  • Albert Salomon and Paula Salomon-Lindberg, father and stepmother of Charlotte Salomon, are being interviewed by Georg Stefan Troller in 1963, for his ‘Pariser Journal’(WDR).
Charlotte Salomon (Berlin, 1917 - Auschwitz, 1943) was nine years old at the time her mother committed suicide. In 1930 her father remarries the opera singer Paula Lindberg. Charlotte studied at the Art Academy in Berlin from 1936 till 1938. In January 1939 she fled from Berlin and went to stay with her grandparents who were living in the south of France. There she started to paint her life story 'Leben? oder Theater?', consisting of around 800 gouaches. The complete work now is in the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam.
