In January 2023, we went to Spooky Nook Sports Complex where we attended the Lancaster Archery Tournament for 3 days. We especially wanted to eat at Shady Maple Smorgasbord because a youTuber restaurant reviewer drove 8 hours from NYC just to record his eating experience there. I was so I impressed that I made a point of looking it up and pay SMS a visit. We also drove 8 hours from Toronto, Canada for the experience. I was not disappointed. We are looking forward to returning for another wonderful meal in January 2024. Thank you for bringing back fond memories.
My husband ordered a manual recliner on line from an Amish furniture company … he is 350 lbs and flings himself down into that chair…six years and its holding up beautifully…amazing craftsman, highly recommend
That is wonderful that your husband is still enjoying his Amish recliner! Their furniture is very story and good quality furniture! Also the Amish Buffett, etc..! Would love to visit in Amish country in Pennslyvania!👍🌻
Love seeing mom and Bonbon! Glad you got to visit and take us along with you! Tell them thank you for participating! But, we’re dying to know……who’s precious Ariel? Lol.
Thanks for this video. I'm from PA, but have moved. It really brought back memories. I took my kids there when they were little and we just ate ourselves silly. The whole Lancaster, PA is like going back in time. The Amish really know how to cook!! We visited Hershey and Dutch Wonderland all in the same day. It was great. Yes, please do more videos about your hometown. Really great to see!!
As a California native, your vlogs remind me so much of Huell Howser's California Gold. It was an old PBS show that aired decades ago. He was such an institution the Simpsons had him in an episode. Your vlogs show the same appreciation and joy to the little things that most people miss. Many thanks!
I’m 45 minutes from Shady Maple and have never left disappointed or hungry! Great to go on your birthday as well. Used to be Dutch Wonderland pass holders for years and have seen the place in decline in recent years. Would love your take on the new Hershey Park roller coaster! Welcome home Mr Morrow, hope your visit with family is a great one!
Dutch Wonderland (on Lincoln Hwy in Lancaster PA) was bought by Hershey. We were standing inside the store/office there when the ppl who managed the place, which includes Old Millstream Campground, got the pho call from the original owner saying that Hershey inquired about buying it. We camped there for 7yrs everytime we went to PA, but not since Hershey owns it. It was always a fun place to stay at & have camp fires & has very clean & very nice bathrooms w/showers.!! There's a corn field on the side where the tents are. There's tent sites in other areas there also. HA, the Amish dairy farmer's cows 🐄 sometimes stand in the stream 😄 😂 on hot, hot days just looking around towards the campers. Ya gotta love it 😅
@@janethompson2305Hershey actually doesn’t own Dutch Wonderland anymore either! They sold it to Palace Entertainment in 2010 and that’s who still owns it

Lmao the Amish do take pride in their gardening and farming skills. That was a huge carrot!! 😮 I have to agree. This is a cool video, you make it fun to watch
Just know they have another food set up further back incase it is too crowded. And they have areas they cook steak and fish on the side. Go with an empty stomach
@@PagingMrMorrow hello friend I live only 10 mins from Lancaster county as I live in Middletown, Pa. Thankyou for giving central Pa some love! I love watching and learning from your videos
Isn’t it wonderful there is a world where there are honesty boxes when purchasing produce and look like they are not abused. Amazing food and love the food stands♥️
Not sure why I clicked on this video. But there was something comforting and soothing about you hanging out with your family and eating at a buffet. Very nice.
Thank You for taking the time to create and share this wonderful video with us all! Here in Palm Springs the closet thing we have to a buffet is at the Casino 50 miles away! You are all very lucky!!!

