I laugh now when I think about how people criticized him at the time for "changing country music to a more pop sound" . Thats a laugh, considering the CRAP we call country today! Eddie Rabbitt was more country than ANYONE being played on the radio today! Great songwriter as well! He should be in the hall of fame if he isn't!
He was pop-country, and there's nothing wrong with that. He wasn't traditional country, which is what you're trying to call him. It's funny how you're doing the exact thing people did to him to today's artists.
@@LinkRocks... I get your point, but NO ONE is going to be reminiscing about the garbage that passes for "Country Music" in 2023... in 30 years from now. Not a chance.
Gone 23 years but forever missed! You were a good singer and songwriter Eddie Rabbit! And a good looking man! We don't have good singers like you anymore, nor good songwriters who know how to write songs that live forever. You left us way too soon, but thank you for the pleasure of your company while you were here.
Awesome entertainer and super talented, handsome. I remember his songs coming across the Texas airwaves in my childhood. Shout out to West Texans and "The Panhandle" people!!!
I remember growing up in the 70 and 80s listening to this guy...Like others said, I didn't even know he passed. He's just another great that i thought slipped away to enjoy the excesses of his labor...which he rightly deserved. God Bless sir and Rest in PEace.
@@Mattea68 We so wish that was true, but unfortunately Eddie was a heavy smoker most of his life. He did quit smoking and lost some weight when his son died. But it turned out to be too little too late. I’m sure the years spent in smoky beer joints and clubs didn’t help. 😥. R.I.P. Eddie
It is so sad that all these beautiful songs are not sang and recorded as of today by many others to keep Eddies memory alive. It seems all these songs just died and faded away when Eddie died. I don't know why but it is a shame all these songs are not heard today!!!
Because there is only one Eddie Rabbitt. Today’s acts and mechanically manufactured artists would only undermine them or provide a cheap imitation at best.
I don’t know where you are listening for Eddie, but his songs are a staple on multiple country stations and satellite channels across the U.S. I personally hear Eddie Rabbitt songs quite a bit. js
Eddie was the best. On top of all the superlatives you could heap on the guy, he did it the honorable way…working a job while he honed his craft. What a man. A man’s man.
I saw this concert on a friend's TV years ago and Never forgot it. What a great and Real songwriter. I can feel every song. Thank You Eddie! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏❤❤❤❤
Music truly lives forever. I have been listening to these old songs of late and remember sitting next to my grandfather as boy in his Ol’ Chey Cheyenne pickup truck and fishing all day on the jetties along the Texas Gulf coast blasting some Eddie Rabbit out of the AC Delco factory radio. I sure do appreciate all the great music Eddie made. And through his music, I can always relive precious moments with my family that are no longer here anymore. Love spending time with my grandpa and listening to some Eddie Rabbit. RIP Eddie.
Listen to the band, the mix, the arrangements, the songs, the singers, Eddie. it 6:50 dont get better. you just dont hear this sophistication and effort much anymore.
Eddie was a class act and very talented. He should be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Come on, Nashville.
I feel the reason he is getting the shaft is because he is one of the limited amount of inductees that have gone in from the Country crossover era...
I never liked country music but I always liked Eddie’s songs.
💯
Back when musicians were musicians. Singers were singers & music was real music!

One of greatest pop country writers of all time. His songs are solid gold.
And married to one woman and he loved only her, good for you sir, you are number one in my book, God Bless you!
It's impossible to pick a "best song" by Eddie. All his work was of such high quantity . ❤

the world misses you Eddie.....
“ You can’t run from love” my favorite, Thanks Eddie.
Mine too
He didn't even get to all of his hits, that's how many Eddie had over his career. Gone, but his music lives on. RIP
Another interesting fact i just learned. Never knew he wrote that for Elvis. He was so talented. ❤
And a beautiful man. Great singer. RIP
a genuine, irreplaceable singer and songwriter. For those not familiar with the man and his music, this is Rabbitt 101.
Imagine being able to write a song as good as Kentucky Rain!
Eddie did good with Kentucky Rain. I would imagine he made millions of that one.
@@myrtellelee2857 No, barely any money at all. Eddie probably bought a modest car and a few other things. There was no money then in music.
Beautiful song
Finest man that ever lived, lol
Awesome entertainer and super talented, handsome. I remember his songs coming across the Texas airwaves in my childhood. Shout out to West Texans and "The Panhandle" people!!!
One of the greatest live performer's in country music history..
He left us way to soon. Please don't smoke,it'll kill you one day. Miss you Eddie...Great voice.
Eddie one of greatest songwriters nashville ever had.

It takes the Irish every time
We so need a LOT of Eddie Rabbitt in the world right now. Irish soul through and through R.I.P. Eddie. Too soon. Way too soon.
Amen. I didn't even know he had passed away over 20 years ago until recently. Wondered where he went!
Amen!!
He was a whole 57 years old!!?? Died of lung cancer . Probably of the nasty smokey ass dives he used to sing in before he made it big!!
@@adriantomlin2902 i think you are right, Eddie NEVER smoked

It's terrible!! A helluva talent! God wants the gifted people with him I guess!!
How about some huge props for his band, keeping it authentic and perfectly recreating those Rabbitt three-part harmonies.

I loved him ever since I heard the song suspicion. He looks pretty thin and a little sickly here.
Wow, talent lost way too soon!
Keith Whitley, Elvis, are few others that left too soon!!
