- Trail riding at Ando's Dirtbike Events trail ride at the Langfords farm, Takaka
Heavy rain the night before made for a slippery start and some good mud bogs, but most of the track dried out in the sun and conditions were perfect.
This is our third lap of the main loop.
Riders this lap:
Ben - KTM 350 XCF
Seb (age 10) - KTM 65 SX
Finn (age 8) - KTM 65 SX

Totally awesome riding there gents, your young fellas riding skills are perfect, very controlled and relaxed what a cool place to have a ride out. wish I had half their ability, Enjoy those happy days and greetings from Nelson. cheers Mat
Cheers Mat. We have some great times out riding and its so cool to see their skills improve the more we do.
I love your vids, when I’m bored I watch dirt bikes and when I typed “dirt bike trail riding” I saw you and know I love watching you it makes me entertained. Great job keep up the good work man
Glad you like the videos Brayden. We have a lot of fun out riding and its nice to be able to share it so others can see it too.
Looks like a cool ride mate!!
Yeah, the boys and I really enjoyed it!
They're getting faster !!
Won't be long till I'm left behind!
Hey man what do you use to video, and how do you get rid of the wind noise??
We use a GoPro Hero 9 Black. I haven't done anything for wind noise reduction, just have the GoPro wind noise reduction set to auto. I do have it mounted under my peak which may help keep it out of the wind a bit.
Great video i enjoy watching kids riding! my boy is 6 and riding around on a honda Qr 50 mates got a kx 65 sitting about what age u reckon he would suit that
Cheers
Hi Michael. Glad you liked watching. The step up from a QR50 to a KX65 is pretty big and the 65cc motocross bikes are pretty angry wee machines. My kids started on JR50's (similar to the QR50) from about 3-5yrs, then on to a TTR50 around 5-6yrs, then a TTR110 from 6-7yrs before moving on to the KTM 65's just after 7. They are both pretty tall which helped too.
Hi , I live in Motueka can I do this ride with my son ?
Thank you . Mike
thanks to travis and family for putting this on
Yep, it was a great ride and we are lucky to have Travis giving a lot of support for dirt bike riding in the top of the south.
Hi Ben, been watching your vids for a bit now- Really enjoy your uploads! Thanks for sharing your Moto/trail adventures.
May I ask about your fodsports? Would you buy again? what intercom distance do you get with your kids in open terrain? i’ve been looking at the Sena 10r low profile as they say up to 900m range in open terrain BUT! i’ve read they often fall way short of that quoted distance. also the sena Only 3.0 Bluetooth connectivity- maybe that contributes to some users poor intercom experience. Are the fodsports pretty good??
thanks in advance for your time! Also i forgot to mention. the sena 10r pair kits is $700. Might see you at the hawardon ride in July!
Hi Steve. Glad you enjoy the vids. The Fodsports intercoms are great for what we need and I'd buy them again. They're only about $100 NZD per headset so less than a third of the price of the Sena. Range is a hard one to specify. It's really more about line of sight. Basically if I can see the kids I can talk to them. If they go way ahead over a hill or round the side of a hill they will start to drop out. Usually they will reconnect automatically but sometimes you have to fiddle around with the buttons to reconnect. I've never actually measured out the actual distance we can get in open terrain - I don't ever remember being able to see them but not talk to them.
One thing to note is the noise cancellation of engine sounds works up to a point, but once the revs get up and the throttle is wide open then I can hear the kids bikes through the intercom and likewise they can hear when I am wide open trying to catch up to them! My brother uses a Sena on his KTM 890 adventure bike and tells me his mates can hear his bike when he's on the gas too, so I don't think its unique to the Fodsports intercom.
I've never tried a Sena to compare but the Fodsports M1S-Pro works well for us.
@@bentowse thanks for your insight! Ill order
up a pair and try them out.
No worries. I paid just over $300 NZD incl GST and shipping from AliExpress for our 3 head sets.
We're hoping to come down for Harwarden - its a great ride!
@@bentowse good value then. Might see you there! Keep an eye out for a black Raptor in the trailer park
