Excellent news guys...!
right on the money
Who else misses the caption “work continues on the orbital launch mount”?
;)
Thanks for giving us a lot of great different views NSF team.
Always enjoy these time lapse videos recapping the events at Starbase. Looking forward to more flyover videos and still photos. Thanks Sean, Jack, and Thomas!
I always play these videos at 2x speed for even faster intake of space nerd news. 🤓
I have to say all this stacking and de stacking the movement of the chopsticks has been refined. They are no longer only lifting OR rotating instead its a compound lift AND rotate at the same time. More efficient!
i wouldnt say they’re doing both at the same time, but it’s definitely a lot faster with less stops
Looks like they've finally downloaded the ramp function from the arduino library.
3:50 This reminds me of a Dali Melting Clock painting. Maybe call this Sean's Melting Crane?
I enjoyed that too! You named it perfectly!!!!
Yes, Sean lined that up on purpose, I am sure. Yes, Dali was great for expanding peoples minds. 'The Persistence of memory' shows some similarities to Sean's Melting Crane.
A time for reflection. 😉
Thanks Jack, Sean and Thomas! My anticipation is growing.
About damn time.
Seems this may be the last or second to last restack before launch (not sure if FTS is fully installed yet), with the FWS showing up to confirm all the final details and show they are content with what they have seen. I would guess the date that was put forward, November 1st, is likely to be launch day or WDR day.
That time-lapse at the end with the reflections! Sweet!
Please add timestamps!
To the beginning of each section, or all the time. I never know if I'm seeing yesterday's destack or today's 😊
Love the Timelapse at the end with the cloud movement reflected so clearly in the water! Epic.
NSF 🐐
Incredible progress have to rely on these people. Hurry up!!
So F&W saw those tests and were there for the deluge test today - they will have observed first-hand how much runoff water is contained and if any reaches the tidal flat. At least we know they are working on the process.
Star Factory chugging along at rapid pace.
If we were to compare the environmental damage caused by oil companies with that of rockets, it's difficult to understand why oil tankers don't receive similar scrutiny and attention.
It has been 6 months since the first launch and Fish and Wildlife are finally showing up to investigate. LOL
Perhaps the FWS could use a fleet of EVs so they don't impact the sensative areas so much.
Makes me wonder if I could ever be that confident working on the top rung of that quick disconnect scaffolding platform. I think even from the distance the camera was at you all would say that guy looks pretty nervous.
I would rather work off that than the very long bucket lifts they have
@@Jaker788 Yes I’ve been wondering how often they X-ray the components in those.
@@dwaynewheeler730 I assume they follow the manufacturer maintenance, though united rental probably does all of that because I don't think SpaceX owns those lifts. I don't think x ray inspection is something that needs to be done, just inspection for smooth operation, maybe looking for cracks, and cleaning/lubricating any points that are specified.
0:46 I am sure the sounds of a Woodpecker have been added in by the NSF editor, to coincide with the heads of the workers bobbing in and out of the access hatch.....
9:15 this is no timelapse, these people actually work that fast.
Does anyone have any stats on how SpaceX is doing in accelerating from stacking? How fast were they before and how fast are they now? How can they get even faster?
@@hawkdsl not his question.
"How fast" doesn’t neccesarily mean "rushing". There is always a faster way to be safe.
They didn’t ask for your commentary. If you can’t answer the question why respond?
@@hawkdsl You didn't asnwer his question. There is always a faster way to be safe anyway.
@@hawkdsl Are you saying they are not getting faster? Or are you saying they are getting faster, but are not happy that they are getting faster?
Fish Peeps!
Around 7:25 or so there are a HSR and supporting test hardware. They appear to be black, not shiny stainless steel colored. Is that just an effect of the lighting or are they really that color?
I was wondering the same! They show the same hardware a few seconds later all nice an shiny, so it's a strange effect.
@@59seank Oh yeah, I see it. It's probably just weird lighting or something then.
Nett hier. Aber waren Sie schon mal in Baden-Württemberg?
