Who'd thought I pronounced almond and library wrong all those years? Thank you Lucy for pointing these out! I also struggled with action, sword and sewing (I still tend to forget the last one).
I love your videos Lucy. You're just a great teacher and I'm learning more and more each day. To someone like me who loves English a lot you're like a star in darkness. Keep going
having witnessed this channel was great as the teacher here teaches so elegantly that i was taken aback as the true miracle of God, which Lucy ma'am truly is, can be blessed with the nectar of knowledge!!!
Hi! It was a great and practical lesson. I can not believe that I have been mispronouncing the word ' library' since I started learning English. In my mother tongue most of the people pronounce 'l' in ' salmon', but we don't have the same rule in English.
Years ago, spending my time in England (near London), I visited a big music store and asked for an album of Mark Almond. Regretfully, they could not find any in their database. Thank you Lucy, now I know why they had a problem. I made it difficult by mispronouncing the artist's surname...
What I like prertty much in your teaching videos is that you mind what mistakes foreigner English teachers make and how learners struggle afterwards to understand and communicate native English. As well as before, I enjoyed this video quite much. :-)
The sound in the would/should/could trio is really similary to the Hunarian sound ü, so I didn't realize others would struggle with that particular sound.
I love british accent, but unfortunately I learned and have an american accent. Even reaching fluency is hard to understand some words you say, but I found your channel these days and decided to challenge myself to understand british accent. It's beatifully strange the way you say the word "WORD"; it's like you don't pronounce the "R", but americans do pronounce it. I see the right depends on the place! I came here from Bob the Canadian, hehe. Thanks for the video!
Hola Lucy…Good morning!!!…it’s 6:00 am here in the 🇺🇸 I’m going to have to watch the video later on after a good breakfast 🍳 and cup of joe ☕️ …and more awake lol 😂…sounds like is going to be a good lesson for today’s video… see you soon!!👋😊👋Saludos
I shouldn't have been surprised, people have mentioned my accent before, but I had thought that I was long past it. Regardless I don't think I will ever should so delightful as your self. Thank you.

hi
Library was a real surprise for me!😱
Yes, I was surprised too
You can say it with the ending BRER-EE. Thay isn't wrong.
No need to :) This is a UK pronunciation, Americans say it the - for us - usual way :)
If only we had an English teacher like Lucy. Beauty with brains.
Who'd thought I pronounced almond and library wrong all those years? Thank you Lucy for pointing these out! I also struggled with action, sword and sewing (I still tend to forget the last one).
LIBRARY - in american english its correct how you said . LIBRARY - LIE - BRAIR -EE
I'm wondering how you pronounce CASTLE 🏰🤣🤣🤣
I think a lot of us have been taught this the wrong way back in school! I’m norwegian, so I’m excused! Right🤪👍
A similat pitfall is colonel.
I used to pronounce it with three syllables when it turns out it's only two syllables long (something like kuh-nul)

This is by far my favourite series of your lessons. Thank you! 😀
Thanks Lucy from Philippines👋
The only one that rubs me the wrong way is "library". I've been taught the reri sound and even the dictionary says it like that 🤔 I am confused 🤷
Me too 🤔
Check Oxford Learner's Dictionaries. It's available online and it features the pronunciation that Lucy is talking about in this video.
@@dominikkowal1087 yes, but Cambridge says the other way
I'm also confused with the word "library".

Wordreference has the following spelling: UK:/ˈlaɪbrəri/ ....
@@cbatty80 /ˈlaɪbrəri/ is US pronunciation, /ˈlaɪbri/ is for UK
When I used to go to ESL classes my teacher told me that lots of Americans don't know how to speak English very well, same thing is in Spanish,
I am happy to watch this video early. Thank you so much Lucy
