Dont be upset and disappointed in your time. 19:01 is a fantasic time and an amazing time. keep up the good work and your PB will come sooner than you think. all these races are part of your journey and it makes you grow
Ah. I ran 20:01 there last year! It's a decent course but only considered fast as the top people get to race each other. For the runner lower down the field It's no faster than Battersea Park.
Haha the curse of the .01! No faster than Battersea Park I agree, but I was in a pack for most of the race which was refreshing and I wish it had given me a boost
19:01 is still a cracking time !! I recently set my 5k race PB of 19:29 at York 5k which is basically 5 laps of a cycle track. You are very consistent so I'm sure with a continuation of what training you're doing it will all click and you'll get that PB 🙂
I still believe in you, Chloe!😁It looks like you had quite a lovely trip to the countryside and got another good training stimulus towards improving your PB. And 19:01 despite it being an evening race! The trend is in the right direction and I'm confident that you'll get it if you keep giving yourself chances. Great race and great video.
It sounds like your 5K adventure was quite the rollercoaster ride! Even though the PB didn't quite happen this time, the journey itself sounded like a blast. Kudos for giving it your all, and here's to more countryside escapes and future races. Keep chasing those goals!
I checked on your strava and the race has 19 m of elevation. Some might call it flat but everybody has to consider that this is not nearly as flat as other races. Chicago or Berlin marathon do have that amount of elevation over the entire length of the marathon.
there is a little bit of elevation, but with the massive downhills it's quite a fast course really. Problem is, I'm running too much on flat routes and I'm not used to undulating courses!
Just a thought but next time you race think about trying to control your HR (breath slowly/rub your temples and check your pulse to keep it down) on the start line before the gun goes off. That middle part of the race makes me think you may be flooding your body with too much adrenaline caused by a higher HR on the line and going out quick on top of that creating a mini bonking effect. Your can practice this during longer interval sessions.
Great effort, Chloe. I guess once you have super fast PBs like you do, it gets harder to break them, and just takes a little bit more time. Keep pushing 👍🏻🏃♂️
It is again a few seconds faster then the last 5K you are really doing great. You did not taper and you are running higher volume. Don't worry. The race looked very busy.
I get the feeling of being disappointed and frustrated but you are consistently quick over that distance and I reckon you'll be 18.30ish soon. Keep at it. 💪

Thank you, I know it's a decent time and progress takes longer now, but not even be able to match my PB leaves me scratching my head!

Thank you! The 5k is really proving challenging compared to other distances where I've seen more progress this year. Hopefully it will all click soon!

Thanks Eddie! It was indeed a lovely couple days away and as you say, every race is a good training stimulus. Hopefully I can improve at the next one!

Every little bit of elevation does count.
Fantastic running, very well done. You will do it when your body is ready! All the best 🙂
thank you!

Thanks Mark, gone are the days where every race was a PB haha

This really shows how difficult it is to pace some races. You can only learn from it.
this one was a pacing exercise for sure

Fingers crossed, at this point I'd even be happy with a PB by 1 second lol
