Noel has never hidden who has influenced his music and songwriting. Its obviously The Beatles of course. Most have taken it as a compliment and with humour. Neil Innes was asked if Oasis were better than The Beatles he replied they weren't even better than The Rutles 😅 I remember reading years ago Noel saying that This Guy's in Love with You was his favourite love song. He got to perform it with Bacharach which is amazing and he has also performed with his hero Paul McCartney too 👋

So, it wouldn't be fair to overlook his songwriting ability. Consider "Supersonic," where the solo draws inspiration from "My Sweet Lord," ultimately, the song's essence is entirely Noel's creation. A lot of artists have done this but shy away from admitting it, Oasis gets so much flack because their honest about it. I'd recommend giving Oasis a chance, especially their first album. It seems like you might have some preconceptions.
There's a not very good film called "yesterday" about a man who has an accident, wakes up, and slowly realises that he's in an alternate world that has never heard of the Beatles, so he passes off their songs as his own. The only good joke in the film is when he's researching what's going on, googling everything Beatles related, types in "Oasis" and google gives back zero results lol
I bloody love that film! Liverpool has a place in my heart and my ma loves the beatles so it's just a singalong film. I know it's not the beatles, but it's a cute use of their music, and yeah it's a silly romcom but it's adorable
I really don't think Oasis were any worse at lifting riffs and stuff from other songs, they were just more obvious about doing it, and admitted doing it over and over. The Beatles even did it - look up where Come Together came from. Same with I saw her standing there. Both lifted riffs and melody from Chuck Berry. Everyone does it - Oasis were no worse.
Only musicians can understand this. I've tried making music back in my youth. After finish making the chord, i plan to give it to my friend to make the lyrics. It never happened since not long after, i realized a song that "i knew" sounded just like mine. It's just hapened unconciously i guess.

Through out musical history people have been inspired by other bands that they love, not only does it breath new life to music but opens the door to the bands that inspired them for a new generation. I thank Oasis for opening the door to my love to the Beatles that I just couldn’t get before discovering oasis when I was growing up. Ironically, female pop group Girls Aloud were sued by Noel Gallagher because one of their songs sounded like one of Oasis's songs. It may have been the music publisher rather than Gallagher himself, but even so the hypocrisy is breathtaking.
It is entirely possible that by now, or pretty soon to now, the different combinations of cords and notes have been tried. So therefore, all we may have left is a different perspective and maybe baby, different lyrics. If you like it bro, go with the flow!
He created better songs than their originals though, and he was always pretty upfront about it. Can't think of another band with the sheer volume of great songs that Oasis produced
Too many people have forgiven Oasis for their cheating. That's all it is when it's on this level. When they don't, the songs are ultimately forgettable.

I’m not really an Oasis fan, I did buy their first album after seeing them play live. They were supporting the Boo Radleys and I have to say Oasis were amazing, they certainly had stage presence
I hate to tell you this, but The Beatles were influenced by and also ripped off older songs. You can go through every song from the 90s and show they use chord progressions or small segments that are similar to other songs. There are only a certain number of chord progressions that are possible and so there are always going to be similarities between songs. I grew up on The Beatles and them, my parents were coming of age when they first hit the scene. When I went to university and Britpop and bands like Oasis hit the scene I instantly loved their music, probably for nostalgic reasons of growing up on The Beatles. I don't think Noel, and Oasis, have ever said that they weren't influenced by The Beatles and other bands. I think you should also realise where the Gallagher brothers were from and the environment they grew up in, it wasn't an affluent part of Manchester and they had a father, who their mum eventually took herself and her boys away from, who beat them, abused them. I think you are somewhat projecting your own personal life experience (which I don't know about, but hope it wasn't as deprived as theirs was) and using this to almost expect them to have behaved like you would. I suggest watching a documentary on them from the early years because even when I started liking their music I didn't particularly like them as people, it is why Oasis cancelled tour dates and eventually split up I believe, the continual rift between Noel and Liam. Is this enough reason not to like them? Sure. But you seem(ed) to dislike them for having a sound similar to The Beatles who you love, which is why I them in the first place!!! In the end as suggested in this video I don't this Noel ever properly sat down to plagiarise else's music. They did "borrow" aspects of songs from other artists, done more intentionally than others, they were bigger Beatle's fans then you or I will ever be, and where this has infringed copyright holders they've had to pay, but this has happened to many artists and you don't hate them do you? I'm glad that you admitted at the end that you might not hate them as much as you did. Just take their music as being an extension of The Beatles (even if it's inferior in your eyes) and enjoy their music for what it is that's what I do.

