    Well done to Marco and all the team at Mark Bass for a great collaboration with one of the coolest cats in the business! Amazing clarity and a wonderful array of tonal features on the amp without being over complicated

    Great thing he keeps pioneering for new bass tools. Especially the ultra affordable Sire basses which are pretty good. But his '77 jazz through EBS sounds superior to me. Ofcourse any bass in his hands will sound good.

    Im happy to see Marcus play this bass himself. It sounds great cause Marcus is playing it. Now it confirms that inspite of all the hype it is not in any way a Fender Jazz.

    Sire MM bases are the TRUTH! I own 2 and compared to the other brands I’ve owned like Fender, (I still own a Fender Elite) Sadowsky, Xotic they do not disappoint! You can spend 3 grand on other Jazz basses if you like (I did) but that’s all you will be doing!

    Love Marcus, but the "old school" button seems like a tone knob to me... just turns the treble down a bit... doesn't seem like some great new tech or anything

    Soooo, what happened to the EBS affiliation? That's the rig which set him apart from all the others, dialed into his Fender JB MM signature axe. It's really hard to tell here for sure, but at first blush, this foray into Mark Bass does not offer a better illustration of the Gold standard sound he set for bassists, and for which he is world renowned. 👑🎸🎵

    What's up y'all what's happening what's good. Remember what he said don't use the Miller Riser unless you got your own band keep that in mind . Many make the mistake to think they can do solo base yet they play in the band and screw with the sound of the entire band. If you don't got your own band you don't use the Miller riser that's how it is and he even told you that..

  • @gimmeagig

    This really mystifys me.Maybe it's a bad recording but to me this setup doesn't sound good compared to his Fender and the EBS gear. From this demo I would never buy a Sire bass or a MarkBass amp. I do have two Mark Bass LM II amps and I get them to sound much better that this I also have a EBS HD350 amp and it also sounds much better than this Mark Bass amp.I have also heard Sire vintage basses that sound much better than the bass in this demo. I don't know what Marcus is thinking, maybe he's just looking for a new sound,
    I don't know why he would. he's had the best bass sound there is for many decades. Seems like he's messing up a good thing.

    • @MarkGerardBottomLine
      @MarkGerardBottomLine 6 років тому

      Agreed..I got lots of negative and some positive replys regarding this above..His bass and amp choice hurt his bottom end and helped the 2 companies bottom line..Maybe he wants to retire his bass signature tone..

    Markcus is king, but I don't get these endorsements. He also did a SWR preamp thing and the Sire basses (which is cool n stuff) But in the end he (for as far as I know) he always seems to play his EBS rigs and his beloved Fender signatures.

      Niels Kockelmann the Fenders don't hold candle tonewise to the Sires, I have both...trust me on this. Marcus is his own man and can play and DOES play whatever he pleases.

    • @ericwilhelm2941
      @ericwilhelm2941 6 років тому

      Niels Kockelmann , i saw Marcus walk right by his Fender replica (i assume ) after his tech spent 4 !! minutes tuning it , picking up the Sire and played it the whole set . And his amp and cabinet had no name on it . was over a year ago at Freedom Hill Mi. The Man could play through a Roland keyboard cabinet and he would kill . its in the hands and his Soul .

      I begged the differ... I have both and the Sire is a good Bass for the money but it isn't anywhere even close to my REAL 74 Fender Jazz nor my AVRI 75 Fender Jazz, however I do enjoy playing the Sire Bass.

    The MB Little Marcus IS a great amp. This is a very bad recording! Can’t you hear that?
    EBS is great but so is Markbass. Don’t understand all those negative reactions.
    Of course it’s a commercial thing. But hey, MM wouldn’t play it if he didn’t like the sound of it.

  • @justMe-rd4sw

    Sire are just another company blowing the designer brands myth out of the water. These big companies shouldnt have been so greedy. In the past year I've had 3 new fenders and they have all had build faults. Don't get me wrong, I love fender , but technology has moved on, and it's plain fact that quality products don't have to cost 1000's , and just look at the Gibson mess to see what can happen. And the production sound of this video is rubbish , it'd make Ella Fitzgerald sound like Tom Waits.

    With all due respect, Marcus is one of my heroes, but but no way does this "affordable" brand do his sound any good. Do yourselves a favor - if you wanna sound like MM buy a used EBS TD650/660 or a Fafner, alternatively a HD 350/360.

    I have a lot of respect to Marcus Miller he is one of the greatest, but that bass doesn't convince me, I'm sorry I know is all about marketing but close but no cigar, my honest opinion.

    • @MarkGerardBottomLine

      I agree...I was getting hammered when I mentioned that MM's tone isn't as good as years past, due to cheesy sounding bass and different amp...

      The Bottom Line w/Mark Gerard this is a bad recording...I play and endorse Sire basses and I guarantee you that its not a fluke.there are $6000 basses out there that don't cut it as well.checkout my UA-cam channel

    I really don't think Marcus will be on the road playing through this gear! From listening to his interviews seems the goal was to come out with a low cost bass to target beginner bass players. IMO I don't think he's pushing this bass to be anything more than that. If this bass does well a good business move would be to come out with a high end model.

  • @MarkGerardBottomLine
    @MarkGerardBottomLine 6 років тому +17

    Seriously folks!!! MM endorsing Sire bass and MarkBass products are hurting his tone...Playing great, but his beefy signature tone has been taken away..His U.S. Fender bass with EBS amps are the true expression of his remarkable playing..

  • @edennard1
    @edennard1 6 років тому

    I guess.. . I get collecting all the endorsements that you can, especially if that company is going to write you out a check for a handsome amount.. with that being said and with all due respect this tone of what I'm hearing currently isn't remotely close to the gut wrenching SWR/EBS tone that most of us had become accustomed to hearing from Mr. Miller.. at least for me.
