- Why take the car for a day trip and not the Airstream? We could only think of good reasons today to bring the touring motor coach. Got any other top benefits?
I just picked up my 2024 Interstate GL E1 AWD at the beginning of December. I only slept in it 1 night before winterizing the plumbing system. I still drive it around and it's a great van. I'm looking forward to the weather warming up so I can use the full capabilities of the plumbing.

I have a 2020 Interstate GT Ext 4WD and I love it. I live in Montgomery AL and make frequent day and weekend trips to Nashville TN and Atlanta GA to visit friends and family. I agree. You can't beat the comfort and convenience. I am considering upgrading my suspension mostly for the sway due to wind and big trucks on the highway. I've seen a lot of videos from haters of the Merc Sprinter vans. Glad to see positive comments from other owners who appreciate both Airstreams and Merc Sprinter vans.
So glad you have had a positive experience too. I don’t know if the AWD 2023 chassis we have is any more stable in wind/truck sway - but we haven’t noticed much of a challenge. Although we tend to stick to US Highways .. a little ironic considering the unit is called Interstate, but we do prefer the back roads so we can stop and get sidetracked in antique stores, distilleries, and places that sell confectionery 😂

The AWD model is the new 2023 Chassis option from Mercedes, as they retired the 4WD. My basic summary from owning many 4WD and AWD vehicles over the years is that AWD in Mercedes implementation is like 4WD being operated by a very capable human. Might not be as good as say the best drivers ever going on an adventure course, but it will be the 98% capable you need to get through anything that is safe enough to bring a $300k camper!
From a purely technical standpoint: the Sprinter AWD's all-wheel-drive system can constantly vary the torque going to the front or rear axles, distributing as much as 100 percent of the drive to either set of wheels, depending on the available traction. The old 4WD system had a fixed 33/67-percent front/rear torque split.