Rip-offs or influences? Because these axamples are tiny parts of songs and not reflective of a song as a whole. Also... Even if there are parts borrowed from others. Music has a limit of how many chords exist. Crossovers are inevitable and there is no denying that Noel Gallaghers real talent was as a lyricist. Which are all original. That's the flip side of this coin.

Personally, I loved Oasis from day one. All the 'Beatles rip-off' jibes were levelled at them from the start but I feel this missed the mark of why they hit the heights that they did. In a country reeling from the sugary manufacture of the Spice Girls and Take That, we got presented with the likes of Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Suede etc. I quite liked Suede but they were not very anthemic and a bit more conceptual. Not denying that Blur were popular, but to me they just felt like insecure middle-class undergrad's who were punching downward in their songs and wanting to sell to the targets of their songs which never sat well with me. Pulp were uniquely annoying thanks to the insufferable Jarvis Cocker who always hid behind his poundshop intellectualism and was always wearing his 'I'm oh-so-wry' mask. Oasis just felt raw and real, and their backgrounds were inescapably the same as their target audience. No matter where the music came from, Oasis added their own feel and attitude and it was always delivered by a band who felt like 'one of us' (regardless of the reality). This was what went wrong with later stuff, I suspect as they moved further from their roots, they've lost that GENUINE anger, despair, hopelessness, hopefulness and at best tried to simulate it. I couldn't care where the music originated. I'm just the listener. Leave that argument for the lawyers. If it feels right, it feels right and that's all I wanted. Oasis delivered that for me
Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Suede??? They ALL predated Spice Girls by nearly a decade. Fair enough, they didn't hit the charts before the 90s, but their music wasn't some kind of reaction to the bubblegum of SG or other bands of that ilk. Try not to rewrite history.
When Brahms Symphony no 1 was first performed someone afterwards came up to him and pointed out its striking melodic similarity with the Ode to Joy melody from Beethoven’s Ninth - he famously responded: “Any fool can see that!” I mean, it's kind of what Noel is saying, right? lol They do say 'good artists borrow, great artists steal'. The Beatles did it, but because they did it very early on, no one thought to sue them. They were ripping off poor black artists that weren't well off enough to sue them, and the culture of sueing wasn't around back then.

If you want to play this game I'll illucidate you on the many many ways jazz and early r&b music 'rips' off a lot of classical and cultural European music. Burt Bacharach also had a major resurgence in interest in his songs due to a portrait of him being featured on the cover of the first Oasis album with many many Bacharach compilation albums being sold off the back of it…as this was before UA-cam and music streaming sites, so you had to either borrow or buy the music to know what it was.
When Oasis came out I loved them, though I knew they were heavily influenced by The Beatles (as are many of my favourite bands), and the T.Rex riff seen here. But I liked them as they were raw and had a bit of attitude. The music media put them up against Blur, a band from the south of England who were considered 'soft' to the 'harder' northern edge of Oasis. And I didn't care much for Blur either even though I'm a southern softie! Lol. Over the years though, I've grown tired of Oasis, and not from all the lifted parts from so many other songs. As others have said here, Noel didn't hide his influences and all artists borrow from everyone else. I like that Oasis pull so much from the 1960s-1970s as that is my favourite musical period. But... I went to see Blur live and though can't call myself a fan, their music was so much more diverse, and there's the rub. Oasis are pretty one dimensional. Their music is more samey than most. Which is fine, if you like that, and some other bands have made careers of a similar formula: AC/DC, Status Quo, The Rolling Stones. I just got bored with Oasis' lack of inventiveness. Noel said in an interview that he'd give all his band's albums to have written the one album The Sex Pistols released, Never Mind The Bollocks. I'm glad he said that, because all of Oasis' albums are not a tenth as good or significant as that one Pistols album.