Hopefully, they'll finish up picking up the debris. I'm sure Wildlife protection folks will be keen keep eye on it. Hopefully this kind clean up won't need be done again. Less investigations, the better.
17:25 Something about "rocks" and "off" watching this.
Is it only me or does it seem like S26 will be rolled back soon?
Yes, Hecklefish is on the loose! 🐟 🐠 [[[]]]]😅
Those arms simply have to move faster. Or is the booster going to hover long enough for them to moved into position on landing?
❓ Maybe that's what S26 is going to be used for. A test run. (But not till after B9S25 is trialed first) IMO. ❓
In terms of up and down movement, that's about as fast as the draworks motor and gearing move. I don't see why the arms can't be in rough position and the booster does the work of hovering between the arms. Then they should be able to close quick enough and move up or down minimally.
Instead of FWS, I would appreciate to if the FTS get spotted as it becomes installed.
The impact of the deluge system is fully negligeble if you compare it with the effect of a single rainy day over Boca. This is simple FAA protecting themselves against further lawsuits ...
In this case the FAA has nothing to do with this, the only relation is they can't issue a licence with another organization not approving operation of critical launch infrastructure. Fish and wildlife is a state entity and they have their own requirements to be met completely separate from the EIP from the FAA, which has already been done and a deluge system and environmental mitigations for it is part of the original study.
Fish and wildlife will now determine if the deluge system meets their own state requirements, and if not, what needs to be added or changed. When this is finished and approved, then the FAA can issue a licence to launch if they've finished their end on verification of the mishap report.
NSF, will there be any chance of Space X allowing you guys to mount your cameras onto the new Starfactory building so we can continue getting footage of the building of Starships in the High and Megabays? It’ll be a sad day when the exterior wall cladding goes out and blocks out your cameras forever. Hopefully Elon allows this and you can make it happen!
I doubt they will let a non SpaceX personnel video record the internals of their rocket factory. They will have to get approval for a tour in the near future. Employees under NDA can't even film in there.
Don't worry. In 9 month the "bays" will have doors to keep out the elements.
I'm betting they will be like Dutch doors. The lower half will open to let in new rings and the whole doors will open to release a completed unit.
Slight error, the HLS nosecone was originally ship 22's nosecone not ship 21
It was a combination of the two.
NSF, why do you all refer to the new vertical building as "the new High Bay" (4:05)? It seems like everyone else calls this structure Mega Bay 2. Its my understanding that the new building is identical in size/shape to the original Mega Bay. Isn't there already a High Bay so wouldn't this be High Bay 2? Or do you anticipate the original High Bay being torn down?
LIZ CHENEY for House speaker !
FWS thanks for doing your job. The trolls are just stroking their egos.
Only took about 5 months 😮😂
Soon it will be daily , like 5 times, up and down , clean and up and down, .....haha : )
The one thing I do love about these videos are the sounds of the wildlife especially at dawn or dusk. I can only hope something can be worked out to help defer what might be coming…
All that life and habitat could be gone in less than the blink of an eye. We didnt even notice Oumuamua until it was past us. We need to bring our plants an animals to other planets. Respectfully, if you were a true big-picture environmentalist you'd support this project wholeheartedly. We will get hit by a big rock again.
@@rubikmonat6589with respect, you are delusional
Lol nothing is going to happen to them 5x launches a year for a total of 90 seconds of ground disturbance not going to do jack anything
If you want to be mad look right on the other side of the highway at what the LNG monster being built Makes spaceX environmental footprint look like a sandbox
@@machineenvyllc437so glad we have a master ecologist here to set the record straight
I’m really looking forward to the next launch of the big one. If there’s any actual legitimate reason not to launch…very. very soon…I mean, very, very soon…I will eat dirt.
well, what do you call very, very, soon? this week? Marcus House says not to expect a launch before November 1.
