Just a few miles from my home. Imagine growing up and living there for a lifetime. We appreciate them. The family that owns Shady Maple is the Weaver family. They are Mennonites, very close to Amish. One thing to remember about PA Dutch, Mennonite, and Amish, they do not usually use a lot of spices. We are pretty much just salt and pepper people.
I always get the pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes. Yum. Thanks for sharing this.

The land around there was always primarily owned by the same families for hundreds of years: Weavers, Goods, Peachey, Shenk, and a few more. If you drive around there, you will see Weaverland Mennonite Church and Weaverland Rd. The families are Godly, hard-working people. It is a wonderful place to live and visit.

Mennonite. Thank you for saying it’s not amish right away. We live right down the road from here and soooo many people just automatically think amish. Finally a UA-cam channel that went there and don’t just say Amish.

Wow, this video REALLY shows the food at this place. I've seen other videos for this buffet, but they didn't go around showing all the food stations. The guy is one tough food critic! but I like that because it's honest and informative. Good job!

Also, at McDonald's or Wendy's and other fast food places, they ask you to donate a dollar or your ask you to round up your change to their charities ( Ronald McDonald's house, or Wendy's adoption program). They take your donation and they profit by your donation. By the restaurant donating your money, then getting a TAX CREDIT TO THEIR COMPANY ( FOR YOUR MONEY NOT THEIR OWN). PLEASEGIVE TO ST JUDE OR ANOTHER WORTHY CAUSE. TY

I took a trip to the Lancaster area almost solely for this place back in 2021. One of the best buffets I've ever been to - I had Thursday dinner and breakfast the next morning, and both were fantastic .

I don't know which is better -- seeing all of that Amish Comfort Food, or watching your enthusiasm when you are eating it. My Grandfather was old school Amish -- a Hershberger from Walnut Creek OH. I still have many relatives there but it's difficult to keep in touch with them.

If you are ever in Palm springs go to the agua caliente casino, it's big too. But this one is quite a bit bigger. Amazing. Eating is a sport here.

Can't beat Shady Maples. You did a great job showing everything. Gift shop is very nice as well. Really liked Bobbie's Janis Joplin shirt. Two I wish I would have seen live were Janis and Elvis. There is a very nice store across the parking lot that has lots of goods and a grocery store as well. You could spend a whole day eating and shopping. Great job as usual!

We love Shady Maple. Only about a half hour drive from our home. The best food ever. We go several times a year as a treat for us. I also love the ham balls and buttered noodles and the roast beef. Thanks for sharing.

Seapak shrimp is a horrible product. The fried shrimp at Shady Maple are 10 times better. As a matter of fact seapak shrimp and other products are so bad that I called them on the phone and told them how horrible their product was. And if you go on the internet the reviews are almost all negative.
I have always enjoyed them. I have a box now and really like the scampi ones. Everyone has different taste I guess. The ones at Shady Maple I enjoyed especially the grilled ones. They were very good. That’s for comment Jeff as always appreciate it.😎😎
@@jbinthehills A couple months ago I got the so cold jumbo fried shrimp from seapak and I was so disappointed, picked the breading off of 2 of the shrimp and the shrimp were so tiny. I never had the shrimp scampi maybe that's better. I just don't like really tiny shrimp. I usually just buy a 2lb bag of wild-caught jumbo shrimp and make my own fried shrimp or my own boiled shrimp or my own shrimp scampi.
Years ago probably going back to the early 2000s late 1990s down in the gift shop they use to have a restaurant down there to the restaurant was an all you could eat salad bar and baked potato bar I forget when they to that out though

Loved Bobbies plate the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, Brussel sprouts asparagus and the chicken stuffed with broccoli. John's plate I love cause you have the grilled and fried shrimp my favorite, of course the pulled pork, ham balls, ham. Love! Bobbie's second round salad!!! John's second round prime rib, corn salad, the Amish macaroni salad with the pulled pork YUM. noodles, cucumber and onions great summer salad. Bobbie love the ice cream cake! Gain weight just looking at that good stuff when I do the amish runs during the week taking them to and from work some of the amish I pick up live about 5 minutes from the shady maple the one guy lives right along rt 322 about halfway between the shady maple and September farms

Sad but when tipping becomes mandatory as this service fee is which is just another way of saying tipping is required I get up and leave without ordering a thing. Its the customers decision whether to tip or not, it is NOT managements decision to make.

