    Just started with peyote stitch and decided to try this, had some goofs, I chose 2 sparkly beads a sort of root beer brown color I don't have the name of and the 1 I have the name of is orchid, they don't have much contrast between them, I also had my cat come along and walk around in front of me, while I was trying to get her to go away she lunged at the thread and upset the bead pot so I had beads all over the counter I was working at. It's the first project I haven't taken apart. I think I made it a few rows too big but on the whole I'm happy with it. Next time I'm picking a sparkly and a matte color in very different shades. I couldn't get my needle through any of the thread bridges so I just wove zig zags through the ring with both tails.

    This is Wadiya here. Love that peyote stitch. I tried once to do it and failed miserably. I become a little confused... I think my first line of beads somehow turned without realizing it. So needless to say it was a disfigured mess. You made it look so easy!

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL
      @ORCHIDandOPAL  5 років тому

      Hi Wadiya! It can definitely be confusing at first. I think this is a great intro to peyote stitch for newbies since it is a small project, and there is not a lot of variation/change in colors. If you try it, I hope this one works out for you! Thanks for watching!! :)

    I really learn from your tutorials. I like your teaching style. This ring is addictive though...I blame you...Lol. I'm not quick, but I am satisfied with how it looks when I'm done. I know you're very experienced, so what exactly do you mean by quick for one of these rings? About 1 hour? Less? More? My obsession to finish has kept me up late one night this week already?😍

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL
      @ORCHIDandOPAL  5 років тому

      I am so glad to hear that you've been enjoying my tutorials! I think they take about 2 hours for me from start to finish because I have made so many. You can do it! Don't worry about the quick part, just try to enjoy the process, and know that you'll get there eventually. Beading should be enjoyable and not stressful. ;-) Have a great weekend!

  • @StitchesbySharonH

    Such a cute ring! I have seed beads but looks like I’ll have to get some delicas!! Is it always best to knot your tail in at the end? I’m asking because in knitting or crochet, you weave your tail in as you go so it’s hidden right away (you don’t make knots in knitting or crochet but I understand that it’s needed in beading to secure what you’ve made). So I was wondering if you could just weave it in after a couple rows and would it be secured? Thank you in advance! 💜

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL
      @ORCHIDandOPAL  5 років тому +1

      I have done a little bit of knitting and crocheting, so I know what you are referring to about weaving in, and not knotting. With beading, you will do a combo of knotting, then weaving to keep everything very secure. You can definitely weave in the tail as soon as you have a few rows done. Then the tail won't be in the way as much while you are continuing to bead, as well. Thanks for watching, and for your comment!

    • @ORCHIDandOPAL

      Hi Kathline! You sure can! Just make the length as long as you want, and add a clasp. You can use flat crimp ends to attach the beadwork to the clasp, or you can bead on some loops on the ends to attach the clasps. Here is one example of a wider bracelet: www.pinterest.com/pin/576108977328090629/

      Hi Celissity! Your comment made me giggle. Seriously, though, one way is to take a piece of string and wrap it around his finger, then cut the string to the length of the circumference of the finger you are trying to fit. Then, make the beaded strip about the length of that piece of string. Hope that helps! 😊💜
