and comfort, and while it's impossible to be truly 'nice' to the fish that you are killing, we believe that ikejime method - knife to the brain, is the fastest way to cause the least amount of suffering.
Great video!
Thank you!

We are so ready for the hull to get some proper protection!
🙌 Absolutely ready for it, thanks to TotalBoat!
I enjoed the music a lot and the editing was also good. Have fun you three.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it, and will do!
Another great video - love you guys.
Thank you ❤️

Your friends looked like they had a great time.
Nothing better than sharing good times!
It's nice seeing you guys live this lifestyle after all the struggles you went through. What a fun time. I'm jealous.
We’re always thankful to experience the good times! And love to share it with you.

Great episode.
👍
those oyster farms also serve as part of an ocean cleaning initiative, removing fertilizer run offs and preventing dead zones from forming.
Good point! It seems like a positive industry - win wins all around.

Robi catching and releasing LOTS of fish in this video haha
@@sailorama 🤗😂🥰😎❤️

What was the air draft of the sailboat you took thru the ICW? Thanks
Ines draws 5 feet 👍 edit: if air draft means height - mast reaches 55 feet.

Hooray for Total Boat. I hope next Precision Sails get you some new sails soon.
We’re sooo thankful - one step at a time ✌️

That’s interesting! Thanks for the info. We were happy to see them keeping a close eye on speeding jetskis around the event, in any case.