Never been an Oasis fan since they stole the instrumental part of one of their songs from the closing theme of a 90s anime that was big in the UK at the time. I don’t think they malicious stole all this, but most musicians are a lot more careful to check their influences.
To be honest, I'd rather bands take inspiration from those that came before than just straight up use a bunch of samples and add some new lyrics over it. Not saying that Oasis didn't cross the line between "inspiration" and "copying", but there's certainly a lot worse out there (and a lot better ofc).
One of the more *very* obscure ones is 'Fuzzy' by Grant Lee Buffalo, which Noel ripped for 'Hey Now'. Only known him to mention it once briefly in an interview where he talked of breaking the States in '94, he heard it on a compilation and took the riff because the songwriter was far too obscure and knew he could get away with it.
If you don't know Neil Innes you will probably recognise him as the leading minstrel of Sir Robin's entourage in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He wrote and sang all the songs in the film. If you really want to get to know him though, you should check out his band the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band that he created with Viv Stanshall. Viv sings on most of the songs but a famous one that Neil sings on is Urban Spaceman and it's great!
Hey JJ, I know you like Radiohead... but they’ve also had to pay out royalties to others. Most famously in relation to "Creep". It's exactly like "All I Need (is the air that I breathe)". There's a few cool mashups of both songs on UA-cam.
I’m not a fan of oasis whatsoever I find the brothers to be horrible n they basically stole stone roses attitude but I think you’re really forgetting how music is made n the limited number of chords that can be used for pop music

I could write a long chapter on Oasis as I was working in Rockfield Studios when they recorded What's The Story album.. needless to say our paths crossed a lot... I won't go on but I'm proud to say while I had no desire to ever see them play they (minus Noel) with lots of hangers on came to a local pub to see my band Urban Bourbon where 4 talented musicians having fun whilst on not touring ran through a fab set of classics Hendrix, Chuck Berry and the Beatles...Dear Prudence... clearly they loved our set as Dear Prudence would soon be encompassed in their routine..😊 Noel didn't want to associate at all with Liam at the time..Oh Stone Roses were around too... and The Charlatans..fun times.. mostly 😁
You could find a million and one clips of Noel brazenly admitting to lifting bits of songs, it's not something he's ever been ashamed of or felt the need to hide away from. As far as he sees it, if it was that easy to build a band from nothing to becoming one of the biggest bands of the decade just by lifting bits from everyone else, everyone would be at it. He backs his ability to stitch it together with his own stuff, putting his own spin on it and you have to say it's worked for him.
They've never hidden it. The first Oasis song I ever heard was Shakermaker and I immediately recognised the use of the "I'd like to..." line and melody. To me it was more referential and usually part of an ultimately completely different tune. The Happy Mondays were doing exactly the same thing before them. It was more of a nod to their influences but also an in-your-face Manc scally attitude thing, too.
We all know Don Draper came up with 'I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing' but was too busy smoking to sue everyone over it. 😉😂 It is possible to rip things off subconsciously, I once spent weeks working out the plot, characters, backstory, settings and dynamics of a movie, then started working on the dialogue, then one day while I was taking crap (when I do my best thinking) it just dawned on me my movie was almost the same plot as an existing old movie just with a sci-fi flavour, I just dumped it and never finished it.