Going to Shady Maple, visiting their huge giftshop, and going nextdoor to Good's store were always must-do 's for us when we visited Lancaster. Is Ariele your sister's daughter? She's so cute and a lucky little girl to be a part of such a loving family.
I first went to a smorgasbord in Highspire, outside Harrisburg, in 1965. I was 11 and had only been in a few restaurants at that point. I was dumbfounded by the amount of food available because my own parents were very frugal. I still love buffets, and if I ever return to Pennsylvania, Shady Maple will be on my list of places to visit.
Hi Nate I’m a huge fan of your videos they are fantastic. My sister lives in PA and I remember her taking my mom and I to this all you can eat buffet and it is absolutely incredible. The food is fresh and delicious! Thank you for the amazing videos
I love it when you visit Lancaster! That is where I grew up and it always makes me nostalgic to see the videos. There was an Amish farm stand on Route 30, East of the outlets that had the BEST peanut butter cookies. I am not usually one to even like peanut butter cookies, but these were so soft and delicious. Amish baked goods are the best. So delicious, and so much more affordable than the city bakeries!
I’m from Delaware and we would travel to Lancaster! Often. Beautiful country and Shady Maple is a great place to eat. This video reminded me of home, Thanks for sharing this!
We live less than an hour from the restaurant! My mom, my aunt and I go for breakfast sometimes, and it is to die for! I hope to get the chance to meet you there one day Mr. Morrow, I watch your videos all the time!
I just love these kinds of videos. I don’t know why, but I do. I really love Nate’s enthusiasm for the little things. I strive to be as present in my day to day life as he is. Keep doing these types of videos. They are like a warm blanket!
I used to live in Blue Ball PA where Shady Maple is located. I worked at the Getty Mart convenience store and people would stop there all the time for directions to Shady Maple. I miss whoopie pies, Achenbachs long johns with peanut butter frosting, Tasti cakes, wet bottom sho fly pie and all the wonderful farm stands. The town of Blue Ball was named after the Blue Ball hotel that is no longer standing. Centuries ago when most people were illiterate they hung a large blue ball outside of the hotel to identify it as the hotel and the town grew up around it. It was great to see your mom and sister and niece (?) Maybe you could go on a factory tour of Hanover pretzel company while you're there. Thank you for the video, I like seeing my old stomping grounds.
I can relate to being excited seeing the Amish buggies, Nate. We're near the MN/WI border and we always get excited when we see one, too. Good to see your Mom and Bon-Bon are keeping well and happy. The food looks delicious!
Loved this video. Always love seeing Mom and Bonnie. We've visited Lancaster and Hershey before and loved it. It would be interesting to know about caves to explore and Gettysburg is also great. Wherever you visit and share is appreciated!
Crystal Cave is a fun outing with great tour guides! We went on one of the hottest days of last summer and it was so nice and chilly inside! And, they have the most reasonably priced gift shops anywhere!
I’m from PA, and I love seeing you share all the great things Pennsylvania has to offer in your videos. Especially with your mom and Bon Bon. Shady Maple is also our go to for free birthday meals, and of course shopping in the huge downstairs gift shop! Lol ❤️

Hi Nate! Would love to see a vlog about your favorite home town food places. Love to see your mom and Bonnie! Your mom is the cutest lady, she seems like a sweetheart.
We live near Shady Maple!!! Absolutely ❤ eating and shopping out there for fresh goods. And the plants, particularly the mums in Fall are awesome! Great size, last long, cheap
That carrot souffle looked so good! I thought it looked like sweet potato mash too. I'm gonna have to look up how to make it! And that chicken soup OMG! Everything looked so amazing! Really love seeing your local PA places back home. And love seeing you trying to many new things! Props for trying liver and onions lol even with bacon!
My family and I would visit Lancaster every summer! Just so relaxing and the best food! All the great shops and the nicest people!❤ YES TO A HOMETOWN VIDEO!!!
If you ever feel like exploring once you’re back in FL, there’s a little Amish country store in Largo that I feel like you would appreciate! They’ve got shoofly pie, middleswarth bbq chips, Turkey hill tea, all that great stuff
this place is a hundred times better than the chain restaurants selling cooked frozen, processed mass produced food. It is real. fresh, home-cooked food w/ great seasonings.
Just watched this video. Definitely need to check this place out if we’re ever in the area. Just one question. May have missed it in this video or another….. Who is Ariel?