What are they doing at the propellant plant at sanchez? Always have work platforms in attendance, but what are they doing? Any propellant being manufactured? Never gets a mention on Starbase Updates?? 🤔
If any of you would really research before posting comments here, you would know that with the number of applications for spaceflight now the FFA is severely backlogged. Want SpaceX to fly? Get a job and help process the applications!😮
I'm not sure what, exactly, the Future Farmers of America has to do with this.
We want a launch enough of delays.
@@hawkdslWe generally know when Christmas Eve is going to occur...
Get to work! haha.
Can't believe SpaceX didn't clean their crap up until now.
They were prevented from doing so. SpaceX cleaned up the mess after SN11 spilled it's guts everywhere, but for some reason, this time was different. Got to question who stepped in, to make this a bigger issue, than what had already gone on previously? (SN9's nose also spilled out into the estuary 2nd Feb 2021)
Was it because their Starship launch was so successful, that someone got worried about their current rocket development? From where is this pedantic, nit picking concern being raised, that was not already covered in all the previous reviews about the launch and environment?
I smell a 🐀
Somebody lit a campfire under FSW brass. What a PR nightmare they created for themselves. Or maybe they got the funding they needed. Anyone try to talk with them onsite?
Better not let them wander near the base. If they find a rare species of spider in the grass, all consents will be reconsidered.
The US Gulf Coast spans 1680 miles, and to my knowledge no species has gone extinct, even when the Deepwater Horizon incident spilled 134 million gallons of oil. Even if an incident wiped out every living thing within a 5 mile radius of the launch site there’s no way anything is going to go extinct. This is totally ludicrous…. The Kennedy Space Center is jam packed with wildlife.
species do not go extinct in our timeframes..they go extinct gradually
what? so you expect then to do nothing until a species does go extinct?
the fws isnt just about preventing extinction, it’s about preventing nature from being harmed
@@justbecauseOK so, you think launching rockets at that site may cause species to go extinct gradually?
@@clayel1 so, mankind should not progress?
@lawtonsegler1923 nature should not be sacrificed for the sake of progress. spacex can minimize their effect on the preserve before launching, the wait won’t kill them
I hear that when Elon was a little kid, his favorite activity was stacking and unstacking his wooden blocks.
I hear he was a little prick.
And even way back then, they spelt S T A R S H I P 😁
Who required F & W's review? And waited 7 months to start it?
you got the title wrong, its fish people not fish and wildlife service!
The fish with such a wildlife have all died already ofcourse.
so, what you're saying is that the fish people drive trucks with Fish and Wildlife Service stickers on them?
yes its so wrong!!!!!!!@@stevevernon1978
They’ll claim there’s some rare frog that’s about to go extinct or some weird protected ice plant like at point magu
Wow...7 minutes in and Christmas Treeing...Rule no.1 never hoist over people but how can you not while rigging via Christmas Tree style?? See the conundrum??!!
Over 25,000 workers died during the Panama canal construction. We have become so averse to risk, I'm amazed SpaceX has made it this far.
Live in a completely different time by technology, science, medical care from 1881 when it started and 1904 when the US took over.
Human life wasn’t valued quite as much back then. Frankly I’d rather be alive today when I know SpaceX will make darn sure folks aren’t working anywhere near the blast zone when a Raptor lights up thank you very much.
The workers in the original attempt to build the canal were dying of diseases like Malaria or yellow fever not from poor risk decisions on the jobsite. Also, before the French gave up and the US took over the build, it had already taken 9 years. It isn't like the great wall of China which had prisoners working until they died and then their corpses were placed in the wall as a mass grave of sorts.
@@vpmcgeathas I remember my history plenty were killed in landslides and other such incidents. The technology to build something that big safely just didn’t exist. Even today we have incidents worldwide where poor planning or mistakes cost lives on building sites. Accidents do happen. You just do everything you can to prevent them and hope you’re one of the lucky ones.