If you haven't already, you should take a look at 'The Rutles'. Still funny, if a little dated in places and George Harrison has a cameo role in it. Take a look at "The Bonzo dog doo-dah band", Neil Innes band in the sixties and early seventies, both he and the band had a close association with the 'Pythons' too. Surreal stuff!
I worked in a pub in which Oasis was so overplayed, I grew to hate their music. That both of them are such unpleasant people hasn't helped me warm to the band, over the years.
Favourite band. Their attitude definitely gets in the way of some people liking them, especially Americans it seems, but for a handful of songs Noel has lifted or used or stolen, there's enough Oasis songs to justify them being considered great and Noel a great songwriter. There's also the Some Might Say melody that was taken, or inspired by Grant Lee Buffalo's song Fuzzy. You can hear the similarity even though not a direct lift/steal.
The problem is if you go back in time music produced now or even in the not so distant past eg 1940 onwards may have used chord progression and placement equal to note and chords used on music by Mozart, Brahms or even Tchaikovsky. So my question would be how far back would song writers have to go back to make sure that their music doesn’t have any correlation to other music writers of the past? Heck even musicians from the 40’s & 50’s had music scores that were very close/matched music from the turn of the century. Another thing I noticed is some of the score may have had similar timings but the note and composition were different keys and positioning eg one maybe e-flat 2 a semi quaver, where Noel’s may have been E-sharp with a slide to E-flat. I am from Manchester but I am very eclectic with my tastes in music, eg from classical to rock including pop and reggae etc. I do like some of oasis’s music but I also love music from other bands from the same era. I enjoy music from the 1940’s to some modern music (except drum and bass music also I not keen on modern metal bands, as I prefer music that has a melody and lyrics).
There's a kids TV show called "You and Me" from the 70's, which Noel used to watch as a kid, he used the theme from that in She's Electric - "I'll be you and you'll be me..."

Name a band or artist who didnt try to copy , was heavily influenced by , added to or stole from another band or artist. All the greats were accused of copying older artists before them elvis , led zeppelin , the rolling stones , U2 , eric clapton , green day , lenny kravitz , puff daddy and basically everyone else. There is only so many chords riffs beats and only so many ways of arranging them. Its the way music has always been created passed on from generation to generation. Some say stolen i see it differently everyone adds their layer on top good or indifferent its all about perspective.
James Bay ripped off my old band called Suburban Dirts. He used to support us years ago. We had a song which is on UA-cam called "All of This" he ripped it off to create "Hold Back the River". We were strongly advised not to sue. Would've cost us a fortune without a guaranteed win, his record company would've had the best lawyers and constantly postponed court dates to rinse you dry before you even get a chance to go to court. Its tactic they all use. But that's the music industry 🙁

I told him we're all being compared with the beatles and that we've moved on from that era. But the industry hadn't they wanted the next big thing... So because of the we didn't play ball they looked elsewhere.. But soon after bands like OMD echo and the bunny men.. Space.. The Las ( the lars) meaning the lads.. It never happened since not long after, i realized a song that "i knew" sounded just like mine. It's just hapened unconciously i guess.

Through out musical history people have been inspired by other bands that they love, not only does it breath new life to music but opens the door to the bands that inspired them for a new generation. I thank Oasis for opening the door to my love to the Beatles that I just couldn’t get before discovering oasis when I was growing up.

Ironically, female pop group Girls Aloud were sued by Noel Gallagher because one of their songs sounded like one of Oasis's songs. It may have been the music publisher rather than Gallagher himself, but even so the hypocrisy is breathtaking.
It is entirely possible that by now, or pretty soon to now, the different combinations of cords and notes have been tried. So therefore, all we may have left is a different perspective and maybe baby, different lyrics. If you like it bro, go with the flow!
He created better songs than their originals though, and he was always pretty upfront about it. Can't think of another band with the sheer volume of great songs that Oasis produced

