I love Maria Callas, BUT this piece is exceptional outstanding and special! Each one of them alone and it becomes DIVINE, when there voices are melting into one. I have listened to some other “Mira, o Norma”, but even La Divina, cannot live up to such a magic moment. I wish I could have been there. ❤️
I think it must have been difficult to achieve a proper balance between the two voices on that famously windy night. Difficult for lesser singers, I mean! Veasey has a lovely tone here, absolutely centred on pitch.
Don't dig at Sutherland, she was a superb Norma, considering the poor standards today, plus Sutherland and Horne's Mira o Norma and their Rimembranza is actually superb

Nobody has ever (in the recorded era) sung Norma like Caballé. Not even close. We only have to listen and watch without prejudice.