Always great to see you and your family together. Your love for each other is evident. Ok, now you’ve made me hungry my friend lol. I was born and raised in PA as well and absolutely love Amish foods! Thank you for all of your family friendly videos. I really appreciate you Nate.
Glad you’re enjoying your trip back to PA Nate! Thanks for the video of this Smorgasbord too! We were just talking about it but couldn’t remember the name of it!! Btw, I live in West Side and would love to see a video of your local stops!! Pricing may be expensive, but it’s quality, handmade and will last forever! Not like some mass produced item that they put together in a factory and don’t care how it’s done!!
We just ate at Shady Maple last Thursday night! My hubby and I go out every Thursday for our date night, alone, no kiddos. You made a reference to the dairy farm and Wawa! My husband works there…btw, they truly have the best and cleanest dairy around! Haven’t finished your video yet, but thank you! I really appreciate you doing this! Made me realize how I take for granted some things!! John 3:16❤
This video has me wanting to plan a trip back to the farm so badly! We’ve stayed at a local family farm in Honeybrook a couple of times and it’s such a nice and relaxing place!
I was just here for lunch on Monday this week! Took a short trip out there to see the figure skaters at Giant Center over the weekend, and completely fell in love with Amish Country/Lancaster County in general. Shady Maple was the perfect way to end my visit!
I live in SE PA. The Amish are incredible cooks and farmers. The produce is amazing. If you want a pie, Strawberry Rhubarb pie is addictive. If you get a chance to try their roast hog, do it!! The Amish are very nice people. Very polite, respectful, and interesting if you ever get the opportunity to talk to them.
I’ve been trying to think of an idea for a day trip with my daughter. I’m in South Jersey only about an hour from Lancaster but haven’t really visited in years! Great video…just followed!
I’d love to see all the hometown videos. I grew up in the same city/ area and I haven’t been back in about 8yrs other than Lancaster last summer. It’ll be nice to see it!
This is the area in which I was born 79 years ago and will always be what I call "Home". I lived in South Florida 48 years and hated every minute. I have now lived in South America in The Andes Valley on the side of a volcano for the past 12 years and I love it. It reminds me so much or rural Pennsylvania. This is a great video and took me back home. Thank you.
Great to see you made it back to PA again, I always really enjoy your vlogs from there. A hometown vlog would be great to see. I’m from an extremely small town in Ohio which had a very large Amish population surrounding it. Thanks for sharing your family and fun with us.
I'm two hours away from Lancaster and I am Pa. Dutch, so I grew up eating some of these dishes. I have been to Shady Maple, but it's been many years. I always loved the food there. There is a difference between filling and stuffing. Filling is made on the side and stuffing is put into a bird. Bacon dressing is really good. When I was small, we would pick dandelion when it first came up and my mom would make bacon dressing to put on it. To me potpie and dumplings are the same. I used to make liver and onions with bacon fat. Root beer is made from the sassafras bark from the tree. Baklava is not Pa. Dutch I think it's Greek or Hungarian. Amish buggies have to have lights on them, because they are on the roads at night. If you want to see a really nice farmers market, go the Green Dragon. It's only open on Fridays, but well worth the visit. You can buy the big carrots there. It's in Ephrata which is in the area near Lancaster. Thanks for the great blog.
Ur absolutely right.!! ALSO, DO NOT FORGET TO GET URSELF SOME AMISH STUFFED PRETZELS.!! OMGOSH THEY R TO DIE FOR HANDS DOWN.!! I get the Brisket Pretzels & they also have Pepperoni Pizza, Steak & Cheese, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Pulled Pork & several others. They have the usual soft Pretzels too PLUS Pigs in a Blanket. U WILL be addicted to that stand.!!
we loved this video with mom and sis ..... please take advantage of your time with them and give us many more with them and showing your travels around the area ..... be safe and watch out for the cats and carriages

It’s so nice to see your Mom & Bonnie again. It warms my heart to see you back “home” for a bit. “Mr. Morrow’s Roots” would be fun.
We have a farmers market near us that has carrots twice as big as those lol.
That buffet looked amazing!!! Always love seeing your mom and Bon-Bon. Who is the precious Ariel? She’s adorable. I would love to see a hometown foodie tour!
Very nice made me hungry 😋 Ariel is very cute is she your niece. Enjoy family visit
Always great to see you and your family together. Your love for each other is evident. Ok, now you’ve made me hungry my friend lol. I was born and raised in PA as well and absolutely love Amish foods! Thank you for all of your family friendly videos. I really appreciate you Nate.
Holy Crap! Those were the largest carrots I have ever seen! I would have bought them just for the novelty of having them.
You should've visited the Green Dragon Flea Market in Ephrata. There's a massive collection of sellers.
Oh my goodness, its been years since I visited here with our grandparents. Love this area. It was so good when we visited.
Mr Morrow I just want to say how much we love and follow your videos. I would just love to meet you someday. ❤😊
Aww thank you so much I would like to meet you too
@@PagingMrMorrow we’re coming to Disney in August. I sure hope we run into you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been trying to think of an idea for a day trip with my daughter. I’m in South Jersey only about an hour from Lancaster but haven’t really visited in years! Great video…just followed!
Happy Friday! Hope you weren’t affected too much by the smoke 💨!!! Family time is the best ❤ enjoy 😉
Now it’s getting a lot better
I love ❤😊seeing you with your absolutely beautiful mother!!!!! What a blessing
I live about 40 minutes away from there but have only been there twice before the pandemic. I might have to make a trip back, I love shoo fly pie lol.
You can't beat Amish made furniture...if only I could afford it. I live in Indiana but may have to make a trek to Shady Maple😊
Yes that’s Lancaster-style pot pie… the best! The gift shop downstairs is also amazing, the largest I’ve ever seen… goes on forever!
I love the idea of a hometown eats video! It would be really fun to see some of the food you grew up with in PA.
Hi Nate!!!
I love watching your videos. Would LOVE to see your hometown foodie vlog! Maybe even try your favorite pizza? 😋 I definitely recommend Victory Pig for the best pizza in PA!
Thanks friend. You've given me some other things to do with my family. Always making new memories. ✌️🎉💚🎶🌻🌞
Wow what an impressive buffet! It looks WAY better than any buffet in Vegas
Oh my gosh - I love those decorative flowers!!! Might need to take a little trip this weekend and find one! LOL
I’m from 🇯🇵 Japan and my boyfriend’s family lives in Lancaster now. It’s quite a culture shock for me to learn about the city and Amish culture 😅
Maybe someday I can get to visit in person. I appreciate your optimism and positivity throughout your videos 🫶🏻
