    Hey there! I am writing from Belgium, and I will have a Roland BN20 installed on the 16th of April. I am still a newbie and I’m learning everything by myself (I have taught myself how to use procreate, photoshop and illustrator in the last 10months. It was a challenge, I’ll tell you that 😅But it worked and I learned how to make cutting paths in illustrator. I have a stickershop (for 3years now) and I had always outsourced my sticker printing needs, but now with the BN20 I want to start doing everything myself.
    I still have a few questions though, concerning the use of the machine and sticker making. I hope you can answer (some) of these;
    1) I read just as many comments of people saying you dont have to laminate as people who say you absolutely should if you want your stickers to be professional. I need stickers that can survive about 3-5 years outdoors without fading too much and who are waterproof. Some end up on cars, others on waterbottles or laptops. The point is they need to be “diverse” to be used on a lot of places, but not always/only outdoors. Do you think a laminate is necessary then, or will the ink from the BN20 be good enough that it can hold it’s color for a certain amount of time? And I guess it’s also waterproof without the laminate then?
    2) For the cutting. Does the BN20 also cut through the bottom of the vinyl (the paper backing) or is the blade not strong enough for that?
    3) Can you load multiple designs at once in the software, to save on vinyl so you don’t throw away as much or is it really one setup for one design each time?
    I know this is a lot of text but I hope you can help me with some of these uncertainties. 😊
    Thank you in advance, this video was really detailed and well explained!

    Can we use the transfer tape just like you used in the video as a laminate instead of buying a laminator? or will the transfer tape lift up after a while?

    • @StahlsTV
      @StahlsTV  5 років тому +3

      Yes, you can use the ORATAPE mask in place of a laminator and it will not lift up once applied. Be sure to remove air bubbles and that it has been firmly applied to the decal. Please visit www.stahls.com/heat-transfer-patterns-mask for more information.

    Hi guys, new to Versaworks - I attempted a cut and laminate the other day, But when I went to cut the boundaries - It cut each individual item out not the boundary of the whole setup
    ( Because of the way I set it up to be one item in the file and duplicated it in Versaworks - my question is .. do I have setup the file as a tiled file outside of versaworks to get it to cut boundaries correctly? or can this be done in versaworks ? Also if I was to create the same cutline for the laminate with a 3mm over-bleed for just one - and duplicate (tile) in versaworks am I going to achieve the correct alignment still when it does its cut?

      That is what perf cut is for. However I never use it. I always just add pressure to the contour cut and get perfect die cut stickers all the time. This guy seems like he knows what he is doing but he took a million extra steps to get to this solution. Ive been using rolands for 15 years. this process does not take this long. This should have been a 5 minute video.

    “hey guys i need some advice, i'm thinking about buying the roland bn-20 because i print and cut but before cutting i laminate the vinyl, so in order for this to be possible on the roland bn-20 you need to print the crop marks, but i've been reading some coments that this model has problems to read the crop marks and by the time you put the vinyl back to cut, the roland has a hard time to recognize the crop lines and sometimes never does. So i would like to know if this is true, how often this happens anyways or if someone here has been through the same experience, thanks in advance!”

      Hi pierre, i have also a bn-20. We cannot use the crop mark function now anymore, our machine is 4yrs old. The roland technician told us that the ink from the head while printing can affect the sensor for cropmark. Note that cropmark sensor is beside the print head of bn-20. He advise to use roland gs-24 for cutting purpose after laminating but i cost us too much, we are still deciding if we will replace the sensor a new one or buying a gs-24.

    • @azwethinkweizmm
      @azwethinkweizmm 4 роки тому

      Ryan M. Wow I see. I appreciate so much for replaying! See I found a few issues with the bn-20, such as the crop marks, the fact that it is very slow at printing and cutting, and that if you don’t laminate the vinyl, it curls and peel off. So I decided to print somewhere else and get only a cutter machine and cut it at home.
      PS. The gs-24 here, it costs around $1900, how much does it cost to get a new sensor for the Roland?

    • @ryanm.3876
      @ryanm.3876 4 роки тому +1

      @@azwethinkweizmm i think it's ranging from $80-100 here in the philippines. The roland tech advise if we change the sensor the problem may cause again after a certain time because we cannot prevent the mist of the print head to affect the sensor while printing. Remember that the sensor is attached where the print head is located. Buying a cutter is easier when applying a laminating film when it's about to cut again. bn-20 is slow in printing and cutting comparing to other machine.

    • @markwhitney4489

      @@ryanm.3876 anytime you cut sign vinyl that has just been printed, it will shrink as the ink dries. So wait 24+ hours before cutting & make the cut color less saturated. Less ink=less shrinking after cutting.
