You might be able to get around the leaves overtaking shrubs issue by using the torch next to a sapling trick. It's usually used for growing taller trees. Basically a tree won't spawn leaves down low if there's a torch pointing at the tree trunk.
As far as I know, the oak sapling rule is still that any partial or non-solid block (torch, fence post, slab, glass block, etc. but excluding leaves) placed above the y-level relative to the sapling and diagonally adjacent will force the sapling to grow a large variant oak tree. Xisuma did a video explaining this (for y+1, but +2 also works) several years ago, but I don't recall any updates nerfing that mechanic; it's sometimes been a core mechanic for some adventure maps and mods, like the old Garden of Glass skyblock map for Botania. For those thinking it's ok to break a block so long as you replace it, the point is that the seekers will actually have an ability to find the eggs without having to disassemble their bases to find them.
This. If you could break a block and replace it, you could just find a one block hole in a wall and place it there and nobody would ever find it because it's a closed space.
literally every single egg he hid is visible without breaking a block tho. he even goes out of his way to make sure he can still see it after he's done hiding it
You could build a machine that replaces the blocks around the trees with something that doesn't turn into podzol, and then after you've grown them, it switches them back
idea for tree farm: on the area with the lake, remove the stone that holds back the water and have it flow down below the farm as not to spill out but to make a mini water wall.
for the tree farm floor you could use blocks like green concrete powder and even put moss carpet on top of you want to because podzol does not spread to carpet
Oof! Lightning rods... Lightning rods will prevent your villagers turning into witches. I think what happened was the other one got weakened by splash poison, then a random sweeping swing (because it can happen normally without the enchantment) had the misfortune of taking place. You got really unlucky there, but now that you've seen first hand what can happen, you'll be better prepared going forward. You got this!
btw im pretty sure that ur not allowed to break any blockswhile ur hiding the eggs, e.g breaking blocks to get to an air gap , so a few of yours kinda broke the rules. BTW if i got the wrong end of the stick please don't be anoyed, im just trting to help.
Yet another great interaction with stress lol. I'm seeing a lot of comments saying you broke the rules for the eggs, but since all of them are visible It shouldn't be too much of a problem? either way you should probably ask jevin just to confirm. Great video!
It's not being able to see it but being able to get to it so they can retrieve the egg without breaking blocks. Like the one where he broke the floor to hide the egg under the chest in Joe's base, that isn't allowed. But False's egg is in a spot behind it where you can reach it without breaking blocks. :)
I see what you guys are saying, but I'm trying to say he should just ask and see if its a problem, instead of everyone complaining when we're not really sure. if he asks, we dont have to guess.
green concrete powder is a decent replacement for grass, green wool blocks/green carpet also works pretty well. its still my go-to for covering over light sources in grassy areas

I want to see the "Iskall flies away" situation from Stress' perspective so bad, can't wait for her video.
Aye mate, I want to tell you that Jesus Christ loves you. He died for you so your sins can be forgiven and rose up from the dead so you can have everlasting life. Repent and believe in Him. He's willing to give you victorious life. God bless you and I wish you all the best
@@towarzyszkarp hey man, i know you probably have the best of intentions, but no one really likes irrelevant comments
10:00 Maybe you can take a page out of your plastic fantastic book and use green or lime concrete powder for the floor (except for the 4 pieces of dirt the tree(s) grow on) to create the lush feeling.
11:25 Nvm you figured it out on your own. Smartskall.
I absolutely love your interactions with stress. you two have a good dinamic
"Cannot break blocks to hide eggs"
Iskall: Breaks blocks hiding every 🥚...
Personally, I would also just farm the podzol. It's really good if you're tying to make like a mulched flower bed or flower boxes that look like they have potting mix in them. Maybe you could sell it for builders?
Edit: Elephant monster? Cobra isn't it?
A podzol shop would be nice for landscapers/terraformers like Scar
Yeah. It's a cobra. I wasn't sure if he was joking.
Wasn't iskall the podsoil shop in season 7 during the turf wars? Lol or am I remebering wrong. Maybe it was beef.
@@DrkJazzmyne twas beef
@@DrkJazzmyne It was Beef.
Gotta love how you immediately break the rules of the egg hunt.
Iskall you could also put a waterfall in the side somewhere and then make it flow into waterlogged stairs and put it run through the garden
The best thing about season 9 so far: Iskall-Stress interaction overload ...of doom
The underwater section could be an area reminiscent of your season 6 starter base which was one of my all time favorites
I love the Iskall & Stress interactions they’re amazing! Love the titanic reference 🛥 🥀
"Not allowed to break blocks"
-> proceeds to break blocks in basically every base because he can't get to the hiding spot otherwise...
I loved hearing Iskall's laugh in this video, I think the Egg Hunt is a Brilliant Idea and I have loved seeing all the different types of eggs 😂 It's like a mini-me style man bun haha
*** Side note for Iskall (if you see this) - unfortunately I have been struggling with my health... And although things are slowly starting to improve, there are still some challenges days, and I wanted to say thank you. Your content has helped distract me from some intense pains and helped me through times when I felt lost and numb. I wish the best for you in these next few months and I look forward to seeing you defeat more vaults haha ✨ ***
I absolutely love the chemistry between iskall and stressmonster! :D
For the roof in your tree farm room, you could do an artificial night sky with light grey/black/grey glass blocks and end rods
So Bruno was struck by lightning. You need a lightning rod around there so they won't get struck by lightning and they get turned to witches.