@debbiebruce5380 I'm not disagreeing that people died because of the contruction. I'm saying of the ~20,000 people who died making the canal, majority weren't from failed risk decisions. The French just kept trying to pay the workers more until they started quitting if they weren't dying from disease. I'm sure a fair few hundred died over 9 years of French construction and longer with US construction. And I agree it's better now but the whole point was terribly made by OP.
Just doing their job.
Very slowly.
Yawn
@@KeithRowley How do you know they're doing their jobs to the best of their ability and that they want spaceflight? This process should have started and ended months ago - you'll never be able to convince me that a deluge system putting out a tiny bit of freshwater, in an isolated area that also gets rained on, is something that should require this much delay.
@@KeithRowley Oh please, you are trying so desperately to act like this particular place is super duper special and needs all these considerations... when in reality the only thing that makes it special is that SpaceX is testing there, and it wouldn't have even entered your consciousness otherwise. But hey, SpaceX moves in and it's suddenly the most special ecosystem on the planet - give me a fking break, you aren't fooling anybody.
@@KeithRowley Nope, and like I said before, there's essentially zero reason to outside of SpaceX's presence there. You should be thankful that they chose your quasi-wasteland to build their infrastructure, and for the economic impact they have.
California farm land is drying up so they can protect a tiny fish in the river. Bye lil fishy
It’s a sad day in America that the department of Fish and Wildlife has such power to stop the largest and most successful space companies from developing rockets. This is a national security issue and if a few birds and fish die that’s not a national security concern. The government needs to get out of the way and let private companies do their jobs were the government has failed.
It’s a sad day for the planet if America thinks they can pollute it at will.
Its also utter stupidity to build a rocket launch facility in the middle if a protected wildlife refuge, right next to a public road an beach.
The regulatory problems are entirely created by SpaceX. That is what happens when a lone buffoon makes bad decisions.
@johnturner4400 The world uses billions of barrels of oil a year, the occasional rocket launch is trivial.
Bad take.
the one who prioritize stupid fish over the chance of saving humanity from extinction deserves to go live with the fish ...
I'm afraid you are not thinking straight, hope you're not full- self-driving your maxi-taxi tonight.
Everyone booo them!

Elon Musk chose the wrong spot for this operation. Cape Canaveral sits on the same kind of swamp, but no one there is worried about wildlife around big rockets. It's very clear that the Wildlife and FAA are scared about this Starship. They both are using this to delay this rocket from launching from the beaches of Texas. Both FAA and Wildlife people are trying very hard into roadblocking the future of space. I think Musk should consider putting all of this operation up in orbit. He should be using both Falcon Heavy and Falcon 9's to build a huge mega space station that includes a huge rocket plant in Low Earth Orbit and build theses Starships in space. In space, Starships could be 1000 times this size, kind of a mother ship that is three miles long and a half-mile wide. It would have a nuclear engine that can make the starship go almost 100,000 mph and make it to Mars in just a few days.
😂😂😂
Bro....are you fine...even our grandkid's kids won't see that ship
First manned rocket flight was from Boca chica beach...
Anything that big would not be allowed that close to the earth 🌎, it would be the moon or moon orbit, possible a Lagrange point, most likely wherever the material they need to build is located. Your basically taking about the future, the future may be more difficult getting to then outer space with the way humans have been misbehaving.
Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center and surrounding areas are far too developed to allow the kind of development and experimentation Spacex does. There are a lot of operational launches - not least of which are mostly Falcon 9s nowadays - that can’t afford the disruption of an experimental launch that might go bad. Off-base there are civilian communities and sea ports in close proximity. It’s why SpaceX stopped building a starship tower at Kennedy and used the parts at Boca Chica instead. SpaceX needed a development site that was a far away from other things. Largely unpopulated, as close to the equator as possible while still being in United States, and have access to transportation and the other SpaceX facilities like MacGregor. Also, a state government that was not out of control like California. When SpaceX gets most of the bugs rung out of Starship and mega booster, then you will see operations moved to the Cape.
Probably trolling for more things to cite SpaceX for.
Yeah, so?
Musk has to go to jail because of spacepollution
Who cares?