I’m not really an Oasis fan, I did buy their first album after seeing them play live. They were supporting the Boo Radleys and I have to say Oasis were amazing, they certainly had stage presence
I hate to tell you this, but The Beatles were influenced by and also ripped off older songs. You can go through every song from the 90s and show they use chord progressions or small segments that are similar to other songs. There are only a certain number of chord progressions that are possible and so there are always going to be similarities between songs. I grew up on The Beatles and them, my parents were coming of age when they first hit the scene. When I went to university and Britpop and bands like Oasis hit the scene I instantly loved their music, probably for nostalgic reasons of growing up on The Beatles. I don't think Noel, and Oasis, have ever said that they weren't influenced by The Beatles and other bands.
I think you should also realise where the Gallagher brothers were from and the environment they grew up in, it wasn't an affluent part of Manchester and they had a father, who their mum eventually took herself and her boys away from, who beat them, abused them. I think you are somewhat projecting your own personal life experience (which I don't know about, but hope it wasn't as deprived as theirs was) and using this to almost expect them to have behaved like you would.
I suggest watching a documentary on them from the early years because even when I started liking their music I didn't particularly like them as people, it is why Oasis cancelled tour dates and eventually split up I believe, the continual rift between Noel and Liam. Is this enough reason not to like them? Sure. But you seem(ed) to dislike them for having a sound similar to The Beatles who you love, which is why I them in the first place!!!
In the end as suggested in this video I don't this Noel ever properly sat down to plagiarise else's music. They did "borrow" aspects of songs from other artists, done more intentionally than others, they were bigger Beatle's fans then you or I will ever be, and where this has infringed copyright holders they've had to pay, but this has happened to many artists and you don't hate them do you? I'm glad that you admitted at the end that you might not hate them as much as you did. Just take their music as being an extension of The Beatles (even if it's inferior in your eyes) and enjoy their music for what it is that's what I do.

Rip-offs or influences? Because these axamples are tiny parts of songs and not reflective of a song as a whole. Also... Even if there are parts borrowed from others. Music has a limit of how many chords exist. Crossovers are inevitable and there is no denying that Noel Gallaghers real talent was as a lyricist. Which are all original. That's the flip side of this coin.

Personally, I loved Oasis from day one. All the 'Beatles rip-off' jibes were levelled at them from the start but I feel this missed the mark of why they hit the heights that they did. In a country reeling from the sugary manufacture of the Spice Girls and Take That, we got presented with the likes of Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Suede etc. I quite liked Suede but they were not very anthemic and a bit more conceptual. Not denying that Blur were popular, but to me they just felt like insecure middle-class undergrad's who were punching downward in their songs and wanting to sell to the targets of their songs which never sat well with me. Pulp were uniquely annoying thanks to the insufferable Jarvis Cocker who always hid behind his poundshop intellectualism and was always wearing his 'I'm oh-so-wry' mask. Oasis just felt raw and real, and their backgrounds were inescapably the same as their target audience. No matter where the music came from, Oasis added their own feel and attitude and it was always delivered by a band who felt like 'one of us' (regardless of the reality). This was what went wrong with later stuff, I suspect as they moved further from their roots, they've lost that GENUINE anger, despair, hopelessness, hopefulness and at best tried to simulate it. I couldn't care where the music originated. I'm just the listener. Leave that argument for the lawyers. If it feels right, it feels right and that's all I wanted. Oasis delivered that for me
Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Suede??? They ALL predated Spice Girls by nearly a decade. Fair enough, they didn't hit the charts before the 90s, but their music wasn't some kind of reaction to the bubblegum of SG or other bands of that ilk.

The Beatles did it, but because they did it very early on, no one thought to sue them. They were ripping off poor black artists that weren't well off enough to sue them, and the culture of sueing wasn't around back then.

Burt Bacharach also had a major resurgence in interest in his songs due to a portrait of him being featured on the cover of the first Oasis album with many many Bacharach compilation albums being sold off the back of it…as this was before UA-cam and music streaming sites, so you had to either borrow or buy the music to know what it was.
They also ripped off the riffs from the Rolling Stones, Street fighting man for one track, the name of which escapes me.

When Oasis came out I loved them, though I knew they were heavily influenced by The Beatles (as are many of my favourite bands), and the T.Rex riff seen here. But I liked them as they were raw and had a bit of attitude. The music media put them up against Blur, a band from the south of England who were considered 'soft' to the 'harder' northern edge of Oasis. And I didn't care much for Blur either even though I'm a southern softie! Lol.
Over the years though, I've grown tired of Oasis, and not from all the lifted parts from so many other songs. As others have said here, Noel didn't hide his influences and all artists borrow from everyone else. I like that Oasis pull so much from the 1960s-1970s as that is my favourite musical period. But...
I went to see Blur live and though can't call myself a fan, their music was so much more diverse, and there's the rub.
Oasis are pretty one dimensional. Their music is more samey than most. Which is fine, if you like that, and some other bands have made careers of a similar formula: AC/DC, Status Quo, The Rolling Stones.
I just got bored with Oasis' lack of inventiveness.
Noel said in an interview that he'd give all his band's albums to have written the one album The Sex Pistols released, Never Mind The Bollocks. I'm glad he said that, because all of Oasis' albums are not a tenth as good or significant as that one Pistols album.

