    It seems you just said to connect the blue wire to battery +12v and then to ground - shorting the battery to ground. Not good!

    It nice that you kept it simple but was hard to focus because the camera was so shakey..thank you though. I'm having the oil temp issue on my son's quad right now

    The ATV system supplies power to the fan, the only thing that turns the fan on and off is the bimetallic strip in the temp probe that when heated closes the curcuit to ground allowing fan to work.

    I ran my fan to a toggle switch so I can always keep the quad running cool

    I’m not understanding putting power to that wire and grounding it, do I put hot power to the blue wire ?

    The thermosensor just needs ground, no power. You don't even have to unplug it, just slip the rubber connector cover back and alligator clip to ground, turn on the key. If no fan still, try wiggling the connectors at the control box before replacing

    So if i am following...when i run the jumper to by-pass the temp sensor and the fan turns on, then it is the temp sensor? If it does not turn on, it could still be the temp sensor but I should then test the fan control switch? Should i test the fan control switch with the jumper on or put the original wires back together? In your opinion, if my temp sensor light never comes on, even when it is really hot, would that indicate the temp sensor has failed? (I have a 2007 Honda 400 Fourtrax Rancher)

    I have 02 and if I give power to blue wire my fan turns on but I don’t gotta ground anything to get it to power on but if I got up to fan wire and give fan power it don’t kick on so its opposite of what your saying.

      Make sure the ground wire coming from the fan is grounded, and take the positive wire from the fan connect it to a toggle switch then run a hot wire from the battery to the toggle switch.

    You ran the black wire to the battery and the red wire to ground! You will shorted out the battery by doing this!

    • @terrybartruff9460

      The color of the wire doesn’t matter when it’s just a jumper wire.

    • @XJ550CAFE
      @XJ550CAFE 3 роки тому +7

      @@terrybartruff9460 The color does not mater but you said " connect it to the battery to get power" then you said "connect the other jumper to ground to complete the circuit". If one jumper is on the battery positive and then you clip another lead on to it and connect its other end to ground, you are going to melt the wire lead. I dont know, but just guessing, the temp switch probably closes the ground side of the circuit when it reaches temp. So, if the blue wire is the ground side, connecting the blue wire alone to ground should energize the fan if the rest of the circuit is good, that is if the blue wire is the ground wire going to the switch.