Technically, I think the ground near him was struck, but lighting converts mobs in an area around the strike.
Eggskall: "some sort of elephant monster?!" Everyone: *facepalms*
R.I.P Bruno (lightning rods where introduced into the game for a reason) btw, love the dedication to lower the farm area with one block when you could as easily had raised the much smaller area infront of it by one... 😉
Wow, these comments are nuts! There was an alteration to the rules in Jevin's video where he said "If the egg is visible once it's placed, it's fine!" It's his game so he can change things as he wishes, so everyone should be fine! Check his video at 23:25 for the clip.
hey iskall i just wanted to say that I love you and your videos. you got me through quarantine and the summer following. i remember watching your videos on my phone with earbuds in as i worked out at home and it got me into Minecraft, which in turn, brought me closer to my friends even though we were all stuck at home. thank you.
For those thinking it's ok to break a block so long as you replace it, the point is that the seekers will actually have an ability to find the eggs without having to disassemble their bases to find them.
This. If you could break a block and replace it, you could just find a one block hole in a wall and place it there and nobody would ever find it because it's a closed space.
literally every single egg he hid is visible without breaking a block tho. he even goes out of his way to make sure he can still see it after he's done hiding it
@@Demogarose agreed
What if you use a piston
@@aarondogs1954 doesn't work with item frames
So far, every hermit loves the mini hermiteggs
Instructions: Don't break blocks
Iskall: Imma pretend I didn't see that
You could build a machine that replaces the blocks around the trees with something that doesn't turn into podzol, and then after you've grown them, it switches them back
The pure joy that all of you have towards your respective eggs makes me so happy!!!!!!
The time that goes into making those maps has to be insane
Yeah Jevins insane when it comes to grinding
Yeah but vintagebeef this season has been killing it.
idea for tree farm: on the area with the lake, remove the stone that holds back the water and have it flow down below the farm as not to spill out but to make a mini water wall.
Stress: tries every water evelator to hide the egg
Iskall: succeeds on first try
False tried as well XD
for the tree farm floor you could use blocks like green concrete powder and even put moss carpet on top of you want to because podzol does not spread to carpet
Jevin: Don't break blocks
Iskall: well... Rules are there to break them...
jk lol
Yet another great interaction with stress lol. I'm seeing a lot of comments saying you broke the rules for the eggs, but since all of them are visible It shouldn't be too much of a problem? either way you should probably ask jevin just to confirm. Great video!
Finally someone who isn't commenting "ohh you broke blocks that's not fair blah blah blah"
But you have to be able to get to the egg by not breaking blocks. So if other hermits follow the instructions they will never find the eggs
It literally says "cannot break block to hide egg" in the book.
everytime iskall & stress hang out i can’t stop laughing, it’s beautiful
I love the Egg Hunt event. Everyone was having so much fun. I like Iskall's pure joy in hiding everything.
I love how Iskall was so eggstremly happy about his egg😂
The eggs are so cute, and love the hermits reaction,😊😊
rules say you cant break blocks to hide eggs...iskall..hold my beer
Why is the eggskall hiding in BdoubleO's armor the funniest thing I've ever seen lol?
That was brilliant!
green concrete powder is a decent replacement for grass, green wool blocks/green carpet also works pretty well. its still my go-to for covering over light sources in grassy areas
I’m loving how the tree area actually looks kinda like a swamp lol
Jevin: NO breaking blocks.
Iskall: Breaking all the blocks to get to places otherwise impossible to reach
Jevin:
srsly tho I love your content! Especially when you do stuff with Stress!
Sure, a melon stem doesn't count as a block, but glass does, right? You did break glass to get in there
type(Glass) == Block
Thanks for the clarification in your stream about this being allowed!
For the man made forest thing, you should make it a more like a cartoonish style with moss carpet, lime wool, green wool, concrete, terracostta. In my opinion that would look really cool. (Edit: A lot of likes 😯)
Iskall the #1 rule of UA-cam and especially Hermitcraft is to never trust your viewers to keep a secret
Iskall with the mini egg on his head - Russian Nesting Eggskall. Honestly though, as far as custom textures for blocks, the mini eggs was a genius move for Jevin and the fact they look like that when worn is amazing!
Iskall and Stress are possibly the BEST duo in the MC world and a guaranteed time for laughing to the point or crying. Love you both!
The titanic moment nearly made me choke on my dinner! 🤣
Idk all you are one of the greatest content creators out there thanks for what you do!!!
The odds of your villager turning into a witch is literally equal to being hit by lightning
because it gets hit by lightning
That is not true your villagers are often trapped and they cannot move but the player is always on the the move if not afk
For the podsol problem, all you need to do is surround the tree sapling in stone and cover the stone in moss carpets
Lowering the floor looks so much better. Worth it!