Never been an Oasis fan since they stole the instrumental part of one of their songs from the closing theme of a 90s anime that was big in the UK at the time. I don’t think they malicious stole all this, but most musicians are a lot more careful to check their influences.

To be honest, I'd rather bands take inspiration from those that came before than just straight up use a bunch of samples and add some new lyrics over it. Not saying that Oasis didn't cross the line between "inspiration" and "copying", but there's certainly a lot worse out there (and a lot better ofc).
One of the more *very* obscure ones is 'Fuzzy' by Grant Lee Buffalo, which Noel ripped for 'Hey Now'. Only known him to mention it once briefly in an interview where he talked of breaking the States in '94, he heard it on a compilation and took the riff because the songwriter was far too obscure and knew he could get away with it.

If you don't know Neil Innes you will probably recognise him as the leading minstrel of Sir Robin's entourage in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He wrote and sang all the songs in the film.
If you really want to get to know him though, you should check out his band the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band that he created with Viv Stanshall. Viv sings on most of the songs but a famous one that Neil sings on is Urban Spaceman and it's great!
Hey JJ, I know you like Radiohead... but they’ve also had to pay out royalties to others. Most famously in relation to "Creep". It's exactly like "All I Need (is the air that I breathe)". There's a few cool mashups of both songs on UA-cam.

I could write a long chapter on Oasis as I was working in Rockfield Studios when they recorded What's The Story album.. needless to say our paths crossed a lot... I won't go on but I'm proud to say while I had no desire to ever see them play they (minus Noel) with lots of hangers on came to a local pub to see my band Urban Bourbon where 4 talented musicians having fun whilst on not touring ran through a fab set of classics Hendrix, Chuck Berry and the Beatles...Dear Prudence... clearly they loved our set as Dear Prudence would soon be encompassed in their routine..😊 Noel didn't want to associate at all with Liam at the time..Oh Stone Roses were around too... and The Charlatans..fun times.. mostly 😁

You could find a million and one clips of Noel brazenly admitting to lifting bits of songs, it's not something he's ever been ashamed of or felt the need to hide away from. As far as he sees it, if it was that easy to build a band from nothing to becoming one of the biggest bands of the decade just by lifting bits from everyone else, everyone would be at it. He backs his ability to stitch it together with his own stuff, putting his own spin on it and you have to say it's worked for him.

They've never hidden it. The first Oasis song I ever heard was Shakermaker and I immediately recognised the use of the "I'd like to..." line and melody. To me it was more referential and usually part of an ultimately completely different tune. The Happy Mondays were doing exactly the same thing before them. It was more of a nod to their influences but also an in-your-face Manc scally attitude thing, too.
We all know Don Draper came up with 'I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing' but was too busy smoking to sue everyone over it. 😉😂
It is possible to rip things off subconsciously, I once spent weeks working out the plot, characters, backstory, settings and dynamics of a movie, then started working on the dialogue, then one day while I was taking crap (when I do my best thinking) it just dawned on me my movie was almost the same plot as an existing old movie just with a sci-fi flavour, I just dumped it and never finished it.
Sure, Noel has drawn influences from others, excluding those songs, he is a great songwriter, and a genius at writing a chorus.
I don’t think Burt Bacharach forgave him. He was probably flattered that his song still mattered to another artist.

If you haven't already, you should take a look at 'The Rutles'. Still funny, if a little dated in places and George Harrison has a cameo role in it.
Take a look at "The Bonzo dog doo-dah band", Neil Innes band in the sixties and early seventies, both he and the band had a close association with the 'Pythons' too. Surreal stuff!

