Think Shirly Bassy 80 plus and Petula Clark celebrating her 90th birthday last Non on stage as the Flower Lady in Mary Poppins. Loved Judy ever since hearing her record of "Both Sides Now"

Judy Collins in the late 1950's & 1960's was a fabulous folk ballad singer. I still listen to "Golden Apples of the Sun" from early 1960's. She knows so well how to frame a song so it sings itself and tells the story contained in it. I am 83 and a ballad singer and I know that anyone who uses their voice and continues to work with it can do the same. We don't all have her talent, but nobody needs stop singing because they think they are too old. Thank you Judy for being such an inspiration and may you continue to sing forever. I am a neighbor of another fabulous singer in her nineties-the blues and folk singer, Barbara Dane, who has recently put out an album with her Cuban son. Here's to tradition and continuity. Oh- and don't forget the wonderful Peggy Seeger also
in her eighties and still singing. And then there is Martin Carthy and so on and on and on. Mazeltov!

Beautiful words, and you bring to mind the brilliant and near-prophetic Malvina Reynolds, who probably started singing from the 40s, and as a white-haired, wrinkled woman with a creaky but very well-tuned voice (and guitar, too) was in her prime in the 60s (!) as an icon of poetry in song, a master of social commentary. Almost all the other icons actually covered her! God bless the grass, Little Boxes....

and course Frank Hamilton in his eighties, singing, running two folk schools, inspiring others and there is a wonderful PBS special about him now...thanks for remembering Barbara, Peggy, their albums are great and out there and a revelation if you love folk music or music in general...some late bloomers have a slight variation of voices perhaps but there is so much more in the music which is, after all, storytelling...as does Judy who is all about love and has brought so much beauty and healing to this world...

I’m a big Judy Collins fan. As a teen I saw her at planting fields under the stars with my mother. This concert is forever in my memory as a special night. My mother passed away this year and that memory of us under the stars listening to an Angel sing I will have forever. Judy is one of the few that has kept her gift. When I’m sad I sing along and I’m back in time. Listening to this concert time doesn’t exist. The music does.

I was 16 when I first heard my first Judy Collins record--her first album picked from a thrift shop in the Philippines. I was hooked! And i learned to play the guitar from listening to her records!!! Many many years later, I would write her (I got her office address from one of her albums), to express my admiration for her music--and she wrote me back, with a personally-autographed photo and a concert program! What a kind, generous soul! I will, forever be, a lifelong fan!

Judy Collins has always left me Spellbound since first encountering her in the '60s. I have been blessed to hear her in concert three times in three different decades. Maybe the most memorable was my front row seat at the 150th celebration of the Womens Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, NY. She touches each one present. How fortunate for us that she remains among us spinning out her Magick. Bless you on and on and on, Good Soul.

It’s a wonderful feeling to see an older, gifted singer still with strength and vigor to bring us into her world of 1956.
So many of our musicians, and many other artists of all kinds have passed so early with such severe health problems that it saddens the world with its loss.
    Thank you God for her.

Back when people respected honesty and clarity, we were listening to those protest songs by Judy and Joan, those who survived the pressure; Back then producers used to say, "If you can't make your point with one guitar and a microphone, you have no point to MAKE! Now, they say" anything goes for the money!" ANYTHING! Wait 'til the grid goes and people have to communicate more "personally" again? Us old hippies and the Amish will have it altogether! IF people could "slow their pressured lives down" and actually "listen" again, without having to be BLASTED by electronics? The lack of "strong drugs" might have helped too! She and Joan Baez are both still going strong! FORGET the guitar! Judy Collins could sing acapella and keep the crowd amazed! Besides, it's the CAPO she's using that causes the strings to loosen, requiring adjustments. The time that talent becomes how loudly one can scream into a microphone while disrobing for views, will soon dissipate, and quality will survive. Judy could have used her voice range to become a famous opera singer-but she kept to her standards. Love to hear her " Amazing Graze" over and over. "With Judy Collins & Joan Baez in Mind, "Why War?" "Time Goes By" and "Praying for Afghanistan"& "The Great Awakening.
"With Judy Collins & Joan Baez in Mind-Why War? "

I heard you last night in Ft Lauderdale and was moved to tears. Now 86 and still doing live one woman shows for an hour and a half, no breaks, nailing every high nite, as gracious as ever. I had the honor and privilege to sing back up at many of your Christmas shows at the Birchmere in Alexandria VA with the Georgetown Chorale. Thank you for being such a musical treasure.

Rediscovered Judy this year when l retired and had time to sit and listen to music more. Recently bought Spellbound, a great album, and tune into You Tube for other performances Judy has done. She sounds so well in her mature years. Going to see her in Leeds later this year

Timeless, beautiful and expressive voice. Saw her in concert in Bermuda in the mid 90s and she still sounds fabulous. The interpretation is always moving, it’s never just a melody. One of my top female singers alongside Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon…but Judith Durham will always be my #1!

Judy still has that beautiful distinctive voice, even at the age of 83. She plays piano as well as 60 years ago and I was hoping to enjoy more of her playing. Her own compositions such as "My Father" & "Secret Gardens" would have also been wonderful to hear. I look forward to hearing more of Spellbound.

I just heard an interview with her on the radio and she sounds fantastic!
I’m in my 60s and the first time I heard Judy Collins. I was in my early teens with her version. “Amazing Grace”!

Judy was my great musical love of the late 60s and throughout the 70s. I saw her twice, I think, at the Royal Albert Hall. The last time I saw her live was in, of all places, Southport, Lancashire in 1980 or '81. It was the most magical evening. The highlight for me was her beautiful rendition of 'The Rose'.

This just shows what a great musician she is. When one loves what they do, it shows, because it becomes who they are more than what they do. Judy Collins was always a favorite of my father's, and now she's also a favorite of mine.