I looked it up on Google, Shady Maples is 8 hours and 54 minutes from Knoxville. Thinking on planning a road trip just to eat!!😅
If you drive all the way to Shady Maple Buffet from Tennessee plan a trip around it there's a lot more to see. That area is also the Amish Country so that in itself it's a nice place to visit.
So much more to do make sure to spend a few days in this area. Hope you have fun😎😎
I want to go here! I think we will plan our next vacation for here. I lived in Carlisle for four years when I was a kid. My dad was stationed there but my parents were never ones to go out exploring. So I missed a lot of stuff. Same when we were in Germany. We didn’t get to do anything.

I live like half hour from shady maple and i love going there but me and my wife will go to yoders buffet more often because its cheaper and not as full. Same type of food but not as much. And its only like 1 mile away from shady.

Are there any hotels/motels in the area? If someone is coming from out of town on a road trip, where would they stay? Is there much to do in that area besides eating at the restaurant?
We never stay in this area. We stay in the Lancaster area a little drive away. The area we stay in is an Amish tourist area with a must do Sight and Sound Theater. Look it up it’s amazing. A lot of Amish tours and Hershey Pa is not real far away. We love the Steamboat Hotel in Ronks Pa but kinda expensive. They also have a scenic Railroad in Strasburg Pa. We have over 40 videos from this area to show you everything in the Amish Country. Hope you have fun if you go😎😎

If I'm correct, Yoders in Ohio that we have a video is an Amish Buffet. Katie's Kitchen is Amish Run and Amish food, but they have no buffet. The Amish Barn in Lancaster is also Amish Run but is just BBQ. Most are PA Dutch food but not made by or owned by the Amish.😎😎

For the past few weeks here in eastern Pennsylvania we have been getting the most delicious watermelon. I love watermelon I've been eating it almost everyday. I also love asparagus and brussel sprouts but I don't want crunchy for me to have to be cooked all the way through to perfection. 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻

This place is even bigger than some of the bigger buffets I have visited in Las Vegas. If it wasn't a 670 mile drive from my home in Indiana, I would be heading that way just to try the place. John the first time you said cabasa and the second time you said kabasi. My mother was polish and we always called it kabasi. We get good kabasi in Pennsylvania since there are a lot of Polish people. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
That’s one of those words that I have heard pronounced so many different ways. Just like Lancaster Pa and gyro that gets pronounced different by where you live. I pronounce these words different almost every time. On UA-cam you get so many comments saying you say it wrong. It’s all where you live and used to hearing. The correct pronunciation is with the a sound at the end of it. But I pronounce it more like your Mom said it. Thanks Jeff as always😎😎
@@jbinthehills I wasn't complaining I just found it funny I've heard it pronounced cabasa but in Eastern Pennsylvania most people say kabasi. I watch a lot of videos of British people traveling through the United States and they pronounce dozens of our words incorrectly like taco and Herb and Cactus and many others they say them completely different. And they call the ground outside the floor. Where Americans call the inside the floor and outside we caught the ground but the British call the inside the floor and they call the outside the floor which makes no sense to me whatsoever. 😂😂
I know it’s just so funny how words are pronounced so different. I know you weren’t complaining my friend. Lancaster here in West Virginia we say it like it looks it that area it’s said like Lang-Kister. We try our best to say it right. It’s just so crazy like you just said. Makes no sense which is right. You are right and I was smiling and nodding - thinking yep! Not what you expect from this place! He is spot on with the review. We lived in the area many years ago and loved it but it has changed - no more home cooking. Mostly frozen/canned foods now. I miss the old cooking! When we go back to visit, we tried it a few times and wow, it has changed and not for the better. The only thing I still loved was the roast beef and the cucumber salad. For dessert, I will get the apple crisp or coconut creme pie. Again, so sad because back in the day, that place had the fresh and tasty Pa. Dutch food!
You know most items were average. I still think it’s a great deal for all those choices and we still like going. I loved the grilled shrimp and Ham Balls. Would have gotten more of that if not filming this and trying to show more items. Disappointed in the Desserts this time but they still were ok. Loved the Chocolate Eclair one. I think the seafood buffet is the way to go if you like shrimp and fish. The breakfast deal for September can’t be beat for 9.99. Well worth that. I didn’t try the fried or marinated chicken so that might have made a difference in how I felt. Tried to be different in this trip in. Didn’t even get shoofly pie 😀Appreciate the comment 😎😎