I worked in a pub in which Oasis was so overplayed, I grew to hate their music. That both of them are such unpleasant people hasn't helped me warm to the band, over the years.
Favourite band. Their attitude definitely gets in the way of some people liking them, especially Americans it seems, but for a handful of songs Noel has lifted or used or stolen, there's enough Oasis songs to justify them being considered great and Noel a great songwriter.
There's also the Some Might Say melody that was taken, or inspired by Grant Lee Buffalo's song Fuzzy. You can hear the similarity even though not a direct lift/steal.
The problem is if you go back in time music produced now or even in the not so distant past eg 1940 onwards may have used chord progression and placement equal to note and chords used on music by Mozart, Brahms or even Tchaikovsky. So my question would be how far back would song writers have to go back to make sure that their music doesn’t have any correlation to other music writers of the past? Heck even musicians from the 40’s & 50’s had music scores that were very close/matched music from the turn of the century. Another thing I noticed is some of the score may have had similar timings but the note and composition were different keys and positioning eg one maybe e-flat 2 a semi quaver, where Noel’s may have been E-sharp with a slide to E-flat.
I am from Manchester but I am very eclectic with my tastes in music, eg from classical to rock including pop and reggae etc. I do like some of oasis’s music but I also love music from other bands from the same era. I enjoy music from the 1940’s to some modern music (except drum and bass music also I not keen on modern metal bands, as I prefer music that has a melody and lyrics).
There also took REM for a tune, they even took a tune from a kid's TV show, Rosie and Jim???
There's a kids TV show called "You and Me" from the 70's, which Noel used to watch as a kid, he used the theme from that in She's Electric - "I'll be you and you'll be me..."

Name a band or artist who didnt try to copy , was heavily influenced by , added to or stole from another band or artist. All the greats were accused of copying older artists before them elvis , led zeppelin , the rolling stones , U2 , eric clapton , green day , lenny kravitz , puff daddy and basically everyone else. There is only so many chords riffs beats and only so many ways of arranging them. Its the way music has always been created passed on from generation to generation. Some say stolen i see it differently everyone adds their layer on top good or indifferent its all about perspective.

James Bay ripped off my old band called Suburban Dirts. He used to support us years ago. We had a song which is on UA-cam called "All of This" he ripped it off to create "Hold Back the River". We were strongly advised not to sue. Would've cost us a fortune without a guaranteed win, his record company would've had the best lawyers and constantly postponed court dates to rinse you dry before you even get a chance to go to court. Its tactic they all use. But that's the music industry 🙁

I told him we're all being compared with the beatles and that we've moved on from that era. But the industry hadn't they wanted the next big thing... So because of the we didn't play ball they looked elsewhere.. But soon after bands like OMD echo and the bunny men.. Space.. The Las ( the lars) meaning the lads.. That’s not just the greatest musical city of the world, but also the greatest football (soccer) city of the world. Oasis are from Manchester, a vile cesspit and actual portal to Hell. Think of the fridge in Ghostbusters, but with those hideous, nasal, moaning voices typified by the Gallaghers. In the 19th century, through the peak of the British Empire, a fierce rivalry developed between these two cities, only a short distance apart. Liverpool hit the heights first, as a trading port becoming the central hub of the British global trading empire. Indeed a huge percentage of all imports into Europe came via Liverpool. Meanwhile late comer Manchester rose from an irrelevant village to a loathsome, soot-stained, foul-aired factory-dominated city which came to exemplify the horrors of the Industrial Revolution. Mancunians then and still today live with the crushing burden, not just of their collective inferiority complex, but with the agonising reality of their actual municipal inferiority. On top of all that, the 20th century saw English football become dominated by a rivalry between the cities of the two clubs. Hence a similar nagging insecurity felt by Mancunian football supporters over their fundamental sporting inferiority to Merseyside. Here’s where the Gallaghers come in. They are the highest profile supporters of one of the two Manchester clubs. The supreme irony? They genuinely worship the Beatles.
